Salt water does the trick, i have long hair and swimming in the ocean turns my hair into a rats nest. Its also is very dependent on weather conditions. And cali without excessive conditioning is also a great combo.

Problem here is that there is a little spring which is set inside the arm holding thingy (right at the bottom) which is missaligned and therefore scratches when he moves the arm (by turning or pressing/pulling) - solution is in theory simple: disasamble from backside, place spring back in place! Its annoying to do if you have big hands and no tools though. Easyer way woud be to put the string away, take the whole whammy bar outside and fix it from there, just takes 30seconds (if its outside). It has totaly nothing to do with the springs in the back - its an issue which happens on this particular whammy bar version relativly often. Its a great whammybar other than that (I have 2)
I absolutely love how people have evolved from playing the "standard" style and made something that has never been heard before. I have to admit that I'm not the biggest Polyphia fan (I still kinda prefer harsher tones like Meshuggah) but I still have huge respect none the less.

the thing is, that "squeak" whammy sound can be used musically, together with an amp you can really get some beautiful sounds.
The pickups are not going to get the squeak and I doubt he would want a mic on his guitar to pickup a untuned squeak.
