Paula, you are a wonderful teacher. You make it so easy to understand and complete each project you show. I love how you show how to use each of the symbol, i.e., enlarge, group and others. A lot of demonstrators seem to assume people know how to use them. Your subscriber listing should have way more people. Thank you, thank you.
Thank you so much. I am getting out all my equipment after putting it all away since 2015. Not sure how much of my cricut stuff will even still work. But my scan and cut cm 250 is still in the box brand new. This will help me use my ellison die cuts and my my circle uh things even my sizxix. I went through a life changing adoption of two granddaughters and gave up my crafting rooms. Now they are grown and I have a great grandson 3 years old who I want to start making things for again. I subscribed to your channel.
This is the second video of yours I have watched. Your instructions are thorough and very easy to follow. Because of you, I have gotten so much done today. Thank you. Keep it up!
This is great information and not just on the die capture but on how to combine those random pieces that separate off from the main image. Thank you so much!
Truly !! Computers, be they the ones on our desks or those hidden in our appliances!, seem to have minds of their own from time to time, so it's a godsend when we're sent those angels who help us decipher the "fixes" needed.
This was so helpful!!! The symbols on the Scan N Cut are not intuitive, and I can't tell you how many times I have deleted images to avoid having the machine cut one image into several. You just made it so easy to understand how to fix the problem which will save me a lot of headaches in the future! Thank you!!!
I bought a Design'N'Cut for just THE purpose of getting images that will fit MY designs, but have yet to be brave enough to tackle the project! Those icon-labeled buttons, sometimes even WITH "explanations", don't seem to translate well in MY head!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial video. Your instructions are so very clear and easy to understand. I always felt that the Brothers icons are not very intuitive. Loved watching you walk through it step by step.I learned a lot.
@@craftingwithpaula Ha ha, I tried to do what you said but have no idea what I'm doing really. I will re-visit the project When I'm a bit more advanced. I'm a newbie and have only had my machine a couple of weeks. :)
I am going to get removable storage just for this, I have a lot of dies. I thought about doing this, thank you for the formula, you are appreciated, happy holidayz!!!
This is where the scanning mat makes sense. With it you don't have to glue or tape things down. You place everything where you want it on the scan mat, close the clear cover, load the mat, and scan. You also don't run the risk of scraping or damaging the scanner element. But if you're still under warranty Brother will take care of it. I got a new machine as a replacement for a defective scanner element plus another new manufacturer's warranty. If you don't have the die machine used for the dies you could color them with a dark marker before placing them on your scanning mat. That ought to provide all the contrast needed to render a good scan. Now you can go out to buy more dies or shapes to scan with your Scan N Cut to convert them into new .FCMs. A Brother representative told me the internal storage size is limited to 1.5 MegaBytes! It'll fill up quickly with so little to work with. I'm nowhere near filling my 16 GigaByte USB 2 flash Drive with .FCMs or .SVGs.
This was so helpful and will broaden my collection of dies by resizing. I am new to scan n cut , just purchased my machine so this was an Excellent tutorial and from today on I will follow your channel. You are a great instructor.😊😊
Thank you - great instructions so. clear and understandable. I am looking to purchase a Scan n Cut in the next couple of month, now for sure I will after seeing that I can upload my dies. 😀. Keep sending out instructions and ideas for its use. 🌵🦋💖
most die companies do NOT permit their dies to be used in this way, either to make the multiple of the same size cuts or to resize them etc. Brother have been quite clear about this, it breaches the die makers copyright/copyright laws. If you want to do this with any dies then you must ask the die makers permission to do so. Tattered Lace, Two red robins and Quirky bird permit this but most others do not. Tonic Studios and Spellbinders certainly don't permit their dies to be used in/with the machine in anyway and have warned their customers that this is not permitted
Yes that is an option another to consider is purchasing an actual scanning mat as this is made with a non static type of acetate and a non sticky mat. This in turn gives a very clear background to scan an abundance of things including stencils. Thank you for this video xx
Very nice demo. Word of caution though: You must check the company’s “Angel Policy” regarding electronic reproduction of the die (or stamp) image. While an Angel Policy does not generally affect anything you create/use for personal use, it does affect anything you might sell that uses that image. The majority of craft companies do not allow you to replicate or resize their dies electronically if you are the using the resulting image in commercial products for sale (such as greeting cards, scrapbook pages, or journals).
@@craftingwithpaula I realize you most likely already knew this. My comment was for other people watching this video who may not be aware of the legal requirements for using this method as it was not mentioned in the video.
Such a great informative video! I am still learning with my scan n cut and did know how to do this but you made it so easy to understand the steps! Thank you such much! Keep up the great work! 😊
QUESTION, PAULA ... @ o.d. 9:43 where you were showing us that to scan the space between the doll's arm and her body, you selected the middle icon. THAT icon, to my mind, would leave a shadow -- or a "BUBBLE" around the image, much like the "bubbles" that some die sets give us to accent our die cut words. The THIRD icon seemed to me to have been the more intuitive one to choose. Would you explain, please, what THAT one does? Many thanks, dear Lady, for a l l your help!!
I am very ecstatic about this information!! I would like to know if you have tried this same technique with box dies that need score lines and if you have tried it, how did it work out for you and do you have any videos on it and if not, are you willing to try it out and let us know how everything worked out via tutorial video?.
I’m planning on making a video about boxes too. The scoring lines don’t work but that’s not a problem because you can always score it after it’s cut. I don’t like to design scoring lines on ScanNCut, because he does it by cutting the paper in small dots or dashes and that exposes the white part of the inside of the paper. I don’t like that.
If you have a printer with a scanner. Just put them on the glass and copy. Then, either adjust the size or print as is then attach to the scsn n cut mat. No need to glue anything.
Fab tutorial. I have a problem though. Following your instructions to the letter which I write down as you go. When I scan he image in it is perfect but as soon as I move the arrows to crop the image when joining it all together there are parts that get missed out. It's a butterfly and some bits on the tips of the wings don't cut out. I Have tried scanning it in about 5 times in different places on the mat but the same happens. Sadly this is my favourite die :( I'm using an SDX900. Any help you can give me would be great, thanks. x
it probably separated parts of the image. The way to solve this is by GROUPING what has been identified as different parts. Use the arrow keys to find what is separated and join them by "grouping" into one image. This should solve the problem.
Thank you so much, Paula! I have a question-what if a shape die has stitching on the cutting side? Us their a way to include the stitching on the saved scan and cut image?
It will depend on the paper, and how well the machine will scan it. I doubt it would be worth it because the stitching is so delicate that for sure there will be portions without it. Maybe if you use a light-colored cardstock/paper? And honestly, even when I create a shape on Canvas with stitching, it never looks as good as the ones we get from dies.
Just a question...after you've done all this and you want to cut the images, do you place the paper on your mat in a specific location? Can you show how you do the actual cutting once the images are saved to your machine? I just got my SNC and I'm new to all this.
Hi Christine, there is no specific place for the paper, as long as it stays within the margins you see on the mat. As for cutting, if you look through my videos, there are many showing how to cut images, it's basically the same process.
AAAAHHH !!! But N O W how do I LABEL these so I can FIND them in future !?!?! Oh, ya ... AND how do I engage the machine to actually cut out the images?!?!?
@@craftingwithpaula Ah, Yes! Found that! Is there some "button" to push to get the machine to allow US to name our saved image? (The "letter and number" designation isn't truly helpful once we've saved a goodly number of images into the machine.) And, if we can do that, will the machine save the images alphabetically? I guess my FIRST question, should be "Do you have OTHER videos that go further into more "How-To's" of this machine?" Thank you BUNCHES for your input!
