- The Mystics singing their hit song "Hushabye" back in 1981.
Lyrics:
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hushabye hushabye
Oh my darling don't you cry
Guardian angels up above
Take care of the one I love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Hushabye hushabye
Oh my darling don't you cry
Guardian angels up above
Take care of the one I love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Pillows lying on your bed
Oh my darling rest your head
Sandman will be coming soon
Singing you a slumber tune
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Oh oh oh oh
Lullaby and goodnight
In your dreams i`ll hold you tight
Lullaby and goodnight
Till the dawns early light
Hushabye hushabye
Oh my darling don't you cry
Guardian angels up above
Take care of the one I love
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Hush hush hushabye
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh.
I was born in 1951,Loved growing up in 50's & 60's. I wish the hands of time could be turned back.
Five singers from other groups got together for this special one and only song.
Guess I'm just a youngster(70) but I've given a lot of my life to this magic time....
I love wat you say!
Keep yur Heart Young!
I met phil in the seventies, he came to visit me. In carnsie Brooklyn. Lovely guy.
If I've had a bad day or bad rehearsal, I just watch this video. It's hard not smile.
He was also the nicest guy in the world off stage. Got to work with him many times. A SOLID GOLD HEART.
I have seen these guys in the 60s. So much beautiful song
This song by these guys will never grow old for me. (I was there too)
Damn! How good this sounds live! All vocal aspects of the song absolutely nailed!
I grew up in the 50's and 60's and this was one of my all time favorite records back then.....This 1981 live version is totally awesome......I found this video just a few days ago and keep playing it several times a day......I miss those days and the music was the best....Nothing today compares to these songs and the entertainers......
I grew up the same time, 50’s & 60’s. Now I have Grandchildren and sang this to my Granddaughter.
They look so spiffy. And sing so beautifully. Oh for the good old days.
My Mom loved this song, and she had this beautiful ballad in her collection. Thanks Mom!
What a beautiful v8deo of the Mystics.
In my top five!
Love this song. And they never had curse words in the songs in those days.
I also grew up in the 50s and 60s. I love Doo Wop, and I especially love The Mystics Hushaby.
I am so glad to have been young during the 50-60s soooo much great music
Originally they were to sing Teenager in Love by Pomus and Shuman, but the song was given to Dion/Belmonts. Pomus and Shuman then wrote Hushabye for them. Did okay, huh?
This went along with One Summer Night back in the early 60's
These guys sure sound great together.
It's looks super sound like gaslight theater in new horizons show documentary about biography book club fun more information interview review history and bring them back to gaslight theater show
"I should buy, I should buy"
What is sounded to me before I find this oldie.
Still gives me that feeling! After all these years 👍68 to be exact.lol o well doesn't matter 😊
This my favorite song from the doo wop era. They are great here. As a treat, listen to the Beach Boys cover, its incredible
Me too!!
Listen to that baritone and harmony! This is classic musical skill.
Class plus talent and a couple guys with built in auto-tune, it feels good to hit those tones...
The Mystics are one Fabolous group. They sound just like the fabulous Roommates.
George, it is so nice to have a neighbor that can sing! Kidding. Great video. Vinny, The Pastells.
"Lot of covers of Mystics' big hit, none of them come close. Baltimore back in the day, Parkville high, high up on the soundtrack of my life."
Phil has a beautiful voice 😍
Those were the days great song takes me back when everything seemed so good.
Five dudes...perfection!!!
Oh, I love this so much! There are so many songs I grew up hearing on the radio but had never seen the artists. Many times I didn't even know the name of the artist or group. It's only now with UA-cam that I can find things like this and see songs performed that I've loved since I was a kid. Such a treat!
Its amazing to see the greats performing live, almost like being there!🤩

One of my favorites. I sing this to my Granddaughter.
So do I.
THE MISTICS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE KILLER DOO WOP GROUP !!!!!!!! FANTASTIC LIVE CONCERT IN THE BEGINING YEAR 1981.
Still sweeeeeeet, throughout the years
great song! that audience looks pretty tame, they should've been dancing on the aisles!
I think the above was from the Lamp Post oldies show that was on TV in 1981 (along with the Jive Five, Randy and the Rainbows, and others). I know I recorded it on my old RCA top loader VHS tape machine. I remember thinking at that time, that it had been 22 years since Hushabye was a radio hit, that I bought the record on a 45 back in '59 --and that it seemed so long ago in my life at that time. And to think now that 36 more years has past since 1981. Where did the years go!
One of my favorite groups from back then. This sounds as good as their original release. I was about 13 when this song hit the charts. Thank you Lord for those times.
One of my favourite songs of theirs, the guys are still very easy on the eyes
agreed-can't beat handsome Italian men singing beautifully!
Mint Crush has that right! These guys look great in their Brooks Brothers inspired suits. I would love to see some of Rock stars get out of their grubby flannels & sweats.
@@nightbloomer4739 I absolutely AGREE with you. Sadly a lot of them look unkempt like they just roll out of bed in the mornings and out through the front door 😔
Omg this goes right to my heart. I was 13 when this came out at the height of my boy crazy infatuations. This song and the Mystics are fantastic.Thank you so much for posting. ❤❤❤
A Celestial Oldie Classic... "The art of music is divine and effective. It is the food of the soul and spirit. Through the power and charm of music the spirit of man is uplifted." ~ Baha'i Writings
Great memories. Thanks fellas.
The talent these guys have is Amazing.
great group.. We played in concert with them 1979
One of the best ever.
Only the greatest doowop song in history!
Tonight could be the night by the velvets is the best doo wop
I love this! Phil is amazing here!!
this music can be performed to contemporary youth and appreciated
Another favorite of all of us street corner/gangway crooners to harmonize to back in the 60's. Great song! Thanx for posting!
Several well dressed and talented white men singing their hearts out. How encouraging.... Perhaps there's still hope for us all.
Beautiful video of the Mystics. Good-looking guys and great singers and backups.
They're still performing and sound great!
Where are they playing?
In 2023?
No matter what year or what stage they are on they always sing this song great. - johnny Wowk aka Johnny The Walker

The Mysics had lots of great songs, listen to their others.
Great oldie🥰
One of my all time favourite
💞 Beautiful memories..💞🎶❤️
Don’t forget about the flip, Don’t say goodbye. Another great Philly song both written by Jocko Henderson.
This was indeed a hot record in NYC. Thanks Alan Freed...Thanks Harry Harrison..
que hermosa banda y esta balada es una joya una obra de arte!
Yes I still can
John Tarangelo you still got it Johnny T
Fabuloso!
💯 Perfect Performance by The Mystics. 💯 The audience was respectful and appreciative. The audiences of today (2021) are disruptive and immature acting."😡
Yes and sadly, "the more things change". Saw the Beach Boys their first U.S. tour in '64 and even on the front row, couldn't hear anything but screams, the entire show. Had to be there.
Exactly the way this song should be presented live, and exactly the way the audience should behave during the performance of a song of this genre. Personally, I like hearing and seeing the artists, not hearing the guy next to me sing, or the guy jumping up to "party" in front of me. Not a Stones, Dead, or Kanye gig. Was the standing O omitted? Kudos to Phil and John in particular, but also to all the guys. Not easy to sing live and remain totally cool. Can anyone ID from left to right, and who are original members? Great understated, classy performance.Bookmarked in my faves forever.
+Richard Proud Thanks, Rich. Don't think this song was ever performed better
Guys are great
FABULOUS then and now!!!!
Hushabye, basta! Já chega!
Adoooooro!
The best version
Love that song I could be hear it all day keep playing ur music

Too great !!
The Mystics sound exactly like the Roomates when they sing Twinkle Lulabye. Two perfect groups.
The Mystics also did a great song with cool harmody called White Cliffs of Dover.Give it a try.
Takes me back to 2000s when I was a child
That’s what you call Dowop🤴

Where do we find in 2019 such talent?
Same as 1955: Street corners and subways.
Great stuff :)
