I wrote this before but, every-time someone makes a excellent piano sound, someone else creates another.
4:49 a major problem is that Simeon can play anything and it'd sound great
Came here for the software. Stayed for the beautiful playing...
Thanks so much 🙏
That was amazing! I've seen many demos, and this is the best one I've ever seen.
Thank you, I am so glad you enjoyed watching and yes, Ivory 3 is pretty amazing. Joyfully yours!
I had this video going in the background while I was working on something else... and got pulled back by your blue skies jam. Damn dude, your playing is an absolute pleasure.
Thanks so much, it is such a wonderful experience to find yourself getting lost in these beautiful instruments. Joyfully yours!
Neat, I didn’t realize this was out on Windows now. Nice playing as always, Simeon!
Most excellent review/demonstration. Bravo!
Thank you so much. I love what Synthogy has done with Ivory 3. They keep raising the bar.
These instruments just get better and better. What a time to be into music!
It is well. You've given me some good improv ideas for the next time we do this one at church!
I have Ivory 2 Uprights in the new engine and I had to do a double take as I likewise immediately felt that connection. I really did feel like I was in a room with a real piano.
The modern upright is super clean but you also have the Vintage Upright which sounds a bit more earthy. You can also add creaks and noise similar to what you can do with Noire.
My only complaint if you can call it that is that the modern upright sound super clean.
Thanks again for you excellent and warm playing 💜
Bellissimo questo Ivory 3 🤩
you can hear the B mic is brighter as it is closer to the treble/shorter strings, and the piano corner. the body would be different there as well in terms of vibration dynamics. I like the A mic and the mid position mic as well, and the ambient mic.
Wow, this is the best sounding pianos I've heard yet. Ivory is still #1 in the game
Yep! They are doing some amazing things, especially in the area of getting more authentic sympathetic resonance responses.
Thank you for playing legato, sustained notes so we can HEAR the piano.
So many who demonstrate pianos play fast-show-off scales instead of hearing and feeling
the instrument!
For me, it is always about feel and how I connect with the particular instrument. Each one has a history, a spirit if you will that the first few notes reveal and then it’s off to the races to see where we will go together. It is a partnership, a joining of the developers hard work and vision with my personality and tapping into musical memories and emotions. Thanks so much for watching along with the kind encouragement.
Loved “It Is Well With My Soul! I also thought the tone of Ivory 3 sounded beautiful with this as well.
I have been considering Production Voices 300 Grand but also really like the sound of Ivory 3. I’m pretty torn between these two. I also thought IK’s Pianoverse and the Garritan CFX sound good.
I hope that they bring this to iOS!
Hi Simeon, Happy New Year!!
What are your thoughts on Ivory 3 vs Noire and Production Voices 300 Grand regarding tone, realism and playability? I’m currently using Noire which is actually very good but am looking to upgrade it.
I think what they have done with the new IVORY 3 engine is impressive, especially combining new modelling techniques to get a better sense of sympathetic resonance. Having control over the engine gives Synthogy more of an advantage as they can build and refine new features and playability. NOIRE is always for me a classic, and 300 GRAND is full of potential, Jason did a fantastic job with this.
@@PraiseTracks Thanks Simeon. Yes Noire is still a great product despite despite all the newer releases. However, with Noire I find the sound can be a little lifeless and I miss having different mic perspectives and Una Corda.
I totally agree that Jason did a fantastic job and 300 Grand is full of potential. The fundamental tone There are a few issues that need sorting which is putting me off from getting it.
Ivory 3 naturally has that bell like quality to the tone being a Steinway that I like but there is no demo to try out. The new RGB engine and massive amount of velocity layers and midi 2.0 support is extremely intriguing. The sympathetic resonance sounds more realistic than Noire.
How does 300 Grand feel to play compared to Noire? I've heard some people say there isn't enough tonal variation despite having over 30 velocity layers compared to Noires 22?
What are your thoughts on 300 Grand compared to Ivory 3?
I'm really struggling to make up my mind between these two.
Hallo Simeon ich habe die ganze Zeit auf die Pads gewartet. Warum hast du sie nicht getestet?
So, which is better, this or the new VSL library?
sounds wicked. what controller are using?
This is the CASIO Privia PX-S7000. Casio was very nice to send it to me and I have been pleasantly surprised at how agile a controller it is. While still weighted it is slightly a bit lighter touch than my SL88: Grand. I also has many features that make it a great gigging keyboard; built in speakers and sounds, mic input, Bluetooth audio and MIDI.
Thanks for watching. Joyfully!🎹
Hey Simeon! First time seeing your channel today. Could I use these with any digital piano as long as they have a MIDI-connection?
It would be great to see a setup video, what you need, how you can connect etc(maybe you have one already?) Thanks!
Technically yes. You also need a fairly robust computer, with ample storage along with a capable Audio/MIDI interface. Also, your mileage may vary according to the type of keyboard controller you have as far as how you will experience the dynamics of a particular instrument.
That is definitely something for me to think about doing. Thanks so much for watching and I wish you the best as you continue on this amazing journey of discovering the power and beauty of these virtual instruments.
Hi, Simon. I've noticed in some of your recent videos that you're using a keyboard that looks like the Casio PX-S7000 series instead of the older Sl88Grand. Is there a particular reason why you switched? I'm curious to know!
Hello YeahBan, yes, CASIO was very kind to send me one of their PX-S7000 Privias and I have enjoyed using it for the past few months.
I am still using the SL88-Grand as well as you can see it behind me under the larger monitor.
The Casio setup has been great for doing livestreams and I go back and forth when arranging and my day to day with the SL88.
It is interesting to experience how each keyboard feels; the PX-S7000 while being weighted has a lighter touch along with a snappier key return.
The SL88: Grand is a weightier feel and it can shine when doing very expressive things that can take advantage of the dynamic velocity range it has.
Having a couple of different actions also helps me out in better context how different instrument libraries respond to different keyboards so for me it is a win win all around.
Thanks so much for watching and as always I am glad to answer questions and help any way I can. Joyfully yours!
@@PraiseTracks Thank you so much for sharing such detailed information. I've seen a few UA-camrs using this instrument, and I've been curious about it. I also work with the Sl88grand and really enjoy its touch. I'm also intrigued by the Numa X Piano GT, which you mentioned at the end. This is my go-to channel before purchasing piano virtual instruments. Thank you for continuing to post great reviews!
@YeahBan it is my pleasure. 🙏🏻
Seems the guys who create the default presets are fan of Keith Jarrett. ;-)
Yes, what a phenomenal musician. Thanks for watching.
@@PraiseTracks Did you tested the "Koln" Preset? I played the beginning of the Koln Concert with this preset and the result is... wow. It seems like the original (which have very particular sound).
I hear you play and can't help but to think, "God is good."
If Bach was alive, his hand would wiggle abit of all the choices of pianos today...
Is there a real standalone version of Ivory 3 on Windows, or does Synthogy still ship it with Cantabile Lite?
Yes, that is what I am seeing. You could of course use the VST plugin in any standalone host (like Unify) that would give you similar functionality outside of the DAW. Thanks for watching.
@@PraiseTracks Thanks for confirming. It's just nice to open a standalone app when you just want to get playing quickly.
It's just unfortunate that Windows is an afterthought to Synthogy. The Mac version was released first and has a real standalone app.
This piano is all mids! I want to EQ it! Maybe it's a mic position or a tone knob thing?
There is an eq on this that works really well 👍🏼
Synthogy, please add a closer under-the-lid mic for American Concert D Ivory III.
R there crackling issues with this plugin?
There could have been some contributing factors due to the extra things going on while live-streaming. I could see revisiting this again since I have upgraded my audio interface along with doing some other improvements in my Windows environment, so stay tuned. Thanks for watching.
@@PraiseTracks I watch all your videos! Absolutely love your content! You’ve inspired me to purchased many plugins. Many Thanks unto you 🙏🏾
that audience perspective didn't work. when you played blue skies the treble was clearly on the right. sounded nice though, I prefer performer perspective, its normally that way on pop records, its what we are used to.
You need a tux.
Funny story. So a few years out of high school I would take my synth gear (Akai AK80, TX7 module, RX11 drum machine, and a few other odds and ends) to a Holiday Inn about an hour from where I lived. When I first started, I would usually get some very nice tips until one day they said I needed to wear some sort of tux. Well after that the tips disappeared, so you can see why that thought would give me pause. 😂
Thanks so much for watching, and listening.
@@PraiseTracks Love that story. Thanks for sharing. You brought me back to similar tux/Casino/Holiday Inn experiences back in the days of my 70's top 40 band so I can definitely relate.
You know if everything you review is great and wonderful and the best and does all this and does all that then after a while you sort of lose credibility
Hopefully that is not what I am portraying and I am sorry you received that impression.
Part of it is that it is sometimes the first time I am experiencing a particular instrument and certain parts do light up my brain a bit but I am never trying to force an emotion or elicit a response, these are my genuine first encounters.
I do appreciate the feedback as it helps me to think more critically going into these.
My goal is to present as many different things to all of you so that you can hear them from my vantage point.
Not all will excite you as it might have excites me in the moment and that is fine, I want you to hear what will work best for you and not everything will.
Thanks again for watching and I look forward to seeing you again. Joyfully yours.
Having said that, I do have to say you're performing is first rate. Beautiful touch on the keys and great voice.
Thank you so much. 🙏
