I just love the Maya / Aztec culture as well. O don't want to be the one who gets to beheaded even if it is an honour. A temple in a temple is just mind blowing. Some good tips on how to avoid the crowds and great food in the end!
Wow, ok now that is hard, only using your shoulders to get a ball through a hoop! But it does sound kind of fun right? Watching you guys makes us sooo happy as it excites us to travel again! Yes maybe a bit strange burying the dead in their gardens.... 🙈💚
The visit was stunning, i'm so happy we get to travel with you specially in these times. The food you ate looked WOW and ahhh i'm so jealous of you guys!!
I was just talking about how I wanted to visit there some day!! Too funny. Was really cool to watch this video. That’s cool that you basically had the place to yourselves. Really enjoyed learning more about the Mayans.
The pyramids are stunning. I visited there some eight years ago and it was so crowded. Didn't know there was a temple inside of the temple. Thanks for the detailed background research. The tortilla looks great. I don't like Mexican food that have lots of beans and avocado. Your tortilla is just great for me.
They really are stunning aren’t they? It’s wild knowing that we should have been surrounded by people but we had basically the whole place to ourselves. Unique for sure!!
We couldn't believe it! It was more than we could have hoped for, such a unique experience, especially because usually 8,000 people come through every single day
Wow I'd love to visit this place one day! although due to COVID and lockdown who knows when that will happen! those underwater caves looked so unique and beautiful!
The cenotes in this area are SUPER cool, we went diving in them recently and it literally feels like you're in the underworld. Stay tuned for that upcoming video lol
I would not be down to bury my family in my home! I'm jealous you guys had the place to yourselves! It was pretty busy when I had the chance to go there!
I went to Chichen Itza a few years ago, and I loved it! I learned that the Mayan calendar included “Unlucky Days” at the start of August - my birthday was on one of those days. So now I know that wherever I go, folks will want to push me in a lake to appease the gods.
how beautiful are the house when close to the of the house at the beginner of video sand look like wonderful place to travel and thnk you for the little history lesson love from my bed in lockdown
I can't believe how quiet it is at Chichen Itza!! It truly looks so beautiful. I can't believe this was built on top of another temple- kind of crazy to think about!! You guys have inspired me to do more research when traveling. I feel like i do the thing you talked about at the beginning- go and see it but don't have any research or knowledge lol and then it doesn't mean as much. Definitely going to try to start doing more research in the future!
Glad we inspired you to do more research about a place! We feel like we got a once in a lifetime experience to get to be at the ruins all by ourselves. With 8,000 people filtering through every day, that NEVER happens. We were so excited.
I studied Maths, so I have a great level of appreciation for that accuracy of the Mayans! Really great video - I felt like I was there. Really hope you enjoyed having the whole place to yourself!
Wow, this was so awesome to see. I've never been to any ruins before, despite being in Mexico twice..but I had a cruise cancelled in march due to Covid, and one of the days was going to be in Costa Maya, and we had an excursion booked to see the ruins :( So missed that. I loved hearing all the facts you guys shared...and so interesting they were mathematicians..so calculated. Of course you guys found some yummy food, as always :)
Hopefully you can make it to some ruins at some point, we find them absolutely fascinating. Our favorite city in Mexico is Mexico City and Teotihuacan completely blew us away. Plus you get to climb to the top of the pyramid (the tallest in the world that you're able to climb). Can't recommend it enough!
Great history. Glad it's being preserved at the global level. Thanks for the extra graphics to get a better perspective of the temple. I love the 365 step fact!!! How did you find out all of this, guidebooks or are there good signs around? Definitely jealous of this trip. Need to get down there!
@@SheahenExplorations So there are guides you can hire outside of the temple to take you around, but I just did a bunch of research prior to our arrival. In fact there was an entire video of a guided tour. SO many facts that we didn't include, a ton of interesting history here. There are basically NO signs, so unless you hire a guide or do prior research, you'll have learned basically nothing.
Oh, I went to Chichen Itza many, maaaany years ago. It was magnificent! But I also remember fainting because it was so warm and so humid X-D loved revisiting with you! So cool that the place was all to yourself basically. ps: I think I learned more through your video than what I remember from my actual visit :-)
SO glad we were able to drop some knowledge on you. Unless you took a guided tour, you basically wouldn't learn anything because there are no plaques or anything to tell you about any of the buildings.
Wish I had seen this video with the kool tips before my chichen itza video, if you go with a group and guide everyone claps in front of the pyramid and you can hear the echoes, is climbing to top still not allowed? I went there more than 4 years back
Yeah we learned about the clapping trick when we went to Teotihuacán and they do it at Chichén Itzá as well. They don’t allow climbing after the woman fell to her death
I didn't even realize the 7 wonders changed! But maybe I did, because looking at the list I knew some of the new ones but not as many of the old ones. It's only changed once right, in 2007? I guess I wasn't paying attention!
I think the "original" 7 wonders mostly don't even exist anymore and most people when they're referring to them are talking about the "new" ones that can be seen today. Not entirely sure though!
I love that you included facts too, I love learning while I travel. It looks gorgeous there.
There’s a lot of research that goes into our videos. Glad you appreciate it!!

Thanks for watching! We aren’t sure we’d want the honor of being beheaded either. Different times for sure!

Yay!! We are glad you’re getting excited to travel again! We can’t wait until the days of the future when travel has resumed properly!
Great video thank you. At 3:56 you are staring at the Chichen Itza with sun glasses on and its in the reflect. Great potential photo. Thank you
You are right! Great eye
Just beautiful! I can’t wait to visit there some day it will be awesome 😊
You'll have a great time!
The visit was stunning, i'm so happy we get to travel with you specially in these times. The food you ate looked WOW and ahhh i'm so jealous of you guys!!
Thanks for watching! We are very fortunate to be able to do some small amount of traveling!

Thank you for watching! We are glad you’re here!
Wow these spots all look absolutely stunning! I would so love to visit there one day!
It was a really great place to explore! You should definitely visit one day
So amazing that you guys got to experience that with little to no other tourists.
We couldn't believe it! It was more than we could have hoped for, such a unique experience, especially because usually 8,000 people come through every single day

Right? It’d be weird to just be chilling at home with your dead family members!!

Did you have to buy tickets ahead of time? :o
We bought them right at the gate when we arrived. Super easy
Can we take pictures using our own camera or do we need to pay to take pictures?
I believe there is a camera fee but it’s pretty minimal if our memory stands correct. Most places like that do have some sort of camera fee.
