Great video. I use a plastic spader to loosen the trim because they tend to crack right where the hole for the mic is. It never ceases to amaze me how HP hides screws.
Thanks a million from APO AE ! I am so grateful it worked...All tools the necessary tools came with it and from start to finish it took 11 mins! ;) Not too mention, it very easy and I needed extra glue for the for the speaker covers. Rob :)
So it's a WEBCAM CABLE! That's what all the other removal videos fail to mention! I'm very thankful you mentioned it. Now I can move forward on the rest of the screen replacement!
Right on man. Great vid. Just finished replacing the screen on my sis's laptop. Only thing that went a little wrong was that that speaker cover stretched a little now it's about 1/16" past the little indentation it sits in. No biggie tho. My sis is thrilled.
Thank you for showing me how to assemble the connector into the screen my screen was emitting white colour only full screen but when I change assimple the connecter it worked as the manufuctiral and it has been fixed and work . Thank you very much
This helped me bunches. I still need to go back with the rubber cement. After the fact, I think locating the screws and making a small hole in the perforated strip would be less intrusive. The small hole would always show, but I'm not confident the rubber cement will make that tape look new.
I did not have good luck with the cement. That's really the only part of the job that left me disappointed. I think if you can locate the screws and cut out a small hole, it will leave the front looking better. You can buy a new grille tape, but they're not cheap for what you get. Good luck. It only took me about 10 minutes to change the screen.
indeed this was very helpful and screen is very easily replaced, As for the screws I pin pointed its location and remove the screws without having to removing the screen, it worked great thx for the idea.
This was EXTREMELY helpful!! Thank you! I wanted to order from you because you have , but there was some kind of glitch with your website, and I couldn't. Might want to check it out. I also couldn't get the protective "grill" back on, but I don't really care. Thank you again!
My screen is very very dim, you can see it's showing what it should but you need a bright light right next to the laptop to see. Do I need to replace the screen or is there a connection problem?
I followed all steps I had it but once it came to disconnect the connector I pulled a bit too hard and looks like I damaged the connector is there a way to replace the connector?
My wife's laptop went dark. The light in it went out. Is the light part of the screen? or is it separate? In other words, if I go through this procedure is the light included? Thanks for the video
I ordered my screen from them after watching this video. Everything was great, there was a big delay until the screen arrived. Otherwise the replacement was very easy
After I disconnect the display cable, and remove the lid, could I just use the laptop with an external display (hdmi)? Would I face any boot / display issues without the display connected? Appreciate your help!!
My DV6-7 was significantly more difficult. The factory had taped the bezel to the screen and I had to pry the double-stick tape up. Ended up breaking a few tabs. That monitor cable/plug thingy is also a big pain in the butt. HP should have been ashamed. I got halfway through the bezel before I watched this video. Who the F*** puts tape over FOUR screw heads? I will never buy an HP or COMPAQted computer again.
