Very Helpful. First time changing outboard oil and this walked me through it perfectly - like others, the drain plug approach seems way easier to me - even if you have to take a panel off to get to it...
You'll need to run it once you changed the oil so it fills your filter, granted it's pointing down and it drains back after it's cut off but there is a little that stays in the filter and your filter is dry when you installed it. I recommend being in the upper range of the dip stick to compensate, just my 2 cents.
Yamaha F-150s hold 1 gallon and 1 quart of oil. After draining the oil, trim the motor all the way up. Wait about 5 minutes. Trim it all the way down, and you'll get another 1/2 quart of oil.
@@DIYeasycrafts I have that same 150 and to me I just take that oil plug out and it goes so much faster I also have a seadoo and you have to pump the oil out and it takes forever so I’d say just take the oil plug out 😂

No problem!
Good video
I do have the same pump and it makes the job less messy
My question is
How much dirty remains in motor vs removing the actual plug?
Yamaha 4strock engine 40 how to change oil oil filter

Thank you. Where did you purchase that pump?
Got it down at local marine hardware store. Fred Challs but you can get them at anyplace like West Marine or even online
Harbor freight sells them cheapest I think
Change the lower unit oil on a 115 Yamaha four stroke
Thanks for the video, very informative.
Alot easier and gets all the oil out if you just pull the oil drain plug out.
Why don’t you say your using a oil pump at the beginning.
Why did u not tell viewers the size of bolt on motor for wil drain
If you're not mechanically inclined enough to determine the correct socket for a bolt, I suggest you have the marina do all your work.
Why don’t you just take the oil pug out
Some outboards have a side cover. Its just easier this way

Could you let me know the brand/model oil pump and freshwater muffs? Or an Amazon order number for each 😄
