Hand guard removal is quick and easy when you have the correct tools.
Please comment below and tell me what the difference is between these cheap Amazon/Ebay quad rails, and the $100+ quad rails I see in the local gun shops. Not counting free floating rails, what's the major difference in quality?
Delta ring removal tool. Cute. My delta ring removal tools are at the ends of my wrists.
Lol
+pjamese3 word brother...word.
lol
Lol
I agree, the tool ain't really necessary unless of course you have girly hands!
I spent 26 years in the Army and never knew there was a delta ring tool lol. We always just used a bit of elbow grease to push the delta ring down.
But yes, the handguards on the M&P Sport II are garbage. I ended up putting an MOE handguard on mine (would’ve gotten an MLOK, but there weren’t any at my FFL at the time and just wanted a quick solution). I prefer the MOE or MLOK style handguards over the quad rails due to comfort. The MLOK would’ve been better since it’s much simpler to install accessories, but the MOE isn’t that bad. Generally, most MOE attachments include a tool to cut holes if necessary. But I do concede pic rails are even easier. I just don’t find them comfortable.
P.S. didn’t notice a heat shield on your quad rail. That was the main reason I upgraded.
Some are more expensive because theres a sucker born every minute
Robert Stickney Savage
Robert Stickney lol 😂
Very true man
Right
Lol
My quad rail came with NO instructions. Never dreamed the top secured outside the ring and I was ready to give up! Thank you.
No one gonna talk about how well he conceals?
Lol
😅😅
I thought it was his microphone receiver
Literally didn’t notice
FAB defense makes a rail that can be mounted to the bottom of the standard handguard. It is not as versatile as a quad rail, but still allows mounting bipods of vertical foregrips.
Excellent! Very well made, and even though it's several years since you did this video, it's going to help me a lot. Thank you!
Nice video... Just a tip. Anytime you install something new that requires screws, [always] use just a little
Lock Tight or simular product. They will seldom if ever send you any extras, and you [will not] find
those same screws at your local Hardware Store.
That's the same handguard I put on my M&P 15. I like it. Put a tac light on it right away.
I got my Sport 2 OR for Christmas and went with the Magpul upgrades mine came with heat shield built in but yours is nice too
Yes magpul is more expensive but you get what you pay for. With a 10 round clip you don’t have to worry about the hand guard meltdown. But it is an upgrade to look of the weapon. So that’s cool.

The OCD a person has to have to capitalize every word in a sentence is mind-boggling.
Just turned 60 Nov of 2019 and I can still remove mine without a tool all day long. Haven't had to do it in a while so after watching this vid I got one of mine. Removed the hand guard and had it back on in less than a minute. Still got it!!
Very helpful and better than the company installation instructions especially the fitting into the fitting into the delta ring area.
Thank you !
locktite your screws dude. looks sick tho.
I just got mine last week and fired it yesterday for the first time. Awesome entry AR. It was my first as well. I have an aluminum quad rail on mine but I am going to install a Magpul MOE as I think it looks better. Plus, I'll never use all of those rails! Great video!!
Great, now you have a new scratched up weapon. Enjoy looking at those marks!
That's why I don't have a UA-cam channel. these guys that nit pick you to death with little stuff like telling you how to pronounce tool names and how to talk would drive me nuts. Great video man, Thanks That's what I'm gonna do when I find a sport II in stock here in the Spring's. I can't wait until they vote the Democrats out of office here in Colorado and fix all the gun laws here in this state, otherwise it's off to Arizona or NM. These 10 round mag law suck here for AR's. keeps Walmart from even selling them. And if you smoke enough rounds through your AR to get those rails hot, put those little plastic protectors on it. Cheap fix. Oh yeah, I forgot to call a mag a clip. That really pisses 'em off :)
@Hugo Angulonow we have nothing to complain about on California.
@Hugo A Dude seriously? I thought we in California had it bad
First off I'm a Democrat and I believe in the 2 amendment! If you want a confederate supporting president then wait four years!!!
Come to Florida we don't believe in the bullshit Communist run government.
You can actually mount a Magpul RVG on the stock GI handgrips. Magpul even includes the hardware for this.
Thank you for your honesty to avoid mistakes
Basically the difference between $30-150 quad rail is the finish if you ask me. Also the weight seems to be more on the cheap ones.
Aluminum should work far better as a heat sink
Some are two piece and bolt together, some are machined one piece and some disassembly of the front sight may be necessary. Factory front and rear sights are fine for brush hunting, snap shooting and close combat situations. Most scope applications would require a modification of the front sight.
So your telling me people dont have enough hand/arm strength to pull down the delta ring and remove the hand guards without a tool?
Tools prolly just help it go quicker and easier
I was thinking that mine was hand serviceable. Hopefully that doesn't mean my rifle is defective
bought the m&p 15 yesterday,,but has the fixed mag,nj compliant model,,also want to install the quad rail,,,where else do i find them,,not a amazon fan
Question,,So A Metal Quadrail Doesn't Need A Heat Shield ,Or Is There Some Others That Come With It ??
For one I like the look of that new handguard. I also have the m&p 15 sport 2. I have the magpul handguard ojn it right now. Was thinking bout switching to the magpul m lok sl handguard. But after seeing this one now I might be looking into one like this because its always a hassle to install those rail sections for flashlights and bipods. With this one they are already attached and never coming loose. Either way I enjoyed your video.
Hello people. Is it possible to attach a foregrip on the factory rail without changing the quad rail?
I think some are more expensive because they have a heat shield built in because after firing with OEM part for awhile it gets so hot you can’t hold it
Aluminum rails dont come with heat shields.
I knew this guy meant business with that shirt
Damn rite
Lol
I paid $100 for mine and it weighs a few ounces less then the cheap one. The most important thing is that it does go into the top handguard cap, so it's more rugged. There is also handguards that fit in the top cap and the two pieces screw together, I would prefer that type. I also don't like how your top rail doesn't met up flush with the guad rail. Thats also a different thing with the cheap ones. We all start somewhere. My first ar15 was a S&W M&P Sport 2. Thanks for the great vids.
What did you mean by it not meeting flush? I didn't see that at all. Could you point it out?
I like it. Have to get the Quad Rail and a tool like the ones he's using because I like the way the "hook" part mounts into the mag well. AIM also makes a Quad Rail like this JTM one. I have/bought a S&W M&P 15 Sport II w/a Red dot to SPITE Joe Biden. No "Tower/tall" front sight, or the carry handle/rear sight like the orig. M-16, so I bought some "back up" iron sights. (Plan to buy a COLT AR 15 that looks like the ORIG. M 16 I remember using) I didn't go back to look, as to the exact M16/AR variant, but some guy did a vid & he attached a Pic rail to the bottom of a handguard using the holes in the METAL Heat shield in the bottom of the hand guard. Snug fit to get the bottom heat shield/handguard part w/the added mounting screws & the metal plate back in place. Think he attached a weapon light to the Pic rail. I think this quad rail is a better way to go vs. the single Pic rail add on. When he says "Squeeze your tool" (kind of a Beavis & Butthead moment) I cracked up -- I get it, HUMOR!!
I don't know initially about the high priced Quad Rails. Free floating sounds like an extra cost high tech version. The high price might be due to company name & its' markup amount--just like in the gun shops. I'm guessing some gun shops don't do the amount of business that online vendors do? Are some of these rails made by the same company making the weapon, so that they claim something "proprietary" and therefore "theirs" is better than some lesser known company? Maybe there are different grades of aluminum being used? Are some rails Chinese made (or??) or US made?
I ordered mine from OpticsPlanet for about $70 but I have a friend who might want to save some money. Great video and many thanks.
What is length of the quad rail you used? Man you do an excellent video, please do more us novice.
Is this the UTG carbine length quad rail??
Stock Smith handguards don't have heat shields????????????
Have you had any issues with that rail? Getting hot or anything?
I got 10 delta ring removers right here babay!!!!
Thank you ! I had the very same issues thinking the quad rail was to long , LOL.
Just got mine on, used screwdrivers to pry it up (not a pansy, just got a broken hand) and man did i not plan for the discomfort holding the rifle solely by the handguard 😂
Can you do the top as a quad rail, and the bottom half as the stock handguard?
Hockeymaskbob interesting idea but idk why you’d want to. The stock handguard has no heat shielding. If you’re gonna pay for a whole quad rail you may as well use the bottom rail for a hand stop or something. Just my opinion though. Who knows maybe if someone builds it right it would work great
@@willtowell4636 my PSA handguard has shielding, I like the feel and weight of the stock handguard, and it would certainly look unique.
I just pulled the delta ring down by hand ? No problem!
For you or anyone who has similar rails do they feel sturdy or can you feel some play in them?
I have this same rail on a cheap ar..It’s the aim sports quad rail. Can be had for 20 bucks if you look around. It locks up 100 percent solid,As long as your end cap is solid. Most are but I have seen an ar everynow and again with a loose end cap.Nothing much can be done to fix that other than some gunsmithing .But mine is solid.
i have the sport 2 and i got that rail coming in and 1000 lumen flashlight lazer and idk about the bipod
Archangel Henry8888 has the rail held up good any problems?
Archangel Henry8888 please don't bipod your weapon. don't be the tacticool guy. iron sights, red dot, flashlight, quad rail. nothing else is needed
Re: Has rail held up /any problems ?
The problem with drop in hand-guards unless you are talking about the hand-guards made by KAC for the military for the MK18 that have some additional hardware that is NOT present in commercial drop in hand-guards which "lock down" the hand-guard to a higher degree is that OPTICS, and LASERS should NOT be mounted to them as they "move" slightly. (You mount those to the receiver)
(Flashlights, grips are ok)
can we have an upgraded link for the quad rail and delta ring
Monstrum.com 20 bucks
Do I need a new gas block or can I use the stock gas block that came with m&p sport?
Only gotta change block if you get a floating handgaurd.
Does it feel hot with the quad rail while in use or does it feel the same as stock?
Did yours come with a heat shield in the rail, you need it if you're gonna be busting off a bunch of 223
Aluminum rails dont come with heat shields.
@@jesseemoore1959 you’ve posted that comment so many times. It’s not true. www.midwayusa.com/product/1003258678
Got mine off eBay for $14. Not bad for a cheap add on.
please tell me what brand the handguard has. thanks
Hi...I know it has been a while since you posted this, but I cannot find the product on Amazon. Can you please post the details on this item. Thank you.
Can you put a link as to which you bought on Amazon?
I got that exact same gun and considering getting the handguard before it runs out thru this website. Does it feel comfortable? Heats up?
plan on buying the sport 2 have you had any issues and hows the rail working? it'll be my first too
+Mackenzie McIntosh Hey! Mine has been solid. No issues, and I'm really happy that I got it as my first AR. I have about 1000 rounds thru mine, not a single issue. I recommend one to any new to the AR platform
+Just for Men Right on I'm super excited I think I'll get that rail too and maybe 500-600 rounds. did it come with a cleaning kit?
It did not come with a cleaning kit. All if came with was one Gen 2 - 30 roung PMag. Yours will be different if you're in Cali
I just got mine February 10th. I am extremely happy with it. I already have 200 rounds thru, no problems at all. I love it. (it's a gen 2 as well )
+Just for Men any chance you have a link for the quad rail? 35 bucks is nothing and it looks really good on yours
so amazon just doesnt sell gun parts anymore? not only are those two links dead, i cant find any handgaurd/quadrails
Right I've searched and found only a small display
@@kenray6008 I just bought a nice one off grabagun.com just search ar15 quad rail. It was the leapers utg I believe and was 40$. I'm waiting on it and my new sport 2 to arrive.
How big is that one 8.5 inch ?
I have a couple of quad rail pistols myself but I really don't recommend them. They are bulky fat even when there is nothing on them. They are less than comfortable to hold, even with covers. They are heavy. They get much heavier once you start hanging crap from them. If carbine length on an actual carbine and not a pistol, it will shadow a light badly anywhere but the end. Sling swivel is pretty useless anywhere but the end. I am going to change to a cheap smooth tube and drill, epoxy and bolt ( flat rails, round tube ) rails to just the spots I want, in just the lengths I want.
THANK YOU! Do you know if this is the same for the Tactical version?
I have vnevee nwwsws a tool to remove the cooling barrel gaurds.
What's the amazon hyperlink for the quadrail and tool?
Nice, I just saw online where they were like $23 with free shipping
MississippiOutlaw can you show me for link

Got one for my AR it's a nice handguard honesty I think you will be happy with it
how is it on sharpness i.e. burrs? heard some of these are like cheese graders on the rails?
Great looking 🎉😅
Thanks for posting. I'm going to pick up a Sport II as soon as I can. Would be interested in hearing more about how that quad rail is working for you. I don't mind saving some money, and don't need Magpul stuff because it is all the rage.
Does this work with the sport 2 model?
Appreciate the video. The more expensive handguards guys are probably because they come with heat shields. If u have a fully auto non regulated spec it would need it because it would heat up quicker from the rapid fire. That's why they cost more.
Thats a badd ass quad rail thats the one i wanna get also for my optics ready ca comp. I dont have that a2 sight on the barrel i wonder if there a quad rail for my model... sku 12055
What was the name the budget $35 quad rail hand grip? Need to order the correct one. Tx.
Can you put a link for that specific rail system?
Do you know if this would fit the mp 15 - 22 version? I’m pretty sure it would.
mp 15-22 does not use the delta ring system
@@1GiPhoner you can buy the delta ring for 20$
looks good is this the gvn one from amazon carbine length 6.7?
What is last T-Mark number on the upper receiver? I want to buy one but I can't find the one in the video. I found one on
midwayusa for 65$ and its the 6.7 length and the number sequence on rail is 18 - 30.
Thanks,
-Buddy
It is $35 because it doesn't have a heat shield, it's going to get hot quick.
Aluminum rails dont come with heat shields
@@jesseemoore1959 , stfu . yes they do look it up .lol
No no they dont...the aluminum rail free floats on the barrel nut. I own many of them and the only thing under the rail is the barrel the gas block and the gas tube. If they started putting heat shields under aluminum rails they sure have found a way to make them invisible.
So what size do I need? 7”?
Now u can put your cup holder on.I assume that might get hot so...
walter chiappini ,which would you recommend sir, any website or model number will be greatly appreciated ty
I have the same model. what is the length of the handguard? mine measures 6.7.inches. is it considered 6" or 7" in ad? thanx
AR's that have a CARBINE GAS SYSTEM are 6.75"
Can someone find the link for that hanguard rail
I know I'm late to the party but it looks like this quad rail was removed amazon... Anyone know of anywhere else I might can find it??
Optics planet, just got one in the mail.
NCSTAR
No longer on Amazon, I just checked in for the quad rail but no longer available
Monstrum.com 20 bucks
K1LLA V3XX don’t work
@@NeverStop909 I know I tried too
price dictates ease of installation ( better fit ) and very importantly weight my is 5 ounces.....nice tool .....I'll make one.....Thanks for your time....
Your Glock is printing like crazy
Next boys and girls we watch this guy eat pizza rolls and play xbox in his my basement stay tuned for next weeks show !!
Can you put a link to the parts website we’re I can buy
I went to the link for the quad rails. the page is no longer available. can you tell me what the size or the part number or anything to help me find it???
+Allen Miller Im also trying to find this or any other cheap rail that will work. If you find this product or any others that will "for sure" fit please let me know.
+Allen Miller I just ordered this from ebay, I will let you know if it works. www.ebay.com/itm/162067652636?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Did it work?
JackRayleigh Yes, only took about 20 min to swap, fits fine! It feels cheaply made, but is solid once its mounted. Im happy with it for $23, cant go wrong!
Thanks for the link. Looks well made; however it adds 3/4 of a pound to the weight of the weapon, not allowing for the original handguard.
my 20$ ones fit from aim sports. not sure if it was on Amazon. The cheap d tool worked well also. They add about 12 oz. to the front which i like for balance but some may not like more weight
amazon link doesnt work anymore
It's weird the shit they won't sell there now. I think the only stuff they'll sell there now is stuff that will fit on airsoft guns as well.
I wonder 🧐 if u did this off camera 1st
what bipod was that? and how much $$$ and from where? ty
How many inches is that quad rail?
buy off eBay, most items are free shipping. Amazon charges too much
Super Galleta you have that backwards
michael mackenzie, I checked Amazon and couldn't find any AR rails...
DKclark329 I was meaning as in Amazon has better free shipping options. I've never really looked into hand guards through them though. My misunderstanding
michael mackenzie
The problem with Amazon is that unless you're buying over $25 in items, you still have shipping. I can buy something less than $25 like a castle nut wrench or a phone case and still get free shipping on eBay.
The poors..
What was the Length of the new handrail .. 6.75 inches or 9 inches?
This one is 6.75 inches
+Just for Men
Thanks ... keep upgrading .. interesting seeing you go thru each step
I'm new to guns is the quad rail comfortable when you hold it?
Zeus Minard Not especially comfortable. But not painful either. There are other options if you’re looking for comfort. MLOK or KeyMod rails are pretty smooth. Also there inserts that can be placed on a quad rail making it more hand friendly.
a bit uncomfortable but you get used to it, and like the dude said there’s some pretty nifty inserts that make it comfortable
price of the rail has to do with the quality of the metal. that specific rail is probably going to run really hot.
Loren Chrisman, why would quality of aluminum affect heat dissipation?
it has nothing to do with the quality they are probably all made in the same factory in china just like bike parts then you pay for a logo
even the more expensive better quality metals should only cost an extra 20 bucks
if you buy a 6061 vs a 7075 bike part lets say a wheel since its has more material than a sprocket the price will go from 60 to 80 bucks
so how is paying 250 for a knights rail worth it?
Does it have a brand name? Length?
I purchased a similar looking quad rail for my AR. Haven't shot with it on yet but how does yours do with the heat? Does it heat up pretty bad ?
Can't be worse than the melting plastic I smell out of my stock handguards
no heat shields, but that still doesn't explain 3 digit quad rails, but it's a difference ;~
6.7?
Which quad rail is that? The link in the comments doesnt work. thanks!
I was curious about it too, but after shopping around a bit on Amazon, here's the link.

Awesome tutorial video!
A Devil Dogs delta ring tool, thumb & index finger. No room & time with such a tool to field strip any m16 service rifle.
How long is the new quad rail you order.
Its the one that's around 6.7 inches. I believe its the shortest ones because of the front sight post. I got a nice one of grab a gun. Com if you want I can give you a link. It was for my m&p sport 2 and was 40$ but it's nice
Chris Watson yeah. What’s the link? Thanks !
