My friend just bought his first AR, and I forwarded your review to him. This was maybe one of the best firearm reviews I have ever watched. Informative and direct, yet easy to understand. Well done my friend. I'm sure it will help him greatly.
Hey... You've produced a very good, accurate and well-informational presentation for those of us who are not 'Gun Guys'! Thank you very much! I'll follow-up on your accessories recommendations (important to accessorize well!).
Great rifle! I love mine. No problem with the barrel. Good accuracy. I love that they kept the bayonet lug (if for no other reason than to piss off the Coasts.) I believe S&W went with the cheap, unlined plastic handguards because most owners replace it first thing with Mlock, keymod or quadrail handguards. That being the case, they're saving money (and saving the customer money) with the plastic handguards (which will be replaced anyway.)
Yep my rifle used to be plain like his I changed out the stock and pistol grip and handguard to Magpul and changed out the charging handle and bolt carrier group and that's the other beauti of the AR platform
Great points on the hand guard! The first thing I did before even shooting it I put on a decent quad rail and magpul ctr stock, afg2 and k2+ grip and I love it. Bought it for like 550$ so after upgrades I'm at like $700 and have a really solid rifle
Great video. Thank you! In a world of noisy, goofy firearms channels with sometimes ignorant or biased narratives, this is refreshing! And I love my Sport II. It's simply an outstanding rifle for the money. Peace.
I bought one a week ago, started buying furniture right away, got a quad rail forearm, red dot sight too. Very happy with this rifle. Mine has the forward assist and dust cover, which I'm kinda glad about. I think I did very well for the money on this rifle.
I'm finding these videos very informative, I happened upon this M & P 15 by chance when I clicked on an e mail of a weekly news update from the Good Patriot website, and was looking through some of the firearms that I seen, and I've always been drawn to the AR's platform and had often thought about owning one when this particular time I noticed the price tag was under $900 I knew that was a good deal as I'd been checking them for a few years, so I figured I'd buy myself one Christmas gift this year. Now I'm waiting on my 3 day waiting period/back ground check and I take my Concealed Weapons permit class December 19th
This is a great video because it is simple and the presenter gets right to the point and stays on topic. Too many videos the presenter is all over the place. Well done.
Exactly! Most of us simply can't afford the 2k dollar rifles, so these "budget" rifles are absolutely essential to keeping the republic armed. I don't even like calling these "budget" or "entry level" because they're an absolutely superb option.
Thank you. Good review. Just bought one today, my first AR. Did my research and you confirmed what I thought I was buying, A really good first AR. Can't wait to pick it up and hit the range. Thanks again.

Being a bigger person, I made some comfort upgrades to mine. 1- A Magpul MOE SL hand Guard (Carbine Length), The extra length allows me to hold it a little farther out. It gives me more control. 2- A Magpul MOE+ Pistol Grip, It rubberized, overmolded with a beaver tail. it fills out my hand better and you get a better grip than the stock one IMO. 3- A Magpul MOE SL-K stock, It's slightly smaller and curved on the bottom which lets it fit into my shoulder better, plus the rubber butt pad makes it grip on the shoulder better.
"98% won't even notice". You used that phrase twice. Refreshing. The other 2% would use their arrogance to down play this exceptional AR-15. Thanks for your honest, straight forward approach.
Great video! I just bought one of these and have been searching for information on upgrades and accessories. Military/LE actually have used and still use Colt AR-15s since they bought the rights, however colloquial use of the term AR-15 commonly refers to civilian variants
@@sethw1015 That's true. I just thought it'd be interesting to point out, Colt actually did manufacture a number of m16 rifle variants modeled as "AR-15"s (with select fire functions) and that some of those original Colt AR-15 have been used by the military. Just thought it was interesting.
I take issue with solely relying on the barrel snake. Run it through 15 or 20 times then put some copper solvent through it and you'll see that the snake misses a little bit. Love your videos (subbed off of this series). I have one of these rifles, and absolutely love it-- More importantly, I have *confidence* in it after putting it through it's paces at the range! It's a common problem with ''entry ARs,'" apparently, so *CHECK YOUR TRIGGER PINS!* After an easy installation of a $15 set of 'anti-walk' pins, my rifle is a *badass* on the range!
who says American Companies make crap? We should ALWAYS Not take American Firearms Manufacturers for granite. Its time we started taking care of our OWN for a change. Kudos to S&W.
I own the Sport 1 (1-9 twist). Awesome rifle, but I only had two issues - the picatinny rail seems out if spec, tried two different holosun RD and both slide on the picatinny with recoil... with it fully tightened. I had to change out the extractor spring at app. 2500 rounds due to failure to eject.

It's hard to remove pull down the Delta ring to remove the handguards, so I bought a special tool designed to pull the Delta ring down. I also replaced the standard charging handle with an ambidextrous Radeon Raptor charging handle.
@@yoyoleone: That's good. But my rifle is new and the handguards were almost impossible to move down. They weren't like the ones that were on my M16 rifle in the service many years ago. Those rifles had been handled many times over the years and the handguards were easy to remove. Not so on my civilian AR.
Magpul furniture optic of your choice BCM BCG and MOST of all trigger of your choice PSA nickel plated or whatever is a great budget choice all in all a perfect starter rifle I’ve turned on 2 people to it as there first AR and they love it also is a solid extra rifle as in my case. looking to get the AR10 sport now with the new PA scope gonna be sick
One thing I would add is a buttstock pad. .223/5.56 rounds don't kick a lot, but they kick enough that if you shoot a couple hundred rounds your shoulder can start to get a little sore.
For some dumb-ass reason, last time I was at the range I shouldered mine directly on my collar bone (stupid!) and it actually bruised me a bit!! After about the 4th or 5th round I was like, "Why does this hurt?" and then I realized where I had the rifle shouldered. Doh!
Iraqveteran8888 did a meltdown on this one shooting full auto (something this rifle isn't even meant to do) and this still fired while it was on fire. You can't beat the quality for the money, one of the best rifles out there. I threw some magpul furniture on mine and called it a day.
Yes. And, people are always going to make their firearms their own. I, like many, have changed the grip, the handguard, and the stock. Great rifle. Never had an issue with anything. It was great to watch Iraqveteran8888 put it through hell. I watch that twice a year.

Very good video. I just got the Sport II. Do you have a video that goes over cleaning and maintaining the Sport II, or could you make one? It'd be most helpful to those of us who have it as our first rifle.

Got mine last week, but it didn't come with the iron sights. Being a new AR owner, what are the iron sights this one came with? Also, I've been doing a lot of research and am uncertain as to which red dot optic to get. I'm leaning towards the Sig Sauer Romeo5, but I'm liking some by Holosun as well. Granted, Eotech optics would be ideal, but I can't justify that cost right now. Great video, thanks!

horatiodreamt I just used my hands
I like the content I’ve been looking at m&p AR15 you did a great job making points on the rifle and made up my mind
Thanks for the overview!
I bough an M&P15 Sport 2 April 2nd. Love it!
Awsome presentation thank you.
Just got one yesterday, this is a great video!
Great review; thanks!
Doh!
They will never hurt even all day shooting ...it's like a glorified 22
Iraqveteran8888 did a meltdown on this one shooting full auto (something this rifle isn't even meant to do) and this still fired while it was on fire. You can't beat the quality for the money, one of the best rifles out there. I threw some magpul furniture on mine and called it a day.
Yes. And, people are always going to make their firearms their own. I, like many, have changed the grip, the handguard, and the stock. Great rifle. Never had an issue with anything. It was great to watch Iraqveteran8888 put it through hell. I watch that twice a year.
@@toddm9501 Yup, put a bunch of magpul furniture on mine. It's not my primary rifle, but it's a great backup. Love it.
Thanks for the information!!
I've purchased one but have to wait until May 14th to have it in hand (Thanks to Washington State & I-1639).
Can't wait to get out & shoot!!!
Michael Robitaille what online store did you use
@@drivem42 I am going through a Brick & Mortar FFL in West Richland (Talos Tactical).
Only thing I changed out was the heat shield if you want to call it that. Thing seemed it would melt if I shot another full magazine.
Great video, very informative and well represented
Wow such a beautiful firearm
Very good video. I just got the Sport II. Do you have a video that goes over cleaning and maintaining the Sport II, or could you make one? It'd be most helpful to those of us who have it as our first rifle.
Just picked up my 1st AR today
excellent vid...thanks
Great video, i see a lot of peoples videos they buy an AR and before they even fire it they are purchasing all kinds of artistic upgrades , I LMAO , most weapons shoot great out of the box no upgrade needed the MP sport is one of those. 9.999 % of us will never see combat but you never know in this country today.
