Smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport II - Shoot, Review, Change furniture!

- I picked up an awesome entry level AR 15. In this video I give a quick review of the rifle and then change out some of the furniture including the hand guard, the grip, and the butt stock with Magpul MOE.

The only investment I made on my S&W M&P 15 Sport II was to replace the handguard with a Magpul. The handgrip and butt stock are just fine. I don't care if there's a little looseness in the butt stock. I'm not going to be snoopin' & poopin' out in the woods looking for bad guys. This rifle is a great all-around rifle for target shooting, hunting, self-defense and SHTF if necessary, but my main interest is going to the range and shooting at targets at 100-200 yards. No competition shooting, but just for pleasure. Some people play pool, some shoot dice, I shoot targets. Semper Fi
Good one. The Sport II seems to be among the best lower cost ARs out there.

This is the best review I have come across on UA-cam yet! I’m a woman and 44 years old looking for my first AR 15 and this is the one I want to get now. Absolutely love my sport 2! Paid 500 flat and even get to do payments! It came with a red dot,3 full mags which 2 are pmags,and one authentic green metal mag,and they’re all loaded with green and black tip ammo and some hollow points for home defense! It has a bright green laser and flashlight,Od green magpul furniture, and a vertical grip! First ar-15 I’ve ever owned in my house other then training up to it with our ruger 10/22 in the archangel 556 conversion kit! So I kinda got the feel for it! I also picked up a new Taurus g2c last week from rural king gun barn which is where I may be working! The wife doesn’t like it as much as I do when I get new guns lol these deals just don’t stop falling into my lap!

I added magpul furniture to mine and I love it
I’ve had my M&P15 II for some time now-love it-ZERO issues. I can’t leave well enough alone, though, and just replaced the upper with a lightweight “pencil” barrel with mid-length gas system. The result is a noticeable weight reduction, and a bayonet now fits correctly. Other than those two improvements, I’m really not feeling a reduction in felt recoil, and S&W’s heavier barrel may actually be more accurate. The theory is that a 16” barrel should have a mid-length system, but whatever S&W tweaked (gas port size, etc.) to make a carbine system work well, they seem to have it figured out. I run Sig red-dot, back-up irons, and a white light attached to the Magpul handguard.
I put almost the exact same furniture on my m&p except the stock. Great gun!

Cabelas and century arms ripped me off about $400 sold me a junk RAS47. Luckily the guy at the gun store hooked me up and got me into one of these and i couldn't be happier awesome rifle.

Look at Magpul K2 plus... Rubberized plus more vertical grip... With a stash spot inside.. I put a Hogue Overmolded Buttstock.. rubberized as well an a Magpul SL hand guard.. I put a CMC drop in trigger but you don't really need 1

I just got this AR today at a gun show new in box along with two 30 round PMags, and four boxes of ammo (3 20 round boxes of 5.56, 1 30 round box of 223 for $600 out the door.
Now I'm looking for a replacement handguard as my first upgrade. I cannot wait to shoot this gun. It's my first AR so I'm very excited. Good video.
Now that you've had it for awhile, what do you think? I love mine. What a fantastic rifle. Zero issues.

@@rickmeadows686 it adds up over time if you shoot alot. But you question was why would you get that caliber and that's the reason lol whether it's by much or not
I have pretty much the same magpul furniture on mine. I just went with the SL Handguard. Is that the K2+ grip? Looks like the same one I have very good grip with or without gloves. This is my first AR and I don’t have any regrets making my decision!
Very satisfying video! I own an M&P 15 and, IMHO, you changed everything that needs changing! (Except maybe the "A2 grip." I really like mine...) 😏

I know the price is up but I'm seeing them for 800 at Buds and even Cabelas.
I own the sport 1 And 2...and I can tell you from shooting my sport1.without forward assist and dustcover for 2yrs in so.Idaho windy desert ...no difference....awesome rifles....gotta admit love the forward assist andiction dustcover on the sport 2...even though technically I've never needed either, because i always breakdown n clean my rifles after1,000 rounds ....
you're right, FA and dust cover are nice to have but not necessary. I love this rifle.
Funny, I replaced all the A2 furniture to Magpul, just like this guy. Best budget rifle on the market!
I've put a lot of rounds through this rifle since i made the video and zero issues. Fantastic rifle. IraqVeteran8888 did a torture test video and was quite impressed.
The stock also has the QD mount, as opposed to the moe. Mine comes with the handguard already on it. Gonna change the grip to either the Hogue or miad 1.1

1:9 twist is the way to go. You can shoot the smaller bullets and still shoot large up to 77 grainers. The 1:8 is pretty good still allowing some small bullets but the 1:7 chokes out the smaller bullets for only large. The new M&P 15 with different style barrel is chrome lined SKU 11511 where the Sport 2 variations are not. Also no fore stock/grip heat shield on the Sport 2 and it is worth it for the small price of the heat shield upgrade. Called the prepper's rifle, the basic rifle is a great rifle for the price. I may get one at a later date sometime but I am more than happy right now with my AR15A3 20 inch chrome lined H-Bar 1:9 full size Del-Ton.
RB M i don’t want to sound rude but I have a 1:7 barrel from a company where I live and I shoot a lot of smaller grain bullets out of it and never chokes on me

Be sure to purchase a bore sight ! They are cheap and are good to have for other guns, sight it on at home first , then go to the place where you target practice!

I just replaced the hand guard, stock, and pistol grip with ones made by magpul. They are great choices.

I'm surprised to hear that. I've never had one issue of any kind. And neither has anybody else I know. I'd be talking to whoever you got it from. Hope you can get that sorted out.
NB88 yes i know everyone said is really good rifle but I won the lotto with mine , last night I was shooting at the range and for no reason the rear pin got out and the rifle opened on the middle of the shooting
I'm looking to get my first AR. Everybody likes the S&W but everyone changes out the stock and grip, I'm thinking the SA Saint may be the way to go. A little more money but already has an upgraded stock and grip! Yes, no???
S&W had to cut some corners to offer that price on the stock and grip but the rifle itself is - i think - very good quality for the price. Check out the torture test IraqVeteran8888 did. He was very impressed with how well that rifle did.

I have this gun... I've only added an optic scope... I want to turn the rifle into a hunting gun, that can be used in "tactical situations" 🙄 I was impressed with the iron sights.

Original handguard and stock butt look much better than your replacements. Your "advantages" are purely not needed!
