Thank you for asking, the results was back, the bad news was that the one large nodule in the lung was cancerous, the good news was that it has not metastasized! I had a Robotic lung surgery to remove the nodules and 30% of the lung in Jan, I am fully recovered now, will be having my follow up catscan in July!

I had a CT scan of my lungs last May which confirmed a diagnosis of bronchiolitis obliterans (mosaic pattern and air-trapping on expiration). Incidentally found was a 5-mm solid nodule in my right upper lobe. 12-month followup was recommended for the nodule, so I'm having it done May 15.
I'm on supplemental oxygen during sleep and when flying, and my pulmonologist prescribed daily azithromycin because oral steroids exacerbate my chronic depression.
I'm 68 and only smoked socially in my late teens/early 20s. I'm also immunocompromised because I inject a biologic for psoriatic arthritis. Vaxxed to the max and am in the minority to have never had COVID.
I also have an Inspire device to treat severe sleep apnea implanted in my right upper chest wall which precludes any MRIs of my torso.
Needless to say, I'm very concerned about this nodule because I don't want to add lung cancer to my problem list! 🤷‍♀️🙏 But nothing surprises me any more.

My CT Scan shows a 16MM GGN with a 9MM solid nodule inside, and a couple small 3/4 MM solid nodules around the GGN, I was told to do a PET scan and follow up with biopsy to be sure if it is malignant!

I think that's a smart idea to do the PET scan. From what I was told if there is solid white showing on the CT scan imaging it can mean that a cancerous tumor has formed. I am glad you will do more investigating to find out if it is cancerous or not. The lung is not an area we want to be lax about. Good luck with it all. I am sure this is weighing heavy on you.

@@shannonmatheson1587 thank you, Shannon , I am hoping this is benign but many researches pointing to cancer, I should know after the biopsy is performed and hopefully it is at a beginning stage so using VATS for resection might be the only choice. I should update the post after what I find out!! Again, thank you for your response!

I appreciate this being posted. I have found out last November that I have a ground glass opacity on my right lung and I've been told to remove it and the surrounding lymph nodes. I did a second CT Scan (in June 2021) 6 months after it was first noticed on a CT scan I had done in November 2020. That CT scan showed there was no change in size or shape at all to the GGO from the first imaging, but it's a size that two different doctors feel is too big to wait and watch. I am very hesitant to remove a third of my lung, but don't want it to develop into a full on tumor and lung cancer. Tough decision for me to make. Do I roll the dice and keep doing scans to keep an eye on things or be proactive and remove it now? I am being nudged by my doctors to remove it as these things typically develop into a cancerous tumor. And yet I am still thinking, but what if it's a GGO that is in the small percentage status of not developing into anything more serious or goes away?

Yesterday I had a CT scan for diverticulitis. I went to my medical app. The radiologist stated on his report that I have faint ground glass opacity lower chest. My doctor called me, told me that I have diverticulitis, she did not mention GGO. I should be worried huh? My upper back has been hurting when I do dishes

My GGON is 16MM (1.6CM) with a 10MM (1 CM) solid component inside!
I am trying to understand the analysis, does it mean that if the size of the solid component inside of the GGON is more than 50% of the GGON, the chance of cancer is high, but if the solid component inside of the GGON is less than 3CM, it is 93% curable?

someone by the name of Devi Nepal asked me a question regarding size of my GGO. I got an email about it but don't see your name to reply back to. So I am writing back this way...only thing I can think of. I hope you see it. The current size is 2.7cm with 11mm soft tissue component. That was from my last CT scan. I have been monitoring it since Nov 2020. It's very very slowing growing.

Petscan result : Centrolobulair emphysema . Nodule 7mm in lobe + lobulated nodule with spicular processes and attraction of the oblique paramediastinal fissure in the apex of the left lower lobe . 2 excavating lesions in lobe with nodularly thickened wall and traction of the adjacent scissure . Multiple cystic and centrolobulair emphysematous lesions . Atelectasis strands dorsobasaal in the lower lobes . Nodulair frosted glass densities peripherally in both lungs . The pulmonologist does'nt know what caused all this . No treatment and no diagnosis . Wait 4 months and then do a ct-scan to see if it has gotten worse . He says it could be a tumor . 2 years ago my sister passed away from lung cancer . Told this to pulmonologist . My symptoms are shortness of breath , tiredness , weakness in the hands an legs , pain , and blue discoloration of the skin around the mouth with minor exertion . I also have livedo reticularis all over my body . Can you help me ? My email address is : marquita.battiau@telenet.be
