People paid for GTA V, Online is basically free with all it's DLCs. It's not destroying the game if the old gen consoles can't handle the new updates. And I'm not hating, I still play on Xbox One
This happened to me yesterday. I haven’t played GTA in a year since I joined the military. I got my Xbox and TV sent to me and started playing again and this started happening. It’s NEVER happened before.
It's happening to me and it's more than likely Rockstar's way of trying to get us to pay for new gen and move there. But more people have old gen and have more friends on old gen.
Notice how this starts happening a lot right after next gen comes out? Its called "planned obsolescence" or an intentional expiration date hard wired into a device so they can make the old gen obsolete and make people buy next gen devices. The ps4 and xbox 1 are set up to fail as soon as next gen comes out to make you spend more money. Its a lesser known marketing technique.
Except it's not planned obsolescence, R* is intentionally ruining the experience of last gen players to force them into buying the game again, but it's being done retroactivelly with each update, like Apple does. Planned obsolescence, as the name implies, has to be planned, this is an after though, with the same result for users, but not the same concept.
Upgrade to a internal SSD and you will see most of these issues being greatly alleviated. I got a very simple video of it on my channel if it interests you.
1) The game wasn’t as big back then. 2) the game stopped receiving updates, because the old hardware couldn’t handle more content being added. 3) the game was designed for that generation. 4) the games fidelity is significantly worse on those consoles, so it doesn’t have to work as hard processing the content.

Second of all adding a few cars and a few properties doesn't change how the game loads textures and handles physics. Obviously they broke something with texture caching on purpose so that people buy new systems and get the enhanced edition of gtav for another $60.
Since the Criminal Entreprises dlc, playing the game on PS4 no longer is a pleasant experience. The frame rate is terrible, the game starts freezing unexpectedly, and worst offender of them all, the map has trouble loading. I thought something was wrong with my PS4, but I guess this is a problem for all. Truly a shame...
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t always like that. I can’t remember seeing a lot of map glitches, not loaded textures or game freezes before like a few months ago. Maybe it’s just R*s inability to playtest their updates, maybe (tinfoilhat mode on) they did this on purpose to encourage people to switch to next gen. There are videos out there showing how R* patched their games to look slightly worse before a rerelease of the same game, so its not too much out of the blue to assume.

I mean I have my PS4 there but why would I play PS4 when I have a PS5 that can run everything better. Companies have been using these underhanded tactics forever. It's a memory leak problem which is also happening on current gen and PC, but on those platforms the effects aren't this severe because they are just bruteforce through them(SSD helps a lot with that too).
It has become the "new normal" after the Criminal Enterprise update. Before that, the freeze only happened in front of the casino when I sprint along the highway.
I don't know what the fuck R* did, but it was on The Criminal Enterprises. The game has been running like shit since I started playing, but at least there wasn't a black hole in LS before this update

If I had to guess they are doing Something (God knows what) To intentionally slow down old gen copies of the game to make people go to PS5/X and Spend more on E & E. Knowing Rockstar it's probably that. And Rockstar were a bit less Greedy (not by much but still) 2 Years ago. And PS3/360 didn't have PS5 Updates thrown onto them. Which is why they didnt tank their performance and Graphics once 2016 Wrapped up. Of course it could also just be the updates are too big and Old Gen is starting to Struggle. Especially cause it's 90 FUCKING GB Worth of 9 year old game.

Keep in mind unlike the ps3 and 360 days these different ports are pretty close these days and might have the same codebase. If it's an accidental include it could be reverted though.

last time I tried doing a time trial on ps4 I failed because I kept freezing for a good 3-4 seconds, or the map wouldn't load, so I wouldn't see where I was going. 10/10 game

A couple buddies and I were racing, and I was in third. Suddenly the game froze at the same time for all three of us. After a moment, the game continued, but I had switched places with first. It was as if someone stopped the game, moved the cars, and restarted.
They’re definitely gonna patch this next update with some optimisations, but yeah, not only is the game engine being overloaded with the massive amount of content that needs to be rendered, consoles are actively melting because of it.

The constant freezing and loading in of the map almost has a certain charm to it though that I don’t think can be replicated by any other massive game.
ps4 just isnt equipped for gta after all those updates, since over 84756486% of the population is switching to pc it shouldnt matter now. up until 2018 ish is when ps4 started becoming out of date, i mean the console did come out like in 2012 or 2013 or sum so yeah this is expected i think the ps4 had one of the best console runs of all time tho.

It has been going on with my PC for the past 2 years, even AFTER upping the RAM. Everything else seems to be really normal on my PC, except when I alt-tab with GTA Online open I get popups showing numerous malwares detected of exploits/trojans for GTAV.exe file. Man I just finally upgraded from Xbox 360 for the first time to XBOX ONE X and was super excited to play GTA 5 on next gen for the first time, even though that next gen isn't even the new Series X. I'm sad if this is true. Because when it shutdown online in 360 I was so excited to finally buy an Xbox One and I literally got it this week, for real I played 12 hours of GTA 5 single player yesterday I love first person, and haven't even touched online yet though I was super excited to. I really hope it isn't as bad as you guys say. But I'm really not that worried. They supported Xbox 360 up until last year and there was always full lobbies and stuff. I don't think most people even own a series x or ps5 and instead play on Xbox One or PS4. I'm pretty sure the servers will be active for a few years atleast. But I can't believe I just finally upgraded from xbox360 and this end times naysayers is what I see before I even load up online for the first time. I assume that this is the case: This happens when there is too many models or something like that, so in order to reduce the triangle count, other stuff unloads. Obviously there's too much content for the old gens. Happens when I install a "all cars real life counterpart" type mod with my lspdfr high poly cars.

A few missions, cars and recycled asset filled interiors doesn't magically make the game run slower it only adds space needed to have the game installed. It would be one thing if the last update rockstar updated graphics for gtav on last gen but they said they didnt do anything. No update in the past 5 years has actually changed how the game looks, behaves, or acts in free roam.

PS3/Xbox 360 world loading was even better. That 5400RPM Drive in them really made the game a different experience.
I mean, they also used way less detailed assets, but yeah, I get your point, back in the day, streaming systems where way better tuned.

Missions and story mode have no problems at all, but if you drive in the city area you’re fucked

I've actually noticed some occasional loading issues in story mode as well as more crashes
Story mode is smooth for me no lag, FPS drops, freezing or graphic problems i'm on the PS4 slim as well.

What massive content? The agency and the new cars and a handful of missions? The game worked fine before the last update. Its on purpose, the game is now running trash on PC too since the latest update and I have a 3070. They want you to buy a ps5 or series x and get the enhanced edition of gtav online for $60.
@@Sythorize no, gta online was always unoptimized even before the update. Online performance depends on the amount of people in your session and since rockstar doesn't have dedicated servers 30 player lobbies are going to always run like shit no matter what

@@bud856 yeah but even normally on streaming you get those lag inputs, it just seems weird that it could run smoothly streamed but once played on your console it has trouble loading, he pulled out the new Camaro with the new LS mods full speed and no lag or texture issues, just feels more like it’s on purpose to get you to upgrade

The constant freezing and loading in of the map almost has a certain charm to it though that I don’t think can be replicated by any other massive game.

These issues were even present (though to a lesser degree) when played on PS5 through backwards compatibility.
ps4 just isnt equipped for gta after all those updates, since over 84756486% of the population is switching to pc it shouldnt matter now. up until 2018 ish is when ps4 started becoming out of date, i mean the console did come out like in 2012 or 2013 or sum so yeah this is expected i think the ps4 had one of the best console runs of all time tho.

It has been going on with my PC for the past 2 years, even AFTER upping the RAM.
Everything else seems to be really normal on my PC, except when I alt-tab with GTA Online open I get popups showing numerous malwares detected of exploits/trojans for GTAV.exe file.
And now it's been happening to everyone else. Finally I am no longer in the lonely boat of facing THIS issue..
Man I just finally upgraded from Xbox 360 for the first time to XBOX ONE X and was super excited to play GTA 5 on next gen for the first time, even though that next gen isn't even the new Series X. I'm sad if this is true. Because when it shutdown online in 360 I was so excited to finally buy an Xbox One and I literally got it this week, for real I played 12 hours of GTA 5 single player yesterday I love first person, and haven't even touched online yet though I was super excited to. I really hope it isn't as bad as you guys say.
But I'm really not that worried. They supported Xbox 360 up until last year and there was always full lobbies and stuff. I don't think most people even own a series x or ps5 and instead play on Xbox One or PS4. I'm pretty sure the servers will be active for a few years atleast.

Like I'm having so much fun playing the story in first person I haven't played story since 2013 but player single player up until it shutdown December 2021 and I finallllllly upgraded to Xbox One X and had a great time playing singleplayer and wanted to hop Online for the first time today to finally see all the crazy new stuff they've added since 360 stopped getting updated like 8 years of updated stuff I've wanted to try on my fav game and I LOVE first person and am afraid of those flying motorcycles y'all keep crying about so when I play online for the first time today since xbox360 player days, I really hope it's way more active and fun for a few years than you say.

This happens when there is too many models or something like that, so in order to reduce the triangle count, other stuff unloads. Obviously there's too much content for the old gens.
Happens when I install a "all cars real life counterpart" type mod with my lspdfr high poly cars.
they want you to buy a ps5 or series x and have to purchase the game again. Its another $60 in their pocket. A few missions, cars and recycled asset filled interiors doesn't magically make the game run slower it only adds space needed to have the game installed. It would be one thing if the last update rockstar updated graphics for gtav on last gen but they said they didnt do anything.
No update in the past 5 years has actually changed how the game looks, behaves, or acts in free roam.
