    It was his portrayal in the animated series, that made Mr. Freeze become my favorite Batman villain. The late Michael Ansara was damn amazing in his voice role.

    Out of all the Batman villains, I view Mr. Freeze as a really tragic character. I mean this guy deserves deep sympathy. He's the only one that is actually not evil or a bad person; just a man with very bad luck on his side. I hope I'm not the only one who always felt bad for Freeze.

    Mr. Freeze is propably my favorite Batman villain.

    1:06 ok this wasn't really wasn't necessary mr freeze should've retired after subzero I know he's a complex interesting and sympathetic character but this new motivation took that sympathy away and he came off as a complete and total jackass I mean mr freeze fulfilled his wish by curing his wife there was nothing left for him to do

    Mr. Freeze's appearance in Batman: The Animated Series was my introduction to the character. And he is just like everybody else who experienced a great tragedy in their lives, but with an 'icy' containment suit as well as a freeze-gun. Michael Ansara (RIP) really brought the character to life during his time behind the mic.

    So I get it. They did a revamp on "The New Batman Adventures." But there's still not an explanation as to how he lost the red goggles and got red eyes. They weren't red in the 1st place.

    Batman Beyond had the best death for Freeze. I still remember the last exchange where Batman says, "You'll die." And Freeze says, "Believe me, you're the only one who cares." Great way to end what was essentially a tragic villain.

    mr freeze from a "what motivates him" point of view is really simple. revenge over pain caused, his being an ice man makes him bad ass but also near impossible to show on the big screen. i think of the franchise hadnt of shifted so much, he could have been done in a penguin like way, in which he has some cold suit elements and is dark and twsited and surreal like batman returns, hes my fave bad guy ever!

  • @FlameG102
    @FlameG102 15 років тому

    Its good to see how in Batman beyond they returned him to a more tragic character than he was in TNBA. In TNBA, he was just a sociopath torn from how hi life was now devoid of meaning and he was a monster. in Batman Beyond, he is revived, a new body is cloned for him, and he tries his bet to make up for what he did as a criminal, now that he had supposedly been rid of his sub zero biology. and when he reverted back to it , He was just really sad again...

    His frozen state rapidly deteriorated his body; the only part of his body that could be saves was his head, so he decapiated himself. Even though Nora was revived and Freeze yearns to be with her, he can't because, essentially, he is 'impotent'. Poor, poor Victor.

    They basically gave the animated Mr Freeze origin to Dr Octopus in Spiderman 2. Dr Octopus also was made more sympathetic by giving him the tragic wife story which pushed him over the edge into super villainy.

  • @TDKiller415
    @TDKiller415 13 років тому

    @CheesyGranola True, but it was sad again. He was genuinely sorry for all the harm he caused and was prepared to donate large sums of money to everyone he ever hurt. All he wanted was to be normal again.
    But in "CC", I think it called for a dramatic death scene.

  • @ImAlexGoodwin
    @ImAlexGoodwin 13 років тому

    @Deader87 i heard it was like the condition he had was so severe that it spread into his entire body thus rendering it useless. Something along those lines. So while his head was still safe, they amputated it. Somehow he survived the surgery and they attached his head to a weird robot.

  • @tolchok89
    @tolchok89 15 років тому

    Got a good idea for a new Mr. Freeze now!
    Similar to the comics origin, with his wife being cryonically frozen. He himself gets frozen and survives, but cannot survive without a suit he developed to regulate body temperature in any weather.
    He becomes a serial killer, and injects his victims with liquid nitrogen, kind of like how the Dark Knight had the Joker scar his victims and use makeup instead of Joker Venom.

  • @HindsightPOV
    @HindsightPOV 13 років тому

    @FiswaT
    I know that. I'm saying the origin given to Dr Freeze from the Batman animated series was so effective, it was ripped off when the Dr Octopus character was written to make him more sympathetic in Spiderman 2.

With nothing worth living for anymore, he just set out to make sure the rest of the world would feel the same sorrow he did, in a way, losing all humanity, hence the red eyes.

    He has a frozen cell in Arkham Asylum. When I saw it, and he wasn't free, I just assumed the Joker didn't unfreeze him because he would have been problematic to his overall goals. Such in a way he didn't plan on releasing Poison Ivy... it just sort of happened, and he ran with it when an opportunity presented itself.
    The only reason Freeze is in Arkham is because they possess the faculties to restrain him. He isn't insane... well, at least I don't consider him insane.

    I just thought of a great reason why Mr. Freeze has no emotions. The reason isn't because of an affect of crygenic mutation, but because he HAS to have no emotions. In the aftermath of the incedint with his CEO, Freeze, beliving that his wife was dead, started to cry. Even though Freezes blood is now cold, his tears are still hot and when they ran down his face, they reacted harshly with his skin, burning his eyes and face. In order to stay alive, Freeze used hypnotic suggestion on himself.

    @Mikeanglo I prefer to think that the incarnation of Mr Freeze after Subzero (aka the redesigned 'robot' one) never happened. Mr Freeze's story was done when Nora was cured. He was a moral man driven by unfortunate circumstances, but his ultimate objective was achieved, and he had no more reason to commit crime. His turning into a misanthrope was a cheap motivation which was against his character and was only implemented as an excuse to have more characters for the revamped show.
