His design in TAS was already perfect. I don't know why they decided to mess up his eyes in this one. It was such an iconic look. Glad they brought it back in Return of the Joker.

Yeah they should have left Joker's design alone. But at least they redesigned him again later on on Justice League, to look still streamlined, but adding more color back as he used to have, so there's that. Here's what I mean, what an improvement over the TNBA design: cdn.escapistmagazine.com/media/global/images/library/deriv/1264/1264916.jpg

I personally love the Joker's design in Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. It really matches the concept of mixing the original design of the Joker from the original animated series, but more of the modern day look. They should have used that in The New Batman Adventures, instead of the White and Black concept for him.

what I think why joker is batmans opposite is that batman lacks a sense of humor and the joker on the other hand has such big sense of humor to the point where he cant ever be serious even when his schemes and sometimes even life are in danger and on the verge of failing.

Nothing to the Joker is sacred other than Batman, uses guns including to kill, a brutal remorseless malevolent murderer so you can add all that in.

He does that because in his delusional mind he choose the wrong path.

Eventually you just get used to the Joker's redesign. The old one is way better but this one, aside from the eyes, is harmless. The Joker that came after this, which almost fused this design and the original looks really cool.
Just don't wuss out on talking about the redesign here. Tell us why it's like this. Maybe there was some good reason to make him look so controversial. Or at least some well intended motivation behind the design choice.

The reason why Batman and The Joker are such a good match is because they're both absolutely insane. Difference is, Batman's ordered insanity, and Joker's disordered insanity. Despite the fact that there are many other popular antagonists in the Batman franchise such as Two-Face, The Riddler, Harley-Quinn, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow, etc. Batman is nothing without The Joker. The Joker is perhaps the most widely recognized Villain not only in Batman comics, but practically in all comics.
Wouldn't it be interesting if Christopher Nolan had produced an animated form of The Dark Knight including Heath Ledger's perception of "The Homicidal Maniac".

That's the thing that's so great about TAS Joker, he's perfectly balanced as both a sinister being and a comical entity. The fact he can make people laugh as he murders or plots some other crimes just makes him even more disturbing and likable. Unlike Jack Nicolis who was evil, but not as funny, and you could hate... Mark Just did a brilliant job in doing to fantastic aspects of the character and still come away wanting to see more. The Old Adam West Joker was funny but harmless, not as good.

If you really anaylze the relationship between Batman and The Joker, they're really the same with what they do. Batman's psychotic in the positive sense, because he's using his fear to inflict apprehension into his enemies in the configuration of a nightmarish Bat to establish true justice. While The Joker's utilizing his own insanity to inflict grief, anguish, and chaos into others from what he perceives to be "True Justice" or Anarchism. Essentially, they're both a paradox upon the other.

The characters Batman Comics are awesome: The Joker, Two-Face, Ra's al Ghul, are complex characters and very interesting and very different issues: The Joker represents the chaos, Two Face the subverted justice, etc ... The quality of the villains determines the quality of the hero and Batman is definitely great, because behind of all that darkness, lies the great humanity that he has.

They're really two (extreme) takes on that classic question, "How should we live?"
Should we live like Batman, grim but resolute, orderly but sometimes unhappy, keeping by our convictions even if it might mean a worse end, to not kill because it's wrong even though not killing his villains will likely lead to more killing?
Or should we live like the Joker, happy but maniacal, wild but out of control, to please and reinvent ourselves as we wish- even if it means letting the world burn?

I mean The Joker has been around since the 1940s when he first appeared in Detective Comics. Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's 1980s comic 'The Killing Joke' is probably the best interpretation of the character, but certainly isn't the first. The Joker was campy through th3 50s and 60s then the 79s he went back to a darker side and then The Killing Joke finished his transformation into what he is today (Alongside the comic 'Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth)

I just love that you would never guess it's the same guy who played Luke Skywalker. Some people don't believe it.

@mutalord That's actually an on going thing in the comics, they love to put him in things that should've killed him, then he somehow survives.

I have to agree with you. Not just his look but his personality and motives are a bit off. This Joker was way too easy for Batman to make angry and he even got scared on several occasions, when part of Jokers insanity is that he can't get scared or intimidated. I also remember an episode where he became extremely happy to recieve a lot of money... His thought process is suppose to be better than just "get rich", he's not just some two-bit mob boss after all, he's -the Joker-!!

My sister really liked this design of the Joker. She thought that the reversed eye colors added to his inhumanity. My personally, I don't mind it but I still prefer the first design. That's not to say I hate his design here.

IMHO I think Hamil's Joker IS the Joker as he is meant to be - funny, scary, pyschotic, egotistic with flourish and flair.
Nicholson's Joker was great but let's face it, it was Jack all the way in Joker makeup.
Heath's Joker was also great - very dark, scary, and psychotic but without the humor

How can people not like the reverso eyes? They’re so freaking creepy!

It's based on the Brave and the Bold comic, which I haven't read. However, Superman, Wonder Woman, and all the Superfriends characters except for Flash has been confirmed. Well, Green Lantern corps is in. At least, that's what Wikipedia says, even if Wiki isn't very reliable.
It is mainly Batman and Robin. I'm guessing, every episode will have Batman and Robin teamed up with another hero. Not just a pair of heroes together.
About Superfriends, the Batman's color will remind you of 60's Batman.

Why does everyone hate this DESIGN. Its creative and different and the best Joker design in my opinion sure the others are great. But why the hell not use him in new batman adventures? He was great I was VERY upset when they changed his design, But this design is still being used. I saw a kids comic book in 2012 and they used THIS design. Don't really see any ROTJ designs anywhere I can understand the Red lips thing, Still a great design though.

Agreed. The show was considerably watered down when WB passed the show onto the Superman team.

i like how even though the cartoon series itself couldn't have joker 100% "KILL" people but in the movies based of the cartoon he could.

no, actually that really was an episode from TNBA it's called "Legends of he Dark Knight" but, they used another actor to specially do the voice of the 50's Joker. If you can see or download that episode complete (with the intro and outro),in the final credits appears the name of the actor that did the voice of th 50s joker in that episode.

I'm not sure about any specific cartoon that is from, but I know they used that in one of the last few episodes of The New Adventures of Batman. Legends of the Dark Knight is the name of that episode. It also has an animated sequence from Dark Knight Returns, so it's a must-see.

Yeah, they reused the Joker's animated character design from the flashback scenes of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker for his look in Justice League. Only they added in the purple gloves instead of the white gloves.
