Shug, I can't tell you how happy I am that you're getting into bass. Started playing bass when I was 16 and now I'm 53 and still playing out professionally, and have no plans of slowing down. Keep it up amigo!
That is a good long while. My 4.5 months at it feels puny but I got the rest of my days to go at it. It is filling my retirement days with fun and groove.
Sweet bass. It's got some crunchy tones. Makes me miss my Maple neck Music Man Guitar. Another cool bonus to Maple necks is they wear in with the oils from your hand so over time you get some patina on the fret board. I like it.
That thing sounds amazing dude. I love watching you're videos becuase you are into everything I do lol. Control line, hammocks and guitars! Keep on making awesome content bro!
Reminds me a little of my fathers 1971 Rickenbacher Mapleglo bass guitar. Heavy as heck, but boy howdy does it sound great. I left it to me when he passed away, but I'm not a guitar player (I'm a percussionist)
It's always a joy seeing someone share their passion and you can just tell how much joy it's giving you! Great work fella, looking forward to seeing this develop. Thank you for your hard work and sharing all the things you're passionate about.
I started playing bass 35 years ago. Played horn before that but had braces removed my senior year and lost my chops, so I traded my horn for a bass. I had a few experiments that passed as a bass in the beginning because I was a lefty on guitar, they're hard to find nowadays, let alone back then. When I finally got a full-fledged, left-handed instrument, it was a Hondo P-Bass. We had a band that never got out of the storage unit and life took over. I am 6 years, post-treatment, kicking the big C to the curb and we decided to spend more time and energy on music. I went through all the options, Jazz bass, Warwick, P-Bass and finally settled on my new number 1, Dingwall NG3 in Laguna Seca Blue. I'll never play another 5er. I've been blessed to play in a couple of bands since and even attended a Rock Camp. I love that you're adding this to your already amazing library of informational content. Guys like you, Lobster, Bass Channel, Ivan, etc have helped so many people just starting out and even those coming back to their craft after a long hiatus. I mean, my wife knows Tuesday is now Bass Tone Tuesday thanks to Ivan 😂 I have a couple of G&Ls in my watch list on Reverb because I think I still have GAS for one more bass (who am I kidding, I have a problem 😎). Keep on keeping on, because once you stop you fade away and that's no good for anyone. Bought any pedals yet?😉
Wow! Those Dingwall's are sweet. I've watched many a video on them. Someday I'll need to feel that fret layout. Did you get the 6 string? That is an amazing color too. The only other bass I tend to visit on the Sweetwater site is the Reverend Mercalli.....www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Merc4GM--reverend-mercalli-4-bass-gunmetal That one has my eyes and ears perked up. Well, my mandolin is in the case for now. It won't fade. Will always be there. I may get rusty on it but know I'll pick it up again but right now my time is dedicated to the bass and trying to push my learning curve. Plus I just find it very fun and satisfying at the end of the day. My only pedal is a Whitey Tighten compression pedal. I'm just after clean sound right now but have only been at bass since Dec. 5, 2022. I imagine in time pedals will call me..... I really like watching Low-end Lobster. I've watched Ivan too. He is good and to the point. I'm taking my online course taught byMark on talking bass.net. Doing the Groove Trainer Cours. Opening up my eyes to a lot of things I overlooked in the past. Also find various tutorials on You Tube and go at them. Ariane Cap is a great teacher too. I'll be studying her book in more depth when I complete my Groove course.
@@shugemery I did get a 6er, about 20 years ago. Korean make by Bryce, sold on Rondomusic, the home of the inexpensive bass. I found the neck a bit wide for my little nubs. 5 seems to be a sweet spot for me, though I have toyed with the notion of going E-C in the strings, I never found much use for that C as we're entering friendly guitar airspace at that point. I do know that I'll never buy another 5er without fan frets, that equal tension across every string like a harp is nice. I tend to roll with Scott Divine and his new pal Ian Martin Allison. I like Mark, he's very thorough. I also have a trumpet in my closet for special occasions. Enjoy what's left of the weekend...
@@shannonmcmackin4665 I just can't wrap my noggin' around how those fan frets feels. Someday maybe I'll see on I can demo and know what it is to know~~
Bro!! This bass is absolutely fire!! The Minimalist / Glossy look is killer! And there is not one, no not 1 bad tone on this bass guitar! I'm getting one in this piece in this finish thanks for the cool and informative video bro !! Rock On!!
It truly is and I'm still getting to know it. Folks seemed to like it about the best on my recent BassDemo video. The L-1000 is the last one at end of video. ua-cam.com/video/C_GkxAquItc/v-deo.html
G&L is one of the few companies that sells literally every component for their guitars in their online store, up to and including bridges, bodies, full electronic sets, and necks... The Tribute Series is made by Cor-Tek so I don't buy G&L products, but that's something people can look into for themselves - great looking bass, though, and you already know it's gonna sound great. Learn how to use the OMG feature - it's a passive boost, which is uncommon but not unheard of in guitars and basses (some call it a cut or dark circuit but IIRC the OMG ckt actually makes it hotter somehow).
I'm just as excited shug! THIS IS NOW A BASS CHANNEL! Throw some flats on that p-bass and see how you dig it. Won't work for slapping but sounds great with the funky mowtown grooves. That and a mute (piece of foam shoved under the strings near the bridge) and you'll be groovin.
I tried some flats on my P bass and Stingray. I just did not take to them but may give them another shot in 6 months or so. I do like slapping. Could be why.
I wanted at those tone options originally but decided I need to spend more time on the strings and practicing. So far I end up using parallel the most. OMG is fun though. 3 way toggle is doable for me.
I love your enthusiasm. Absolutely gorgeous bass. I own 6 tribute basses, but have never played an american G&L, so I can only imagine what they're like. Anyway great video. Hearing you play Get The Funk Out My Face was the icing on the cake.
Thankee Lincoln. 6 basses!!!...you go man~ I'm new to G&L but play that L-1000 everyday. My Stirling Stingray is a third stringer now. My Fender P-bass is a tight second but the G&L is the one I grab almost always now.
Thankee. I love playing it. Just put it down. Working on Berry Oakley's bass line with the Allman Brothers of "Stormy Monday." Even has some walking bass in it on Greg's swingy organ part. The cut from Live at Fillmore East.
As a bass player off and on for 30+ years, I share your enthusiasm for this bass. Man, it sounds good. I'm also a Fender guy. I have a vintage Jazz, fretless Jazz and Precision Special without the active electronics. Last year, I bought a Spector. Although I'm not a huge fan of active basses, the Spector has some killer tones. I would like to personally thank you (and my sales rep at Sweetwater would like to thank you too) for helping me decide what my next purchase will be. Woo buddy!
I like it more and more. Played a lot today. Getting me through my retirement. Those Specrors look groovy. I do like the old school look of the G&L. But I'm old...school. Kenny is my guy eat Sweetwater. Called me today to see if I liked the G&L. Love that.
@@shugemery Have you tried tenkara fishing? I think you'd dig it. If this channel was hammocks, bass and tenkara fishing it'd be like my personal channel.
@@shugemery I wasn't either, but the tenkara rod is 3oz, ideal for backpacking, and super simple and I got hooked. couldn't see myself "normal fishing"
@@BobCorsaro I did attempt some fishing on my 7 day BWCA trip this past Summer. I liked it from shore the most. It killed an hour. Was fun trying to cast near a lilly pad. Never caught a fish.
I had a good time being that excited. Only a good cake or pie gets me that kind of excited! I'm still excited to get up and get at that bass. It really is a beaut~
Its always great to start into a new hobby, especially when we get older. You have to keep growing or you stagnate! What a beautiful base those minor defects for 208 off too is a steal!
I am really enjoying the bass journey and it relaxes me. Just something cool to study and practice into my retirement years. I play it daily...unless I'm on a trip to the woods.
@@shugemery I know it’s not a Music Man, but the swamp ash just reminds me of Bernard Edwards’ bass. Certainly a quality bass. Going to serve you for many years.
Nah, man, I totally feel your enthusiasm. I REALLY want to try this bass. It was on my list when I was shopping in August, but I never came across one. Ended up with a MM v7 jazz to go along with my ‘83 Fender P bass Elite II.
Love, love, love, LOVE IT!! I think I may have been almost as excited as you were watching it come out. The swap ash (schwamp ash) is beautiful, and I think the little "defects" are worth it. It almost takes the pressure off to keep it pristine. I think I mentioned on your other vid where you played this at the end, my friend from a short-lived band we played in had a an L-1000, and I just absolutely loved the sound of it. Such a unique personality. My guitar journey took me down the Fender path also. I've played many others, but Fender is my thing. My Telecaster has a maple neck too, and I kind of prefer it over the rosewood. Different feel, different tone, different vibe. Just YES all around on this.
Leo Fender's stuff draws me too. I like the G&L for the classic old school style as it is a re-issue. Liking it more and more daily. Played most of the day today. Taking the Groove Training Workshop from TalingBass.net and truly helpful. I now think the maple neck may be my preference. Thankee for the Yes's
I totally understand your excitement on receiving a new instrument. I too am a guitar player and always feel the same extitement. I have a couple basses but generally play 6 and 12 stringers. Being a lefty I could never find a guitar worth anything for many years. (Started playing in 1964) But in the last dozen years more lefties have been available so I upped my fleet to around 25 instruments. Yep, I got GAS (guitar aquisation syndrome) And about 40 amps. (Gear aquisation syndrome) Seems difficult to turn down trying something new. I am happy for your excitement and enjoy watching you share it with us. Yep, still big into hammocks too but this is fun for you and many of us are enjoying it too.
Nice. I don't feel so bad about my measly 3 basses...haaa. I think I may have found my bass. Liking it more and more daily. Hammocks don't bring me the same kind of excitement but again, they serve a different purpose. This bass is fun to play. And to just look at. Thankee. Enjoy your guitar harem!
@@shugemery Hahaha... 3 is just a start... You have all the earmarks of a developing case of GAS my friend... Give into it and enjoy them all... I know that I do.
Hello!! I had a 1000 that I got back in 1982! GREAT INSTRUMENT!! What Im noticing are the Controlling stunt planes!? I used to fly Controline! Too crippled up from Arhheratis in my knees and now my back and shoulders! Enjoy what you can! You will love the bass! For years I played P basses (62 and 65) but the G&L just cuts through what the others won't
Oh, I am really liking the L-1000. Have played it everyday since getting it!! Hoping we get to start flying some control line next week. Love it....ua-cam.com/play/PLahaAdtfX9ZIJYRxo9TS1hNmtMKSvezQn.html
You are the best Shug!!! I only watch for the enthusiasm, and boy howdy, you always deliver the goods! Congrats on the new bass; G&L are the some of the best instruments! If you want the goods out of it, try out flat wound strings. It really sped up my bass action.
Thankee. I am liking it more and more daily. Getting me through my retirement. I tried some flats on my P-bass. I did not take to them. Maybe I'll try again down the road once I am more seasoned. I slap a lot. Thankee
I love your enthusiasm . No matter what it is your go after it wholly. When did you say you started playing bass? Check the description for a misprint lol
Glad to see you so excited.. I know how that feels when it comes to musical instruments. I had a G&L asat Telecaster when G&L first became a big thing in the 90s.. great guitar. My current bass is a 1977 Fender Musicmaster… Great looking bass there Shug!! Congratulations!! PS: cool seeing my old hats hanging in the back ground.. 😉
That was you sent that derby!! I'll wear on on a bass video!! Glad to hear you have G&L experience. I had never heard of them and now I am hip. So you have a Musicmaster short scale? I have one here...the one my Brother-in -law loaned me to start this whole thing. Short scales are having a big resurgence in the bass world.
@@shugemery I’ve had More stringed instrument experiences than should’ve been allowed. I’ve Owned “a lot”. Still have quite a few. My original 63 Musicmaster six string (long story) love to tell you about it.. maybe one day…I’d say I’m not a crazy person but that would be a lie and exactly what a crazy person would say😵💫🥸🤪😂. Been in bands most of my life, was a drummer, guitarist, singer, played bass when necessary… Yes, the Derby and the poor old top hat. They couldn’t have gone to a better man. My Musicmaster bass was a rescue from an attic apartment. Took it all apart, cleaned it up, put some nice flat wounds on it and use it on all my recordings. Simple (heavier than two P-basses put together😵) sounds great though. It’s great getting to talk with you again, maybe one day we can have a nice musical instrument/camping conversation. I also have a “Givens” mandolin, that’s right not a Gibson, a Givens… a somewhat sought after instrument from what I’ve seen but I don’t know a lot about it. Anyway, again great talking with you Shug! Thanks again, Willie
P-Bass for the win!!..haha. I found your channel several years ago looking for Control Line planes. Then found out you like hammock camping. Me too!!. Saw you played Bluegrass. So did my dad. Now you are in to Bass Guitar..again like me!!. Wow. We are the same person...almost. Keep going Brother. Love it.
It is morphing. Hoping never to have more than 3 basses. Maybe even two. But right now I'm finding whatI am drawn too. Ohh...that Reverend Mercalli bass. Stop Shug, stop!!!!
I know nothing about guitars but that looked and sounded amazing. I loved your excitement! I'm thinking the part of you opening the first box was real time too!
Beautiful bass Shug!! Sounds awesome! I haven't seen many instruments yet that didn't have a few nicks on the headstock. My new Fender already has a couple. As hard as you might try you'll eventually hit a low ceiling while taking it off.
It's like anything in life that we see we want to try and do. I saw this guy make bull whips and I thought damn out of paracord and I thought you know what I'm going to try that and I made 10 whips. And out of them I made four turkhead knots whips as well. I believe me my fingers were tired when I got done with that outing of adventure and I won't go there again because I need my fingers to play my guitar. But it was an adventure like anything you try. How you can play a mandolin so well amazes me. I've tried it and it hurts my fingertips so bad I can't do it. But guitar yeah no problem. Keep putting these videos out. Shug because it cheers me up every time I watch one of them. They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but that's not necessarily true at all. An old dog can be taught new tricks, It just takes a little while longer. That's all.😅
I know several people that always say to me that they are to old to learn some new skill. Sure it may take some time to dedicate to it but where we put our time is our choice. As an ex-drinker I have some time to fill! I've got some good calluses on my bass fingers now. They even hurt sometime but that will pass. Mainly when I first pick the bass up to play in the morn. Yes, mandolins are wound pretty tightly...kinda like me...haaa. I do realize when you take up something new as you are you may not become a master of it but can get fairly proficient. Thankee Rebecca.
@@shugemery my main setup was a ‘78 P Bass with maple neck and scraped off paint body, then the ash waxed. Wasn’t much to look at but she’d keep up her end in a trio. Heavy as boat anchor.
Well i am super excited for you. I kinda know how you're feeling. I've been looking hard at a new guitar myself. I am torn between the Taylor GS mini Mahogany and the Taylor GTe Mahogany. both are smaller scale guitars and from a California company. They play beautifully but the GTe is a $1000 more. Rock on Shug!
Nice quandary to have! I was looking at a less expensive G&L bass but in my heart it was not truly the one I wanted. Thought down the road I wish I had just spent the money. Glad I got the one I truly wanted and spend a fair deal more. Heck I spend so much on insurance, taxes and all. Instruments ar a good investment. Mull it...then go with your gut.
I know how you feel I recently had a new guitar day myself. A sparkly baritone which has such a long scale length that many consider it a six string bass. Congrats Shug!
What a beautiful bass Shug. And I totally understand your excitement lol, I'm expecting a EVH Wolfgang guitar in the mail tomorrow from Sweetwater. Sounding fantastic btw!
Wow...looked the guitar up. What a beaut. Not cheap either. Quality. What drew you to that brand? Maybe the same I had with G&L. Sweetwater guy Kenny called me today to check in and see if I am happy. Love that.
@@shugemery all the EVH guitars are great in my opinion. They sound great and they just play so comfortably. Balanced well and play like a short scale guitar but it isn’t. Plus Eddie Van Halen put a lot years of experience and research into them. I figure he knows more then me lol.
@@shugemery Is that a good thing?? LOL! She is a real beauty buddy!!! I am a Fender man, but just purchased an Epiphone Les Paul that is blowing my mind!!!!
Shug, out of all the Bass guitars you have played, is the G&L your favorite? The music in this video is fantastic. Mind if I ask, what model Fender Amp do you use? Thanks.
It is. I go through all my basses and think I prefer one over another but been playing the L-1000 a whole lot this week working on "What is Hip" by Tower of Power. This bass is truly nice. The amp is a Fender Rumble 100.

I want one of those Ampegs someday. They get good reviews. '79 Rick. Too cool. That was great year. Year I went to Ringling Brothers Clown College. Waiting for our flying field to dry out and winter just won't seem to leave here.
I had a great G&L American Strat, but hard times had me sell it. I have four or six guitars being neglected right now. Maybe I'll strum a little tonight. I love a great bass-line and have played them some as well. Love that 6-bolt neck. I never played a Precision, but mostly a Peavey T-40 back in their day. I do prefer a rosewood fretboard, but it's about feel and appearance to me. Thump on Thumper! You're gonna love the G&L and it'll be interesting to hear what you think of it after a month or two of familiarization. Silly me got back into golf and it's dominating my free times now. Swamp Ash!!! LOL Sounds like a hot weather instrument. 😉 I used to play the trombone in high school - kinda wish I stuck with it. Now I 'have fun' with jaw harps and a xaphoon (think recorder with a reed that sounds a little like a sax) I say 'have fun' because I don't practice enough to consider it playing. Sometimes I will bring the jaw harp on my trips because I know that sound doesn't carry very far. Plus jaw harps are a lot smaller than a xaphoon/recorder.
Too funny!! When I hike in heat I done get me some swamp ash~~~ I used to play trombone.....but I let it slide. Old circus joke. Maybe you need to add a nose flute to your groove.
The wunkay is an amazing instrument. Rumor has it that if all wunkay owners turn on omg mode and play a low E at the same time it’ll open a black hole in the center of the earth.

I enjoyed your joy, happiness and excitement! It was a great way to start my day. lol Looking forward to hearing some more! Thanks for sharing! :) :)
Awww...thanks for that. I'm still excited to get up and get at that bass. It just feels so good and fills some hours in my day now that I am retired~
The only other bass I tend to visit on the Sweetwater site is the Reverend Mercalli.....www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Merc4GM--reverend-mercalli-4-bass-gunmetal
That one has my eyes and ears perked up.
Someday maybe I'll see on I can demo and know what it is to know~~
Good choice Shug!
I think found my bass!~
Top notch score!
I like it more and more every day.
Congrats!! I'm 67, started playing a few years ago. I love it so much! I hope you post about your playing journey. I'd like to follow along. Enjoy!
Seems a lot of folks get into bass late in life. A worthy endeavor. I will be post in gym progress from time to time. Thankee
I got the American made version not the Tribute...paid a bit more. Made in Fullerton, California. Leo Fender's last shop.
Playing it right now.
I felt the same way when I got my G&L CLF L--2000. Absolutely no regrets. My L-2000 is probably my favorite bass. Thanks for the tour.
I have absolutely no buyers remorse. I looked at the L-2000 a lot but decided on the simplicity of the L-1000 at this point in my bass quest.
@shugemery In hindsight, I kinda wish I had got the L-1000. The 2000 is a tad "busy" with all the switches, but it sounds so awesome when dialed in.
SWAMP ASH! Shug, your joy is infectious! Hope you're enjoying the heck out of that bass.
Thankee. I love playing it. Just put it down. Working on Berry Oakley's bass line with the Allman Brothers of "Stormy Monday." Even has some walking bass in it on Greg's swingy organ part. The cut from Live at Fillmore East.
@@shugemery that's great! Looking forward to having more of your bass playing in your videos regardless of subject.
@@BobCorsaro I have not. Not really much of a fisherman. But I do ride unicycles!....haaa
@@shugemery I wasn't either, but the tenkara rod is 3oz, ideal for backpacking, and super simple and I got hooked. couldn't see myself "normal fishing"

Feel like a kid with a new bike, walkie talkies and a Super Helmet 7~~
I had a great time watching your excitement. The bass is beautiful.
I had a good time being that excited. Only a good cake or pie gets me that kind of excited! I'm still excited to get up and get at that bass. It really is a beaut~
I love this video! We’re here for the gear too! Music gear is some of the most exciting gear at that.
It is. Music has a bit more range than hammocks. Thankee.
Stunning looking bass.
For me, G&L are Leo’s finest work.
Looks like one of these instruments that inspires you to play.
I sit and stare at it when not playing it. It just "feels good."

The Sire stuff is really really nice....especially the V7. 1983 P-Bass must be a gem~~
G&L flies below the radar in stealth mode.
Hi Shug! I caught myself sporting a stupid happy grin as I witnessed your excitement. She be lovely!
Thankee Terry! Makes me proud.

You will love the bass! For years I played P basses (62 and 65) but the G&L just cuts through what the others won't

Thankee
Great score there, Shug. I love my G&Ls. Awesome sound control.
I even have a G&L tee shirt coming. Yes, they are really nice and I'm liking it more and more everyday.
I love your enthusiasm . No matter what it is your go after it wholly. When did you say you started playing bass? Check the description for a misprint lol

The look, right?
Glad to see you so excited.. I know how that feels when it comes to musical instruments.

My original 63 Musicmaster six string (long story) love to tell you about it.. maybe one day…I’d say I’m not a crazy person but that would be a lie and exactly what a crazy person would say😵💫🥸🤪😂.
Been in bands most of my life, was a drummer, guitarist, singer, played bass when necessary…
Yes, the Derby and the poor old top hat.

Beautiful bass Shug!! Sounds awesome! I haven't seen many instruments yet that didn't have a few nicks on the headstock. My new Fender already has a couple. As hard as you might try you'll eventually hit a low ceiling while taking it off.
If a bass or guitar is too pretty....they ain't playing it enough!
Now that is a might nice basst there!!!!

Dude, when you get into something, you go deep! Nice bass! My P-bass is also swamp ash. I love natural finishes.
I kinda do. Or not at all. That includes napping. Swamp ash seems really nice.

@@shugemery LOL, I've seen nose flutes (traditional and mini plastic ones) and have been tempted with the inexpensive plastic ones.
They are OK for factory produced instrument, the bridge is one of my favorite designs.
A boutique custom built instrument was not on my radar or in my price range. I too like the bridge and am enjoying the bass daily.
Waiting for the Shug bass guitar adapter kit, to attach it to your backpack 😳
I plan to ride it like the Nimbus 2000!
Harry Potter reference....
Thanks. Slap Happy is a real thing after all. Enjoy.
Slap Happy sure is!
The wunkay is an amazing instrument. Rumor has it that if all wunkay owners turn on omg mode and play a low E at the same time it’ll open a black hole in the center of the earth.
Great comment~~ I love having that funky in my hands.
Nothing like getting a new axe in the mail!
A big long box is always the most exciting stuff~~
Purdy, Bass. I must have the same bug you caught. I just picked up a cigar box guitar.
I, too, love being excited about something. 😂
Play on, brother Shug!
It is a good and positive bug. Only brings joy. Not sorrow.
@@shugemery indeed.
Shug is now the guitar king. 🏆 My neighbor builds and sells guitars. They are not cheap and he sells a lot of them to professional musicians. Neville Guitars
I'm never a king....usually a Lord or Duke. But mostly a jester.
The Fender case for my P-Bass is almost as beautiful as the guitar herself.
Those rectangle cases are class. Wish they still made the tweed ones.
@@shugemery I though you could still find tweed. Maybe just the Strat and Tele cases now. Off brand I guess..
Love the enthusiasm, Shug going hog wild for a new passion. Channel some Phil Lynott.
I go all in. Or not at all.
@@shugemery I'm the same way.
Ha, those dings are nothing. You should've seen my L2000 a week after I got it. I taped off all the hardware/electronics and took a belt sander to the body to contour it better for playing out. Then I always dig a thumb spot in right at the top front corner of the pick up so my thumb doesn't slip on shiny laquer. I never made much money selling mine in the used market 😂
Dig a thumbhole! That is hardcore Punk man! You been at it a while I know. Love it.
I hope that crack doesn’t go into the bolt-holes under the neck joint. I’d have that checked
It is just a tiny finish crack Not really in the wood but I'll keep an eye on it.
@@shugemery I have had a few acoustics over the years that developed cracks at the glue joint's but didn't really cause any more than an eye-sore. It's different with a Bolt-on neck joint. Thats one reason I don't like them. If they start vibrating more than usual or start coming lose I'd talk with you Sales-Engineer. Sweetwater is really good with costumer service.
Experimented with strings yet? Gauges? Brands? Roto Sounds are nice.
Oh yes. I'm all in. Brands too. So much to futz with. Tried some flat wounds but just did not really like the feel. Maybe i'll try agin in 6 months or so.
@@shugemery I tried flat wounds once too a long time ago. Those are for the like "Mellow Fellow". Not my style. Try a 40 - 95 set on one bass and a 45 - 105 on another and see how you hear and feel the difference. Your fingers should be in spec by now.
@@yobentley7274 I'm on the 45-100 to 45-105 camp right now. Nickel.
@@shugemery I have been doing Roto Sound 45 - 105 nickel as a standard for a while. Vey good overall feel and sound. Earnie Ball's are fine too.
@@shugemery Watch that any fabric or string wrapping on the ends does not lap on the bridge saddles or nut slots. Trim it off if it does.
Finally after the third time you said it, I realized you were saying swamp ASH! 😂
Too funny!
Best regards Martin from Denmark
Musikkens rejse bidrager kun til vores liv og gør dem rigere. Nyd din Strat~!
OH Shug - you are hooked!!!
It did get a hold of me. It did.
Sorry your bass was late, but honestly with fed ex you have to expect that. I've ordered 7 guitars(From sweetwater) from them over the last 8 months and everything came in late. It's all good, they always arrive in one piece. I have 4 Edwards (ESP sub brand Japan only) guitars that was Swamp Ash and I love them, the weight is perfect for me. I hate when they do weight relief in guitars, I like them to be a bit heavy. Love the Bass, G&L makes some really nice stuff.
Only one day late. Builds the anticipation. But like you say...in good shape. Swamp ash is sweet!
Jimmy Garrison, Charles Mingus, Lemmy, Les Claypool and Shug. Okay....you probably have a bit to go, but still. I sleep in a tent and play guitar, but just really enjoy your videos. Man, UA-cam is a weird thing.
Les~! I am inspired by Louis Johnson, Victor Wooten, Mark King, Pino Palladino, Larry Graham, and countless others. Thanks for the good and fine words. I'm just happy to be playing out my retirement.
