Been following you for many years, and just want to say I appreciate the getting older thing, as I am now almost 71. I wanted to compliment you, as a fellow musician, how much I appreciate your musical endeavors, especially your new love, the bass guitar. My question that I wanted to ask is about hammocking and lower back pain. Does it help hanging or not?
I think it may depend on the condition of ones back. I'n most cases I've heard of it can help but have also heard of a couple people saying it did not. Only way to know it to give it a go. Get a cheap hammock on amazon or the likes and I hope it does help you. Thanks on the bass quest. I truly enjoy learning it and pushing myself on it. I'm a year and 7 months in now. Whoooooo Buddy))))
Love Shug Checking-In videos! I'd have even watched you replacing the cinder blocks. Not sure if it's because you're that entertaining or because I keep my life boring.
Be careful with yourself. Im doing all the"right things" aged 67. Hard exercise and eat right. Two months ago i went over the handlebars of a bike and broke my. Left wrist and right shoulder. Now I can't exercise. One thing I'm glad I avoided... Surgery. I refused plate and screw surgery.
Shug, I’m sure you get this comment often but have you ever tried hiking in trail runners like Altra’s or Hokas? Not sure if you’ve ever addressed that before, but I have not worn hiking boots (other than winter trips) in 10 years.
In the Name Of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful. Get Well soon Shug! Heal in days rather than months by mixing 1tea spoon on baking soda (not baking powder)in a glass of water and drink it once daily until symptoms go away, capsulitis and gout are similar and are caused by inflamation inside the joints and outwards, some experience burning, stinging, and throbbing sensations. The lucky ones only feel like theres a small peble in the shoe. What baking soda does it helps to cool down that area and helps our spleen to produce more (our bodies naturaly produces bicarbonate soda) The main culprit is that we tend to eat acidic foods (meat, sodas, processed foods and gmo) and over time it makes our bodies loose the fine balance between acid and base, baking soda is on the base side of chemistry and helps to equalize back to natural levels. God as my witness this is a cure by the grace of our creator. Best of wishes!
You and I are so much alike we could be brothers. Same almost everything. I first saw your control line vids years ago. I used to do that. Then hammock camping. I do that. Then Bluegrass music. I do that. Then bass playing. I do that. Now some DYI home improvement. I do that. What next? Do you like to watch Jeopardy? Baseball? Strum Guitar on the front porch?
It's good to hear someone else who avoids the idea of hiring things done I can always do for myself, but at nearly 65 I too wonder when that time comes....that I might not be able to. Dreadful thought. Enjoy your vlogs. Come back to NC for some BBQ soon, or cook some on video yourself!

@@BentbrooksRambles That trip to Ayden is long but that is some top shelf BBQ. I'm no master but just watched my Dad and them cook pig. Slow and low is key.
@@shugemery Noted, sir. Thank ya! And yes, Ayden is worth it. I’d have stealth camped along the highway had I fully understood the delight I’d enjoy there.
@@BentbrooksRambles Did you try their banana pudding? So good.
A man's gotta know his limitations!😀

What do you use to light your torches and do you swallow some of it when extanguishing them?
White gas. Specifically Coleman Lantern fuel. Naphtha based. I never swallow any as I am always very very lightly exhaling.

Daily life is within a mile of home, why drive when walking gets it done.
Even my greenie crowd friends wonder why I walk . . .
Lil Lady does the driving when needed . . . ;>)
Nice...like walking to school~~~
Shug, couple a things.
Tomato sandwiches with pillowy, soft potato bread, and miracle whip… nothing short of amazing.
“Darwin on the trail” says he’s coming for a hike on the superior hiking trail this fall. Says he’s got a friend that wants to introduce him to hammock camping. That wouldn’t be you would it?
Thanks for checking in, good to see you again.
Dukes mayo for me on 'em. Memories! Not me taking Darwin. May be Danny from Superior Gear Hammocks. Whoooooo Buddy))))
So lovely! Thank you & cheers mate!
Was that a dark-roast on the torches there? Looked a little over extracted!
Whooooo budddyyy))))))
I like my torches to taste a might loud and silty.....

Thanks for the show Shug!
Your place is beautiful, all that hard work and love really shows 😍
We love you Shug and are grateful for all the great entertainment, fun, treks and wisdom you've shared with us over the years. 🥰
(You inspired this old lady to get into hammocking, love it, grateful you so kindly share your knowledge with us)
Enjoy your summer, be good you young'un, don't get into too much mischief (at least don't get caught), and remember to let us old folks know you're safe and happy ☺️
...but we do selfishly wish you take us along once in a while as you do chores or hang out at the mercantile ☺️
I am bowing here.....
🥰
I wish you were my neighbor!
Maybe I am)))))
You could walk to the mailbox and I watch that.
I've been working on that video for months. Tried a shuffle, a mosey, a stride, a sashay, a saunter and a stroll.
Southerner here. Hearing "Im not gonna backpack in July, and instead do chores" feels oddly familiar.
My Dad gave me the chore gift. A blessing and a curse.
Love Shug Checking-In videos! I'd have even watched you replacing the cinder blocks. Not sure if it's because you're that entertaining or because I keep my life boring.
I dug into a bees nest and got darted several times. That would have been good video!!!!
Dang! Hope for you to heal up well and get back to to physical pursuits!!!!
Hoped you would find some Joe Dart on your bass journey Shug. Awesome.
Joe Dart is inevitable to want to learn.....except the head and neck movement. Haaaa.
Try Hoka. Amazing!
I got me some for regular walking. Real nice.
@@shugemery Great! They make hiking shoes too. Did Kilimanjaro and Grand Canyon Rim2Rim in Hoka hiking boots.
There you are
I was there. Now here. where next?

Too good~~~!!!!
Shug, I’m sure you get this comment often but have you ever tried hiking in trail runners like Altra’s or Hokas? Not sure if you’ve ever addressed that before, but I have not worn hiking boots (other than winter trips) in 10 years.
I used to use trail runners years ago. Then my feet changed and I need a stiff shank. Need that ankle support a boot provided.

Righto......thankee.
What baking soda does it helps to cool down that area and helps our spleen to produce more (our bodies naturaly produces bicarbonate soda)
The main culprit is that we tend to eat acidic foods (meat, sodas, processed foods and gmo) and over time it makes our bodies loose the fine balance between acid and base, baking soda is on the base side of chemistry and helps to equalize back to natural levels. God as my witness this is a cure by the grace of our creator.
Best of wishes!
Thankee for that. The toe is much improved.
You and I are so much alike we could be brothers. Same almost everything. I first saw your control line vids years ago. I used to do that. Then hammock camping. I do that. Then Bluegrass music. I do that. Then bass playing. I do that. Now some DYI home improvement. I do that. What next? Do you like to watch Jeopardy? Baseball? Strum Guitar on the front porch?
I do not watch Jeopardy regularly but always tried too. Not a big baseball fan. Rarely pick on the porch. There ya' go......
@@shugemery Forgot to mention we both love F1 racing. I was a huge fan in the 80's and 90's and on into the 00"s. You came on board several years ago.
