    Long term review on the Central Machinery tube notcher. In this video I show the best ways I've found to get the best performance from this inexpensive tool. I also do a quick review on Harbor Freight's Warrior hole saw kit.

    *Bought as a gift for my son and his second grade son to use on a Pinewood Derby car. Wanted something relatively safe and able to be packed away when not in use. Worked well. **MyBest.Tools** Easy to use and set up. Case provides good storage.*

    Clamp it in a heavy vice and use a big High speed drill. Works great

    Thank you for the video. What size holesaws do you use for frame building?

    • @JoeyMesa
      @JoeyMesa  4 роки тому

      The most common sizes are 1 1/2" for the down tube and seat tube to match the BB shell diameter (standard English threaded), 1 1/8" for the top tube to seat tube (1 3/16 for external butted seat tube), and 1 3/8" for the top tube/down tube to match head tube OD.
      It really depends on what type and size BB/head tube/seat tube you're going to use. I'm slowly collecting more sizes and better quality hole saws for the common sizes.

      @@JoeyMesa Thanks. That's very informative. I recently got an oxy-acetylene set up and want to get into frame building. I've made one threadless stem so far. It's good fun. Best of luck to you!

    I bought one with the understanding that it may need some minor mods to improve it but the one I got is totally unusable. The flats you chuck up on are not centered or straight, the cutter end wobbles with a 2mm off center wobble when chucked in my drill press. the shaft guide bearings are 0.6mm larger than the shaft so they do not guide the cutter. I made the mistake of buying this because it was on sale but didn't unbox it until months later - too late to return it.

      Yeah, it's definitely not the most precise tool out there, but if you're wanting to get into metal fabrication and you don't have a big budget, it's a worthwhile tool. I could see runout on everything when I initially set mine up. I never measured how much, I just got it centered and ran it. The end results I got were good. Good enough to build some bicycle frames that came out straight. A mill and good quality hole saws will get much more accurate results, but will cost much more $$$.
      Thanks for your feedback!

    What brand of hole saw have you been using? Could you please suggest a good brand of hole saw to cut 1-1/4 inch schedule 40 seamless pipe??

      When I purchased this tube notcher from Harbor Freight, I also picked up a warrior 3/4-2 1/2 bi-metal hole saw kit for $35. This was about 3 years ago, and those things held up pretty well. I actually used the 1-1/4 size to make 40-50 cuts on some schedule 40 pipe, and it held up pretty well. I've purchased a few different brands here and there, but the last hole saws I purchased were the Milwaukee bull dozer hole saws. They work well bang for the buck if you just need an individual size. The very best ones are probably the Starrett ones, but it just depends on how precise a cut you're looking to make and how often you plan on using it as well.

      @@JoeyMesa thank you Joey for sharing your experience in detail with different brands. I would need 2-3 individual sizes just to speed up my work. Thank you once again Joey.

    The band saw is the Chicago Electric brand that Harbor Freight sells. They changed the name to Bauer www.harborfreight.com/10-amp-deep-cut-variable-speed-band-saw-kit-63444.html
    You can pick them up for $99 every so often with a coupon. I've been really happy with mine. I did a review and built a stand which I made videos as well.
