GCSE French Speaking Tips! How to get from 4-5 to 9!

- The GCSE French speaking exam can go horribly wrong if you don't prepare, but how is someone meant to prepare for them? Well, today I go into more depth from my GCSE French video, to specifically the speaking exam and how you can practise for the different parts: role play, photo card and general conversation.

I remember in my mock I very confidently waffled about a completely different topic from the role play card and my teacher thought I got the wrong one 😂

I had my french speaking exam yesterday and it went really well, mostly in thanks to this video. I was stressing about preparing for it so much, but this made worlds of difference, donc merci beaucoup Nouman!!!!

watching this day before my speaking exam, im quite good at all other aspects and the speaking normally brings my grade down as i get very flustered, thank you for this i hope i can do well!!

@@NoumanSami so I did it. I did so much better than last time😄. I did really well on the conversation and photo card, but the roleplay was a little bit hard because it was on working at a cafe or something😂. I only said je ne sais pas twice for the role play card.

Hiya- firstly your video is soo helpful!
Secondly, my teacher has given us a French conversation booklet with all the questions in them. I was wondering if you needed to include all 3 tenses in a response to one question or will the different tenses be required throughout different questions?
You don’t need all three tenses for every question, but be sure to include all three throughout your general conversation. Your teacher will try and guide you through it by asking questions in different tenses to make you include all of them. I hope that answers your question, Rehya! And, thanks for your comment :)

I started the day before yesterday revising (don’t do that whoever is reading this) hence i blanked out a few times but overall my teacher thinks i got like a 7 (i got a 9 in my mock 💀)but Insha’Allah i do well in the rest so it balances out 🤞🏽

@@confirmingselection ahahaha ok so I mainly used the tips in the video, I looked at exemplar answers you can look them up and also just look in textbooks you’ve used in class or any reading exam papers. The texts have some really great phrases, so try to incorporate some in your speaking. Just like the video said, I also memorized a small section on key topics e.g vacations, health and fitness just in case I went blank and it also really helped. I wish you the best of luck! But also don’t stress too much over it :)

@@brownbiriyani I made sure I knew what every question in the general convo speaking booklet meant and made sure I knew what to say just incase. For photo card and roleplay, I used Nouman's advice

Hi, I found this really helpful, I have my French speaking final on the 26th of this month, so I was wondering if I were to be asked a question on a topic that I am weak at in the GC, should I answer with a simple short answer and hope that they change the topic??
Well I’d say that focus on this weak topics right now when revising and make sure you know exactly what to say, but in the real thing of course try and divert it to a stronger topic

I heard that in 2021 and 2022 they stopped giving instructions (the bullet points) in the roleplay, is that true??
They always give the bullet points and will continue doing so

@@NoumanSami managed to answer all the questions with more than two conjugated verbs, an opinion and a reason. But for one answer i wanted to say teach which is enseigner but i said empecher and i spoke in the past once when it was supossed to be future for a sec but corrected myself

as much as you can ideally, if you say too much your teacher will cut you off anyway

Do you have any tips for forming questions in the role play? Also, are there any ways you would recommend to improve spontaneity in the general conversation?
Oh that's a good question. I'd say try learn generic ways to ask questions and learn the different ways to ask a question and all those phrases you can use. The question can be very very basic though so i personally would say it should be a very small worry and more often than not you'll think of something. But I do recommend just going over past roleplays and seeing what they give as prompts and making sure you can form a question out of them. And in terms of spontaneity, which isn't that important in terms of generally what is marked, I recommend just practising loads. Ask as many people to ask you questions, whether it is your parents, siblings, friends, teachers, whoever. Or even put them on a wheel and spin it and just come up with an answer on the spot, the more and more you do that, the more spontaneous you will get :)

@@NoumanSami lol it’s went really well actually, I’m actually doing igcse’s so the content of the paper is a bit different, but the roleplay was extremely simple and so were the topic conversations. French has always been a strong subject but I was lowkey expecting an average grade for speaking as my school didn’t get it practiced much and all the others in my batch exempted the component, but I guess I’m gonna do really well except a few ums and ah’s lmao
Wow that’s great! I actually had quite a confusing roleplay for mine, where one of the things I had to describe was the difference between french and English restaurants :/
I remember saying that french people eat lots of baguettes whereas English people have lots of fish and chips..

@@NoumanSami oh god that was horrible, I've never had a mock so didn't know what to expect and I started laughing, I was laughing through the whole recording and I could barely elaborate on the general conversation, I forgot to ask her a question aswell so when I got reminded I used "tu"
