Your TEDx stance, along with the confident and radiant smile at only 6 seconds in had me double check the title. Seems like an absolute top tier girl. Lets hope we all find one like her, ey lads?
She just has infinite self confidence. Self confidence will basically make or break you as a person. If you have it then the world is your oyster. You'll be outgoing, have great people skills, will be willing to take risks, won't care about groups or certain friends, you'll probably be an extrovert which has infinite benefits too. If you don't have self confidence life becomes a whole lot harder. You'll likely have poor social skills which will be the result of social anxiety, if you have social anxiety very few people will want to be around you as it'll be them feel awkward, so you'll find it very hard to make friends, you won't have the confidence to pursue challenging things, you won't take risks, you'll very likely develop depression as a result of nobody wanting to be around you, you'll likely be bullied, you won't have the confidence to ask for anything you want like pay rises. A life without self confidence is hell, believe me. Unfortunately extroverts will thrive in society and introverts won't or will struggle to. The single most important thing in life is communication. If you have good communication every door in the world will open up, if you don't it's a dark, dark place and almost every door will close trapping you.
I used to rewatch this video in fear of my own speech but ended up getting a distinction too even though I wrote it the night before anda was shaking throughout the whole speech 🤣
It’s speeches like this that get Distinctions. According to my teachers, I presented challenging ideas. My speech was literally about why Percy pigs are the best sweet. I spoke for 3 minutes about Percy Pigs whilst my peers, who mostly achieved merits, spoke about climate change and whatnot. Just goes to show the content doesn’t matter, just the way its presented
Reminds me of my oral exam at university in spoken english. two days before the exam i didnt know what to talk about (we had free choice over topic. just talk 15 min and have a decent pronunciation) and then the night before I just decided to bring my make up bag and tell my male teacher about my morning make up routine. it was funny and rewarded with a superb grade.
We had a speech competition in one of my school and the winner was one about updog and I still remember the whole school reeling from how they didn't realize the pun
That is a very false conclusion. If you’re not addressing a group of idiots (which in itself would be pointless), but actually intelligent people they’ll very easily be able to see past whatever facade you’re putting up and judge your points and ideas clearly. In fact even if your presentation is lacking, as long as your points are good you can keep the audience listening. Of course it’s much more preferable that you’re confident in your words
@@arisanagno0024 Same. In my university debating club- we were told that speaking skill were important, but the substance of the points was what would get the W in debates. Irl, you need actual information and talking points.

I don’t think it is a school project. English GCSE requires you to make a speech on something in front of a whole class and it is made in year 10 (14-15 years old) so I think this may have been her GCSE
It’s incredibly easy to get a distinction in English Public Speaking, it’s entirely dependant on the mood the examiner is in but as they always know you personally they’re not likely going to be mean, over 3/4 of my class got a distinction.
I wanna know if someone asked you out after that presentation. I also wanna know if you still have the same confidence that you had in this video. You're so lovely I wish the best for you in life. I'm also 19 so same age, but still single lol.
And also, your confidence, whole generally classroom atmosphere and studying environment is unbelievably nice. In addition, your teacher is fun and with humour, love it

I know most people cringe when looking back on the stuff they did in high school, but this is something you should cherish. Nobody could get me to say nice things about myself if they threatened to pull each and every one of my teeth out with a pair of rusty pliers; yet you managed to do so in a way that not only made me nearly collapse a lung with laughter, you did it without making yourself seem like a toxic ass. Fortunes flow back and forth with the tide of the world, but a positive self-image is something which insulates against the worst of these. I hope that wherever you find yourself, you can look back on this with more pride than embarrassment; I know I would if I had anything of this caliber to my name. Good luck with wherever you find yourself, thank you for uploading this absolute gem, and may you face whatever life throws at you the same attitude you radiate here.
I saw this video a few weeks ago, just in time for my GCSE presentation. I was originally going to do my speech on my sport and the benefits surrounding it but after seeing this I decided that would be far too boring. I looked beside me and alas, I see my dog so I made my speech about her and why she'd be a far better PM than Boris, Lis and Rishi combined. I'm yet to hear my mark but my class seemed to love it so thank you Maria for sparking that inspiration to think outside the box and for giving me the confidence to use humour and to just be myself during my speech, you're a true lifesaver 🤧
Our speeches in my school were regulated, so we weren't allowed to do anything interesting. The options were literally; We shouldn't eat meat, we shouldn't have zoos and climate change is bad. There was an option that gave us a bit of freedom, and unsurprisingly most people picked that one. It was "I am concerned about..." and you'd talk about a concern of yours. My friend did "I am concerned that the British government controls our every action" and another friend did "I am concerned that the British government only gives us free education to filter out intelligent people so that they can have as many low paid workers as possible." I did "I am concern about the abuse of the NHS and the abuse of nursing staff." A little less existential then my friends haha.
@@NyxFox Our school is usually like that but this time they literally said "talk about anything" so I think everyone was a bit stumped by it 😂 We had some pretty interesting ones though like the history of chess, why Manchester City is better than your favourite club, why house plants are good for our mental health, parts of a boat and paddle boarding. It was a bit daunting having so much freedom but it was surprisingly quite fun!
I don't know how so many of y'all have that confidence but I think if that happens to me I'm sticking with climate change is bad, like seriously dude how do you not get nervous😭
@@UnkownUnkown01 My trick is to print out the entirety of my speech word for word in small font, cut it out and stick it onto flashcards. I read over it as much as possible to make sure I use my notes as little as possible. I feel so powerful knowing I have the whole thing in front of me but everyone else thinks I've only got a few key words and phrases down 😌 I also like to look at different points on the wall behind the class so I don't have to make eye contact with people but I still get marks for making eye contact, my teacher taught us that one and it works a treat. Combine the two and it much more comfortable talking to other cuz you nearly eliminate fear of messing up and making eye contact with someone. I wish you luck for future speeches, I hope that maybe helps 😌✨
It's nice to see a young person with so much confidence. I wish more children had this. Though I find it kinda weird that a 15 year old is talking about her fertility.
The age of consent is 16, so she should be able to talk rationally about "fertility" by then and even joke about it, and she's been educated so well about human sexuality and relationships that she's already more confident discussing both of them than many people are for their whole lives.
I know this comment was a month ago and video a year ago. But when I was 15 I know a majority of students in my school was sexual even at 14. Well even alot of people lost viginity at 15. Yeah it is weird when you are older but if you was also 15 it wouldn't be weird.
society has gone full circle. We used to marry off girls as young as possible so they could have as many babies as possible. We went through a whole child protection phase, and now we've gotten loose about sexuality to the point where we're back to sexualizing children. We used to sexualize children for marriage, and now casualness, so we went full circle, just in the reverse direction
Thank you Maria, I was having a long day at work and felt like half dead. Your presentation lit me the hell up 180 degrees. Now I feel like today isn't so bad. I hope you a bright future and a loving partner who appreciate all the perks of dating you and TOTALLY no disadvantages.

My friend did "I am concerned that the British government controls our every action" and another friend did "I am concerned that the British government only gives us free education to filter out intelligent people so that they can have as many low paid workers as possible."
I did "I am concern about the abuse of the NHS and the abuse of nursing staff." A little less existential then my friends haha.
I wish you luck for future speeches, I hope that maybe helps 😌✨
is this a mew thing??? GCSE speeches??
It's nice to see a young person with so much confidence. I wish more children had this. Though I find it kinda weird that a 15 year old is talking about her fertility.
The age of consent is 16, so she should be able to talk rationally about "fertility" by then and even joke about it, and she's been educated so well about human sexuality and relationships that she's already more confident discussing both of them than many people are for their whole lives.
It’s just modern humor lol
I know this comment was a month ago and video a year ago. But when I was 15 I know a majority of students in my school was sexual even at 14. Well even alot of people lost viginity at 15. Yeah it is weird when you are older but if you was also 15 it wouldn't be weird.
society has gone full circle. We used to marry off girls as young as possible so they could have as many babies as possible. We went through a whole child protection phase, and now we've gotten loose about sexuality to the point where we're back to sexualizing children. We used to sexualize children for marriage, and now casualness, so we went full circle, just in the reverse direction

This is actually so good. I am going to University now and even I can’t get this confident 😂 This is hilarious and amazing at the same time and glad to see that the world has been opening up to allow such presentations! You have a great humour and I’m sure it will serve you well in life!
My English teacher showed this to us in class as prep for our speaking exam, and after watching this I realise how much I want to do a comedy sketch like this one
Edit: so I did my speech on having to write a speech and I'm pretty sure I got a Distinction! Thank you for uploading this video, it really helped me realise that I don't have to take it seriously.
What you do it on?
Yay!!! I'm so proud of you!!!
congrats 😭😭
U did ur speech on having to write a speech Snsn
similar trip, although I wish I watched this beforehand, I did mine on 'communication' and quoted the mark scheme claiming it's ridiculous because we arguably do not even need words to be intelligent
i’ve had this recommended 3 times now over the years and i’m glad the algorithm keeps bringing me back here
it’s the 4th time now 😭❤️
I’m so happy that this year we don’t have to send it off to the exam board so my teacher gave the majority of us distinctions
i don't even have to do it for some reason
SAME
what?? we had to send it in and im in yr 10
My GCSE speaking exam was in front of a tenth of this audience, was far less personal and was only half as long and I still stuttered through half of it, genuinely impressed at how you managed to have this much confidence delivering this
Dude, when I did mine it was in front of the teacher and one classmate who was also my friend, it was still a disaster
@@yamiali1783 We tend to worry more about what the people we care about think.
Same and I managed to get a distinction which I’m confused how, she did so much better!
Dear Maria,
After further inspecting your incredibly rich and well prepared presentation on why any person (especially the ladies) would find you attractive, I, as a representative of the male community, approve that you are in fact an attractive and charismatic human being, making you a perfect mate evolutionary speaking. Your knowledge, skills, and silk-smooth skin surely have impacted a lot during the presentation, making any person watching this feel as if you were, indeed, the perfect mate any person would wish to have. I appreciate especially the honesty of your cons, that surely made you, as an individual, a humble and self-conscious girl. Thank you for your presentation, that surely made some people do things they couldn’t think they were able to do before.
Have a nice day.

Bro she was 15 making this speech tf?
I think she'd have preferred a representative of the female community
@@Abawhani awesome I'm born the same year as her, plus it's not meant to be a "predatory" comment, rather it's me commenting on the points she made, but you ruined the joke 🤷♂️
@@36melodyproduction that's for sure
Cringe and creepy
5 years later i need an update! Who could not be moved by this beautiful speech
Good evening miss,
This is an official business-related comment from the GigaChad Community Enforcement Group (GCEG).
We are writing to inform you that the GCEG has reviewed your case and would like to commemorate your outstanding work on this formal presentation. As you say, you are unlike most girls. In fact, most people do not understand the fact that dating is a very transactional endeavor, and that simply providing the facts in a (clearly) unbiased manner goes a long way in terms of one's affection.
With this in mind, and following your presentation's heated impact, the GCEG would like to award you with an official award of romantic achievement. You are an outstanding role model for what the GCEG represents and we wish you the best of luck in your romantic endeavors.
Kind regards,
GigaChad Community Enforcement Group
The miss in the title should be capitalised as it is a salutation and a replacement for a proper noun.
