A title I have a great deal of nostalgic affection for, and it was nice to see a video talking about it and bringing up it's graphical team especially- I didn't know at the time I played it that it was the same time behind Shining Force, but I loved the Shining games back on Genesis and loved the style here as well. Just a shame that the reason I stumbled on this video was because I was searching for stuff on Yoshitaka Tamaki, the character-designer, who unfortunately died of lung cancer this year :( So even if I think it'd be really great to see Alundra back on the Switch, it's bitter-sweet that he won't be around to see it.
Ah that's sad to hear about Tamaki (RIP), hopefully they would find a tasteful way to bring it to the Switch, or any other modern platform, while paying homage to him.
I'll say this again as I've said it countless times since internet gaming forums were a thing: Alundra is the best 2D Zelda that's not Zelda. Just like Okami was the best 3D Zelda for a while. I absolutely love Alundra to this day and still replay it every so often. I'm always glad to see people recognizing this game somehow. Great vid!
Lol, I never thought about that! But that is funny. And yea, Alundra 2 was pretty big let down, I rented it when it came out and couldn't get into it at all.
Oh you covered Alundra as well? You got good taste my good man. Totally agree, people seem to wanna call this game a zelda clone, which is really unfortunate imo. It's so much more than that
Haven't heard of it before but I'm down for a fun game with a Kohei Tanaka (more like koh hay) who scores the Sakura Wars series, and Gunbuster in addition to the ones you mentioned.

It definitely deserves so much recognition. I'm just always so surprised by how many people have never even heard of it.
I always chuckle at that name as I think "I know a village!" I agree, this is a great game that I wish more people played.
Alundra 2 on the other hand... Ehhhhhh
Lol, I never thought about that! But that is funny. And yea, Alundra 2 was pretty big let down, I rented it when it came out and couldn't get into it at all.

Well made comprehensive vid. Just subscribed! How long play time does the game take to finish?
Hey, thanks for the sub! And I believe it took me around 30 hours or so to finish.
Probably my favorite game of all time and always will be!
Same here!
Alundra is a great game, pretty tough at times though.

Yea, I'm not super familiar with Tanaka's work. But from what I've heard of his music, I am a fan. And thanks for the info.
I can vouch that is pretty great on handheld, since you can buy the PS1 version on the Vita and maybe also the PSP.
Had this game for a long time but have never tried it. Thanks for the reminder
Oh definitely give it a shot! It's worth a playthrough for sure.
Great game! Odd how Alundra is so much cheaper in Pal regions to buy 😄
Lol, yea it definitely seems like a lot of the Pal versions are a lot more friendly on the wallet. Retro game prices get so overblown.
I remember I bought this game at a game store long ago. I never beat it and can’t remember why I stopped playing. Maybe it was the puzzles 😂😂
Lol, well you should give it another go! The puzzles can get pretty difficult at times though.
i played this masterpiece many times
And I hope you enjoyed it! It's definitely a game from my childhood that still holds up today.
