It was actually written for a german boxer, and the part I love most about it is how there’s three choruses, with the first two never reaching ten but the last one does as if he was knocked down twice and kept fighting but was knocked out in the final round It gives me that feeling of a boxer fighting a losing battle, but still never giving up

But it seems the song has been reworked as a innuendo of a sexual infatuation in an unreciprocated relationship (the narrator is like a moth drawned dangerously by a light and we all know where it leads). What the clip would imply.
I've always thought it's about mephedrone addiction. "The sun is shining out of my eyes" shows physical effects of this substance. And the feeling of the world's end is a reference to immediate death caused by this addiction. The victim of this disease realizes they're to die very soon, so they accept this fate and just burn out.
I like to think this song is about a city being disintegrated, and wrote a melodic translation that captures this interpretation. Still, the beauty of Rammstein is that you can easily interpret many of their songs many different ways.
This is rapidly becoming one of my all time favorite songs. If I don't stop listening to it and hearing it in my head (and in my heart) all day long, it'll become not only one of my favorite songs, but my all time favorite, though eclipsing Spiral Architect will be difficult.
This has basically been my favourite song since I first listened to it. I find it absolutely flawless in lyrics, sound, meaning and everything else. I also think ‘sie ist der hellste Stern von allen’ is probably my favourite line of all time, it’s sounds so beautiful but also has such powerful connotations (especially within the context of the rest of the song)
@@xBassel92x no. The song was initialy made as a ring entrance theme for vladimir(or vitaly, don t quite remember which one of them) klitschko. That's why he counts to 10 in the beginning and sings about fists
Am I the only one who, when I first looked up the lyrics, thought this song was about nuclear war? The world counting to 10 and seeing the sun, feeling the burn on your face, etc. I mean I know it's about boxing but still I like to think of it like that.
At first it meaned to be called Boxer and it was for Klitchko when his match was starting like his hymn. He did not want that ''because the song is too hard'' so they left it. After that there were idie about videoclip and in it the band should fly in B-29 and drop atom bomb on Hiroshima. But they had problems with previous album so they left it too. So you are right actually.
I interpret the song to be about Capitalism Vs Communism. Like with the video, it shows workers being exploited and when Snow white dies they no longer have any reason to live. And the lyrics like " when it breaks out of the fist it lays hotly on your face" show that some times the system cannot be brought down peacefully, and "The world counts loudly to ten" which says that everyone in the world wants change and that everyone in the world is needed in order for change to occur.
i've listened to this song for about 20 years. Cant believe it's taken me this long to finally look a youtube video to finally find out what the lyrics are...
I speak neither English or German, having Portuguese as my mother tongue.. but rammstein always hit me hard. Think I'll end up learning German just to sing along these lyrics
I think the sun refers to cruelty. The music video shows snow White as cruel and as the Apple falls on her she becomes alive. Meaning cruelty never goes away. Its explaining how cruelty can affect you. It's a pure theory
I like singing it in German, because German is awesome. Even if I end up singing nonsense words because I don't know the words in German. Let this song echo through the cosmos as a dying world's last breath.
I feel like this is a metaphor for a powerful, beautiful, yet abusive figure. Considering the music video is a twisted play on "Snow White and The Seven Dwarves", where the band members all worship her, yet she makes them do hard labour. I think being afraid of the light is to be afraid of this potentially loved, yet very corrupt and scary figure. That's how I saw it... Considering Rammstein's more unique and powerful songs are usually metaphorical.
To the two guys that are arguing about German beginning related to Latin: While the Germanic and Romance languages are different language groups it is not wise to say that they are related or not related. Especially when regions like Germany and England both shared relations with Rome during its rise and fall. Most of Europe came to admire the Roman Empire during the Medieval era, including the Russian being influenced by the Byzantines and the Greco-Roman language. If someone was to claim that German has no Latin influence they are not only dismissing the Germany and Austrian Holy Roman Empire, but they are dismissing the fact that Germans use the Roman numerical system, the Latin alphabet, language genders, conjugations, and word endings. Anyone that studies a little French and a little German can see many unusual similarities. Also the Anglo-Saxons were not simply Germans. They were called Anglo-Saxons because it was meant to be a general term used for anyone from Jutland or Northern Germany. The mudslinging culture war doesn't help anyone wanting to listen to Rammstein.
It's actually the Arabic numeral system, not the Roman one. Roman numerals are I, II, III, IV, et cetera. The Arabic numerals are the 1, 2, 3... system that you are familiar with.
That high pitched singing has this really nostalgic feeling to it, but I can't quite place it. Does anyone know if they recorded it for the song, or if it's from something else?
