That drone shot of Torreys in the spring was incredible!
Major Cody Townsend vibes. Love your videos!
Honored with the comparison, thanks 🙏🏽
it'd be interesting for you to do a video on what you think your consistent climbing has done for your over all fitness and how you manage it to stay in mountaineering shape in between hikes.
Will cover that in this Q&A - great question: ua-cam.com/video/XlbO1fnC9KI/v-deo.html
thanks for posting this very cool! i did kelso ridge after watching your vid! most exposed climb ive ever done :)
Another amazing video! :) thankful for your content !
After tagging Grays and Torreys last fall, I was having a snack in my vehicle at what I thought was the lower TH when a guy walked up to let me know I was parked on private property. I apologized, as what I read online seemed to suggest that the entire dirt area off the road was OK to park (I'm talking about the dirt area around the old brick building and chimney remnants at the base of the road to the upper trailhead). He said that area is entirely privately owned except for the paved parking spots that bikers use. Was a surprise to me and the guy was nice enough (I think he got it that I sincerely would not have parked on private property had it been posted or had I known). Just an FYI for future hikers, the lower TH is WAY smaller than you read online (unless this guy was lying which I sincerely believe he was not). Maybe he just mentioned it to me because I was in a van and he thought I was planning on camping, but FYI.
Good to know, I know the road is becoming very sensitive with new landowners and houses going up but never realized the I70 TH had private land there too.
Dead dog looks great. Will have to put this on my list for next year
Def a fun one!
Great video as usual. I really enjoyed these this time of hear when i did them around 10 years ago. A lot of fun. Snow looks soft for this early . Been a weird year for weather and especially wind
Winds have been brutal this year
This is our first year here and it is good to hear this is not usual.
@@AD04070 i have lived here most lf my 5 decades Worst year by a long shot. It does get windy a few days every spring though but this year has been crazy
You can hold that cam very steady while you board, good job. You made a really nice vid. Thanks.
Looks awesome! What date did you do this? Thinking about hiking the standard route soon.
Do you mind me asking where you live? Just finished my 14th 14er would love to hit one with you if you ever decide to go! I’m near Denver myself! Looking at doing castle/conundrum, wetterhorn/uncompahgre or the crestones next! Cheers brother!
So bony. Did turning fork in June a few years ago and there was way more snow. Brutal.
Yeah, the north facing stuff was depressingly low. Hope this new storm helped a bit with water - but I am sure this line is still not in.
@@TheVirtualSherpa yea, don't think it'll fill it in. Bummer
Where did you go to learn about avalanche stuff? Are there good resources online?
GREAT question and I want to answer it, but think it deserves a bit of time. Will tackle that one here: ua-cam.com/video/XlbO1fnC9KI/v-deo.html
Cool, thank you! Great video btw
Try some Skiis next time 😄😎
I tell myself this every time I start post holing - but to be fair - the skiers ahead of me had the same problems, the snow was just so rotten.
was it closed closed or just need a good suv ?
Even with a "good SUV" the snow levels are too high to get up much past the road split usually. The worst thing that people do is drive in the morning when the snow is crisp and then get stuck there in the afternoon when the snow softens up - sometimes for days/weeks on end and blocking other future drivers from getting up the road.
Noticed your helmet is orange, did the green one break?
Someone licked it
Had the red one for about a year - lost the green one a while back.
Grays/Torreys doesn’t count unless you hike from the lower TH :)
Well no hike from Colfax Avenue than your legit. Lower is cheating too. And if your ever on Mt. EVEREST start it from the ocean that's legit too.
