Intro scared the crap outta me...Lived in Colorado all thru the '80s, Maroon Peaks the best ever. You're doing a hike i always wanted to do, thanks for taking me along...new song is so awesome Elise...Rocky Mountain High!!!
Haha hope we didn’t frighten ya TOO much Bill! You’re so lucky to have lived there for a decade. We dream of moving there for a few years one day. Until then, getting small adventures in like this will have to tide us over!
You two are the best hiking couple on UA-cam. Can't get enough of the hikes and all the smiles! Makes me excited to start integrating hiking back into my life now that I have the right heart meds 😁
Aw thank you so much for telling us that. Nothing makes us happier than feeling like we can even play a small part in inspiring you to get out and explore this beautiful world through hiking. We’ve gone on hundreds of hikes and one thing we can say for certain is that it always makes your day better, even if it’s just a short one. Wishing you happy hiking and good health ❤️
That is so awesome Bonnie! You just made both of us feel SO happy! We are so honored and delighted that we inspired you into this incredible sport. Huge congratulations, and please keep us updated on your progress ❤️
Awww thanks so much Abra! You are always so kind and supportive. We’re currently stuck in LA traffic trying to get to another adventure, and your words brought a HUGE smile to our faces, which Adam definitely needs right now because he is driving 🤣
I've stood at the base of the Bells... and I've hiked peaks around and near them... but the Bells themselves scare the crap out of me. Those two are seriously dangerous. Lots of rotten rock up there. But absolutely stunning. I grew up in Denver and we spent the summer hiking 14ers. CO's mountains have such a unique feeling to them.
Ya the Bells are a bit scary -- the hardest thing was route finding on that upper part. If you find the exact route it's not so bad, but it was virtually impossible for us at least to stay on route going up. Looking forward to doing lots of CO 14ers on a trip out next summer! ❤️
@@ChrisHausner that's good to know. I don't mind scrabbling over shale and scree at all. Plenty of peaks get like that near the summit. These just look so intimidating. Cameras may also be making it look more steep than it actually is. I'd love to stand up there. The whole area around Aspen is ridiculously pretty.
Thank you so much Amy! What a wonderful and kind description -- if we could describe ourselves as we'd ideally like to be, "adorable but incredibly tough" would pretty much be it!
Really glad I found your channel a number of videos back. Love both your personalities especially with the positivity and quirkiness! Im inspired to start planning more epic sufferfest adventures!
Yes Melvin! You have no idea how pumped you just made both of us. There’s nothing we love to hear more than that we’ve inspired someone to get out and sufferfest. It is so good for your soul. Once you start you never look back. Please keep us updated on your suffer-quest!
Very exhilerating and scrarey to watch at times. Thanks for surviving it and producing this video. 👏 I thought for a minute there Adam was going to take a nap at the top. I'm sure he would have if it weren't for the pending storms. 😉
Haha!! You just made Adam so happy with that comment. He thinks you are absolutely 100% right that if there was no pending storm he would have been napping for a half hour. He even went so far as to point out the perfect spot where he would have taken a nap had he had the opportunity. So glad you liked this one, we really loved it and won’t ever forget it!
Haha we're there with you, David. We've been really missing both CO and the Dolomites, so have been rewatching those vids ourselves. But summer -- and summer adventure travel -- is coming! ❤️
No trail, no problem. You guys are really amazing! I on the other hand wanted to cry descending Baldy bowl to ski hut slipping an sliding. Thought of you both and your traverse when I went.
Haha, thank you so much for thinking of us! We absolutely love that Ski Hut trail. And honestly, that thing is nearly as steep in some places as many of the off trail routes we do, the only thing it’s missing is some of the vertical rock climbing… but we could probably even find that if we just went a little bit off trail :)
Aw thanks so much Corinna, you are so sweet! We absolutely LOVED this climb. We had looked up at Maroon Peak many times before but never did we think we’d actually climb on top of it! So wild! ❤️
Wow! Thank you so much. We’re so glad you found us too, and that you like the vids so far. Stay tuned… currently in the car on the way to Utah to do a couple adventures that we’re hoping will be pretty cool 🤗❤️
You two are so brave! I don't know that I could climb something like that. I'm more of a pure hiker and don't want to risk my life to do a hike but what a view! You two are also in such great shape! I know how hard it is to climb up. I live in Florida and it is very hard for me to go up those mountains. I'm getting older now and I am retired so unfortunately I'll probably be slowing down but I'll keep hiking and exploring as long as I can! Thanks again and please be careful.
Thanks Joseph! And we totally understand where you're coming from with hiking and exploring. We're very aware that one day we'll slow down too, but feel so grateful to be able to do climbs like this while we can. Definitely not many mountains in Florida, but we actually want to come out there at some point and hike the Everglades!
Aw thanks so much! It’s funny because neither of us really considered ourselves musicians until creating this channel, but having adventures like these serves as such an incredible inspiration to create music that reminds us of the experience and hopefully takes people there with us as well ❤️
I have watched all of your videos and have enjoyed every one. The scenery is absolutely beautiful, and I love the music. With each new video, you seem to be taking greater risks! Please be careful so that we can continue to enjoy your adventures.
Thank you so much, Virginia! We really hear you and do promise to be careful. If it's any comfort, we honestly never felt in too much jeopardy on this climb. We like to think we learned a good lesson on that crazy Galena Peak traverse (which because of the crumbling rock turned out to be a little outside our risk tolerance) and have been trying since then to manage our risk better (and bring helmets when in doubt about rockfall!). Of course it's natural to take on harder challenges as our skill and fitness levels improve, but we definitely will make sure to tackle those challenges as safely as possible because we want to be adventuring for decades to come!
Tim that is freaking awesome! Congratulations!!! So happy for you. And wonderful that you did it at such a beautiful time of year as well. We were actually in Aspen at exactly the same time as you just to experience peak fall -- Maroon Bells and also Conundrum! We were probably looking up at Maroon Peak and reminiscing about it right around when you were summitting! ❤️
the deadly bells,i climbed up to Fravert basin with college roomate ( Western state college in Gunnison)1981-2? saw the bells from the south side.....rugged magnificence.
Awesome, Cliff! They really are spectacular. What a great memory to have from college -- we both had lots of outdoor adventure with college roommates too, including Adam's first-ever rock climbing adventure! Great stuff to look back on, and we still do adventures with some of those friends today!
Thanks Ashwin! We really had a great time in CO, and really enjoyed the beauty of the Aspen area. Except of course for the daily afternoon thunderstorms, which definitely did entail a LOT of butt hustling 🤣
You are always the sweetest Debbie! Maroon Peak is one of our new all time favorite climbs and it’s just so incredible that we got to share that with you. We hope it’s now one of your favorite peaks too!!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard it’s really hard to choose a favorite. Although, I love the sax in the beginning, your singing & the scenery. You guys are awesome❣️
Thanks William! So glad you're liking the music as well -- we really enjoy writing and recording these songs, and will have a couple of new ones in upcoming videos this fall! ❤️
I Enjoyed the Maroon Bells when I did them ! I went up the North Maroon first then across the ridge to Maroon peak ! Im so glad I did both peaks and the ridge all at once for the reason that I read you could do both of them without protection and knowing the "Deadly Bells " are serious Peaks ,I didn't want to go back twice!! It was the best climb I've ever done ! I enjoyed every SECOND of that climb !! Congrats on your climb! Now you know what the North Maroon be like if you decide to climb it! Good luck and be Safe! ENJOY😁⛰️🧗!!
That's awesome, Stephen -- good for you getting that whole thing done in a day! We originally had the exact same plan as you, for the same reasons, but couldn't do it because there were afternoon thunderstorms forecast for every day we were there and we didn't want to risk being up there during lightning. But the good news is that now the Bells traverse and Pyramid Peak are good reasons for us to go back and spend more time in the area -- love Aspen! ❤️
The Maroon Bells Are amazing-particularly in fall! I still love the Sierras best, though. The things you two do are incredible! It’s always wonderful to watch you guys climb peaks I’d never have attempted when I was in shape for it! I love the music you guys do as well... your writing aptly conveys in music where you are in the mountains! Another fabulous video! Keep on keepin’ on... carefully! 🙂💕🎹🎼🏔🌲
Thank you so much Michael! Yes, the Sierras will always have our hearts, but we were so fortunate to get to do some exploring in CO this summer. The summit views were some of the best we've seen, and the approach up to the base of Maroon Peak reminded us a lot of some of the trails along the Alps. So glad you enjoyed this one, and that we could take you to a peak you've never done before!
Thank you so much -- that makes us very delighted to hear!! And stay tuned -- we just did recon today for an EPIC adventure that should be up in a couple weeks!
Elise has a funny quirk where she feels like every summit we get to is her new favorite summit. At first we would laugh about that, but we've come to realize that it's actually a great way to approach these: each one is your favorite while you're on it. But one day it will be fun to look back and think about which are the ones we really remember -- probably those will be the favorites!
The lesson of Maroon Peak: marmots are jerks! Nice job on both the up and down climb on an iconic Colorado 14er! Such a great view and you guys beat the rain.
Haha ya those marmots really had their way with us, but being on that incredible peak was definitely worth the sacrifice of a pole! Really hoping to get back to CO in the spring/summer. ❤️
Thanks so much Edward! Many people get to see the Maroon Bells from down below, but far fewer are crazy enough to make the climb to see the views from above at the summit, so we’re very happy we could share them with you!
Billy that is awesome to hear! We love Colorado so much, and are planning to come adventure there again in the fall. What a blessing that you get to live and hike there! We know what you mean about setting limits on what hikes you will attempt, though in our experience as your hiking and climbing level goes up so too will your risk tolerance increase. Given that you're interested in increasing the difficulty level of your hikes, we won't be too surprised to see you doing Maroon at some point in the future (though with that said, it is definitely dangerous for anyone and there's nothing wrong with just always staying away from truly dangerous hikes!). ❤️
@@user-tn5vm9fr9f Oh heck yes, the Gore Range looks fantastic! Not only jagged peaks but also beautiful lakes to jump in after, which as you know from our Sierra adventures is totally our style!
2nd time watching. Beautiful! Thanks so much for the unusually great video in 4K. Appreciate the higher quality. Great editing with the music - as usual!!!!
Thanks so much! We're definitely always trying to up our video quality. Doesn't always come together perfectly on hard hikes (especially if the light is low) but super happy that this one turned out well!
Each video I watch is more incredible then the last! Climbing those rock faces laterally looks insane. Congrats on getting to the top! Is it just the two of you on these climbs? If so do you guys just swap the camera back and forth? The video, editing and music is top notch!
Thanks so much -- what a kind and generous compliment! Yes, the vast majority of the time it is just the two of us on these adventures. Once in a while Adam's daughter will come with us on a hike, but 95% of the time it's just us swapping back and forth. Honestly, we kind of like keeping the whole thing is in house: we've never once had an argument with a filmer, editor, or songwriter because we just do it all ourselves!
If you look carefully, you'll notice that the rock face he is climbing up at 6:26 is the same one that he is shimmying across like its a narrow ridge at 4:36. Getting to the top is no small accomplishment, but a lot of the clips in this video are absolutely staged for effect.
Thank you so much! We’ve been working hard on our camera skills, and although we still have a very long way to go, it’s very nice to hear that the work is paying off. Really glad you liked this climb, it was for SURE one of our all time favorites!
Wow, 4:37-4:58, that looks pretty intense and scary but y'all make it look so easy.. The view at the top was just amazing as well. I just binged some of your videos and I absolutely love your channel! Super daring hikes done with such precision and enthusiasm
Thanks Neena -- so glad you're enjoying the channel!! Looking forward to sharing lots more epic adventures with you in 2022, both in the U. S. and also hopefully some European climbing this summer! ❤️
We lived in CO. No more for us. A short time after it got to ---34 degrees, I guit my job! Then. sold the house in five days and left the State. For us it was a good move. Your climbing is fun to watch!!!!!! Good luck always.
Ya Ben we totally understand getting out of the cold. We love exploring CO, but always do it in the summer!! We feel super lucky to live in LA, where it can sometimes get up to 70F even in January. Huge congrats on the house sale and move -- it takes guts to try something new, but we feel confident it's going to work out great for you!
This is Ben. I would like to give you more info.---------we left Co. a long time ago. We were not happy with the cold weather. So.ca. is where we moved. Not, sorry for moving either. I can't go into details, but, We are happily retired now and enjoy many things. U-TUBE , is one of many. The weather here, hasa g been good for us. I even do wood projects outdoors. That is great for me. I take breaks for U-TUBE , and that is where I see you. And, i enjoy seeing both of you.
Nice! I'm in Rocky Mountain National Park next week, and I just can't wait. I was also in LA last week and did Strawberry Peak before catching a flight out of LAX thanks to you guys!
Omg really?! That is so awesome! We’re very honored that you followed our route. Did you enjoy strawberry peak? It’s pretty awesome up there. What are your plans for the Rockies?
Yes!! That makes us super psyched and really proud to hear. This one is definitely a lot harder than Angel's Landing, but so, so worth it. One of our all-time favorite climbs for sure!
I thought I would go back and view any of your climbs in Colorado and to see you two doing Maroon Peak so effortlessly. No fear! After viewing this climb, I think Little Bear Peak will be doable because "The Deadly Bells" has caused many a climber to lose their lives. It is often recommended to use a guide and ropes as well. But there you are climbing without any protection and basically no equipment to speak of. This was not on my bucket list, but I did enjoy the 34 peaks that I did summit sometimes twice. So, I feel much better at telling you about Little Bear Peak and the traverse. Great video coverage of your breath-taking adventure.
Thanks very much -- that is a fantastic recommendation! We had honestly never heard of Little Bear Peak before, but just did a full beta dive and it looks right up our alley: challenging, uncrowded, a little bit heart-pounding in places and with beautiful views at the top! We will most likely do it next summer. Awesome that you've done 34 CO peaks -- we hope to get to that point one day as well! ❤️
Thanks for taking me along! I'm 68, so I don't feel compelled to do this--it makes Katahdin's Knife Edge and the Huntington Ravine Trail on Washington look like CHILD'S PLAY! Excellent video!!
It's truly our pleasure -- and yeah, at 68 you've earned the right to skip Maroon Peak if you want! We actually hope to come out there at some point and do both Katahdin and Washington -- we've heard both are beautiful. Meanwhile, so glad you liked the video. Check out the Cloudripper one when you get a chance -- after that climb, Maroon Peak didn't seem so bad!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard At Katahdin, I think a Dudley, Knife Edge, Cathedral run could amuse you. There are several fun trails around Washington, some of which I haven't tried--And there are good technical climbs which I Definitely haven't tried! Up Ammonoosuc Ravine, summit, down Jewell is a good loop; up Huntington Ravine, summit, down Tuckerman Ravine in my video; up Six Husbands, summit Jefferson, double over to Adams and descend Buttress or Madison Gulf, are all good. I need to get over and climb King Ravine to Great Gully--too many distractions!
Those are really great suggestions that would work very well with the spirit of our channel-- thank you very much, and we will of course let you know when we come out to try some!!
Next time you guys come out to UT, come up north to Provo... hike Mt Timpanogos. It's an iconic looking mountain... 11,750 ft. The trial from the Provo Canyon side is 14 miles out and back and 5,000 ft elevation gain. Waterfalls, rivers, glacial lakes, boulder field, a ridgeline and a very narrow summit with an incredible view in all directions. Just a bit south is Mt Nebo which is taller and has a lot of lose rock scrambling to the summit. Again, another incredible peak and view. There are also two very popular ridge runs... the PURL and the WURL. Both hit a dozen peaks and along their ridges.
had to watch this a 2nd time ,, that is the scariest episode yet w all that loose rock n narrow ledges.. im telling all my friends about your channel ... i usually bike everyday n workout but after seeing u 2 having so much fun running i added that back in,,,,,,all the best ,,, stay safe..
Yes yes yes! There's literally nothing that makes us happier than having a positive influence on someone's adventure and/or workout life. Seriously SO stoked you are running -- and BTW, we love doing some biking too, as you'll see in the adventure coming up this week. Thank you so much for spreading the word about our channel -- word of mouth like that is the best possible way to build a positive, supportive community of like-minded folks!
Thank you so much! And that is a super cool idea about the jam sesh. Maybe in the depths of winter we’ll put together some kind of music fest along with some highlights of the past year’s adventures. 🤗
Thanks so much Raymond! That’s exactly how we felt about it. We know not everyone is going to be able to do a hike like this, but we definitely think everyone deserves to see the beauty up there. It was truly astonishing! ❤️
Thank you very much! We were super glad this one turned out well, because honestly to the eye it was totally incredible. The colors there, combined with the sublimely steep rock, just make for extreme beauty. So glad you liked it!!
Thanks so much James -- we're very happy you found us and are liking the channel! We absolutely will keep it up, and in fact have a real humdinger coming up for you next week, so stay tuned! ❤️
This is right in my backyard and it is such a gift to be able to see it all from an angle I've never been able to see it! Thank you for packing so much inspiration and joy into this video :) I would love if you guys considered doing a what I eat in a day video! I know nutrition is such an important part of fueling adventures and I'd be so curious to see your beta on how you've optimized it for yourselves!
Thank you so much -- you're so lucky to live in the Aspen area. It's absolutely incredible! And we will absolutely do a nutrition video, probably in the next couple of months. It's a great idea, and we have lots to say on the subject!
Best vid yet you two. And the location was a long awaited one. Frightening. That’s rock I’d never get on. Looked so loose and the route finding would’ve been a nightmare.
Thanks so much!! Really glad you feel that way, because we actually love this one too -- not just the climb but the video as well. We like it because it actually does visual justice to some of the intensely steep parts, which isn't always the case given that our cameras tend to flatten things out. And you're right about the rock -- its crumbliness was really what made the hike so hard. But on the upside, that difficulty level also made it totally deserted, and we had the mountain all to ourselves the entire day!
Haha thanks much. Yes the climb to the peak is a bit dicey in places, but as you saw the views are worth it! But to be fair, the hike up to the lake that you did is incredibly beautiful as well -- we just couldn't show that part because we started so early we had to do it in the dark! ❤️
Aw thanks so much Terra! Epic is definitely how we would describe Maroon Peak. It felt crazy to be on top of a peak that we’d been gazing in awe at from below for so many years!
Thanks so much Andy! You would love this one. It’s a lot of class 3 scrambling but as long as you stay on route there’s nothing that’s ever too terrifying. Hope you’re having some fun adventures out there as well!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks for the information. Definitely will mark this down :-) I did a backpacking in the Wind River Range in Wyoming last week of July with friends, including all 3 you also met the other day. Winds is very pretty. Hope one day you’ll go there and make some stunning videos like this one. Best!
That sounds awesome Andy! We don’t know too much about that area. We’ve only been to Wyoming once when exploring the Tetons, but we’re excited to research the wind river range!
Thanks Matt -- glad we could bring you a bit of vicarious anxiety! We were sweating a bit too -- especially coming down those loose-rock gullies. It really is green and beautiful there. Definitely the upside of those damnable afternoon thunderstorms!
Thanks very much! Glad you saw this one, because it's an all time favorite and we sometimes go back and watch it ourselves just because it brings back such great memories of the beauty up there! ❤️
Yes! That is totally an accurate sentiment. We have felt so “high” on our last couple of climbs particularly. Some of that is the adrenaline of doing really hard things and some is the really high altitude, but it really is like a drug. As soon as we get back down to sea level, we start jonesing for the mountains again! So glad you’re liking the music as well, that means a lot to us ❤️
Guys, that is one amazing video. That mountain looks vicious and unforgiving. The music was beautiful and complemented the video. Always enjoy following your adventures.
Thanks very much, Don! Yes we were a bit surprised at just how freaking steep it was. But, of course, totally worth it. So glad you liked the music -- we were pretty happy about how the sound came together on this one, and it's good to hear we're not alone!
Seeing you summit these is impressive! They are called the deadly bells for a reason! Speaking of marmots we had one of those guys take all of our sunscreen and we ended up getting a pretty bad sunburn. They are curious little critters!
Haha yes they are devious little suckers, but we love them for it (still PO'd about the missing pole, though, as you must be about the sunburn!). Definitely one of our all-time favorite summits -- the views from up there are just nuts!
Thanks Marcius! So glad you are enjoying the videos. We will definitely keep hiking in beautiful places -- it's our favorite thing to do, and we have so much left to explore! ❤️
I've been on that summit and you did a fantastic job of getting really good video of the climb and summit. It's my favorite summit of the many I have climbed however the view of The Bells from Pyramid is amazing. The video is really good and gives a pretty accurate view of the difficultly of the mountain without making it look much harder than it even is. Well done!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us to hear that we represented the mountain entertainingly but also accurately. Thanks for the tip on Pyramid- we’d really like to do that climb, as well as Capitol of course. That is hilarious about your poles! We knew that marmots eat through backpacks, we just had no idea about poles, just never occurred to us. But definitely a lesson learned 😂
OMG! You guys are amazing! My heart was pounding while watching you! Thank you for sharing us the magnificent view 😍 from the top! So thrilled to know how Elise stole your heart 3 hours after you've met.♥️ Love it! 💘
Awww thanks so much Elisa! And that really is a true story. Twelve hours after we met, Adam told me that I was his future. I thought it was a little odd at the time, but ten years later it is obvious that he was correct 😂❤️- E
Makes me wanna try again. Unfortunately I sprained my ankle on the way up the first time. I stepped in loose rotten gravel--like shattered safety glass; my ankle went sideways-I heard the tendon tear, it took almost an entire year to heal.
So sorry to hear about the ankle -- injuries are the worst! And we totally see how that could happen anywhere on the upper part of this climb starting with that crazy scree field. But yes, as long as you're fully healed, well worth celebrating with a redemption climb!
It’s definitely our pleasure! Knowing that we’re going to be sharing these adventures makes them even more enjoyable while we’re doing them. Sort of like how sharing a great bottle of wine is even better than drinking it yourself ❤️
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Thanks for taking the time to reply. I don’t drink anymore 😁 but I know what mean. 🙂. My girls say hi and love to watch your adventures.
SPECTACULAR CLIMB! I must say your human drone footage is out of this world guys. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to your next adventure. Stay safe! 😊
Haha love the concept of human drone footage Larry! Wait til you see the tracking shots we just started doing this weekend with a new little wearable camera -- will totally take the human drone to the next level! Very glad you're enjoying, and think you'll def love the next adventure!
I’m sure I will guys. Your fantastic! Can’t wait. Catching up on all your past adventure. Wow! Thanks again for sharing and all the hard work in filming you human drones. ❤️😊
Haha ya marmots are cute but also a lot of trouble -- just like Elise!😂 The trail on that last part really was hard to find and we ultimately just picked our own way in some places, but totally worth the effort! ❤️--A
So glad you enjoyed this one! For years, we marveled at the beauty of Maroon Peak from down below, so this climb was really special to us now that we finally had the skill (and courage!) to get up there. It was DEFINITELY worth the wait! ♥️
Great adventure. Looks like you have been spared the heat wave we are all being pounded with a bit up north. The lakes are getting too hot and we have Cyanobacteria in lake Gruyere where I live. No swimming. The mountains where you are - I love the colours. Your comments, it kind of changes and starts being moon like up there. I always think the same thing. The wind was very strong at some point. Looked quite scary. Enjoy your European adventure. I am guessing it is a honeymoon your style.
Thanks Anna! Yes the Euro honeymoon adventure is going amazing -- definitely lots and lots of climbing. So sad to hear about the Cyanobacteria -- that stuff is getting everywhere! Yosemite, Zion, it seems like everywhere we go now there's some kind of Cyano warning! ❤️
Nice job on the video production! A+ on the music!!! I may be a bit jaded to this stuff but that route, class 3, felt REAL SAFE compared to the traverse. I do think lots of rock climbing experience and having real hybrid approach shoes for the climbing makes it feel nice and secure. So glad to hear you say it was doable at the end.
Yes, we’ve definitely heard the traverse is the harder part of that route. Dying to try it, just need to be out there for long enough to catch a good weather window. Also trying to figure out how the heck we can film it if we have to start at 3 in the morning. What was your experience like on the traverse, any issues with route finding on the descent from North Maroon? Huge congrats on that!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard The fall is definitely the best time for a weather window, I did it last September but there was a recent snow making it much more difficult and beautiful. There is an extensive video of my solo climb on my channel. I would definitely watch it, I did get off route a couple times on the descent. Being able to move very quickly is critical. I actually rode my E bike in from the opposite side of Aspen leaving a long-term parking area, it was a long day. I would not recommend this climb for your partner if she took a helmet bonk during any part of the easier descent. On the traverse that could mean disaster. I’d be happy to help you guys with Colorado routes if you want, my channel is full of them and I am an expert native. Some of the desert Utah adventures are fantastic for winter too. As well as Las Vegas. I’m also pretty good with a drone. It adds a lot although, I’m learning advance Google earth for wilderness areas, no drone areas. Let me know how I can help. Cheers guys!!! Great job!!!
Thank you so much! That's great to know about the fall weather. We quickly learned on this trip that one sometimes has to be able to move fast in CO over technical terrain, which is something we are working on but have def not perfected. We will check out your traverse video, and will reach out to you next time we're planning a CO trip.
Thanks Tracy! So glad you enjoyed, and looking forward to making lots more CO videos because we're planning on spending a whole month or more right near you in the CO Springs area next summer!! ❤️
The Maroon Bells is hands down one of the most beautiful places in the world, and being on top of them? Life could not get any sweeter. So happy we got to share that moment with you ❤️
GREAT JOB GUYS!!!! SO AMAZING!!!! Really admire you and I am SO GLAD you showed the toughness of the descent. Just subscribed to your channel and really will look forward to seeing more of your adventures! I have done several "easy" 14'ners but now no longer can due to bad knees and such. You two are TRULY AMAZING! Cap'n Jack KE0VH
Thanks so much, Jack! Yes the descent was by far the diciest part of the whole thing -- glad you enjoyed, and look forward to bringing you lots more excitement! ❤️
Thanks Mark! Very glad you liked this one -- it's really one of our all-time favorites, both as a climb and as a video because it actually shows the steepness!
Thanks very much, Carl! We've been wanting to climb this mountain for years, but this was the first year that we truly felt ready both in terms of our fitness and our climbing skill-set. Turns out patience and constant practice really do pay off -- hopefully the same principles will apply to the channel growing as well!!!
Thanks so much Chris! We’ve been training mostly by trying to do challenging low elevation scrambles whenever possible in places like Joshua Tree or even Malibu Creek state park. But truth be told there’s nothing quite like the real thing when you’re up there on a potentially crumbly cliff face. The good news is that after the Galena to Little San G traverse and Cloudripper, Maroon Peak didn’t actually feel that scary. It was challenging and we could see how people could die on it, but we rarely felt in too much jeopardy 🤗
Thank you so much! It took some doing to get up there with the terrain and the altitude, but definitely well worth the effort. It was pretty hard to leave that summit!
This climb was incredible and seemed risky without ropes, at least from you camera angles. The potential falls looked steep, long and deadly...The rocks look like they'd fall apart, but none seemed to fall while you were filming. It would be great if you could publish somewhere your clothing/hiking/climbing/photo gear you take too. Thanks for the inspiring videos and stay safe!
Thanks David! We do have a gear video we put out a few weeks ago that has most of that info -- check it out! And you're right, there were a few pretty scary places on this hike with a lot of exposure. The good news is, the rocks weren't nearly as crumbly as we'd feared -- not nearly as bad as they were on the Galena Peak traverse, for instance -- so we never felt in too much jeopardy. We don't mind some exposure if the hand and foot holds are good and solid, and that was the case on most of the really steep stuff here. The exception was those crazy steep gullies -- they were loose in places and dicey to descend for sure! ❤️
You may have never felt in jeopardy for your lives but from our perspective you definitely looked like your life was on the line a few times. Hats of to you for the making the summit
Thank you so much! And yes you are right, there were a few times where, had we fallen, it would not have gone well. The jeopardy comment was just that we had confidence we’d be able to climb it safely given our current skill level. Thanks for your encouragement!
This is on my list to climb this year and to say the least, I am NERVOUS! But it looks epic! It will be my first class 4, unless I complete another class 4 before it this summer.
This is a great choice for a first one -- sooo beautiful and worth it at the top! -- and it's honestly not too bad if you're able to stay on the route. Just be prepared on the way up that the cairns are hard to find/follow, so you might get off route and just try to find your way safely back onto the main route. Please let us know how it goes -- you're going to love it! ❤️
What a spectacular climb. The views are amazing! Elise, I love your new song! I've noticed that for every "Adam Step" you need to take two with a full day pack! You're certainly a trooper. Adam, this morning, I found a "daddy long legs" Spyder in our garage and, of course, I thought of you. You're both really good people and that's one big reason why I enjoy watching you two together.
Gar your comments ALWAYS make us smile! The daddy long legs analogy was definitely appropriate for Adam, especially on this climb as he spidered himself up that ridge wall 😂 so happy you’re enjoying the music as well. One of our favorite parts of this UA-cam so far has been making friends with awesome folk like you! Thanks for the good vibes and laughs ❤️
Well done guys, another awesome adventure. You somehow really captured the steep gradient and exposure in this vid. Like the new song, sounds like it could be on a Bond movie
Thanks so much! We were totally going for an Adele "Skyfall" kind of vibe -- very glad to hear that you got that. It's funny about the gradient, because so often our cameras flatten things out and make them look less steep than they really were, but Maroon was so freaking vertical that they couldn't even flatten it! Glad you enjoyed.
You two want to team up with Foresty Forest for an adventure, he's from Canada, lives out of his Van, and goes places us mere mortals would never dream of. For the time and effort you put in, i cannot understand why you haven't got at least 100,000 subscribers. It's such a good thing you really enjoy your adventures, and allow we the public to come along and share. Thank you both, your so motivated and inspiring. Keep them coming, and take care of yourselves. Steve from the U/K
That would be awesome, Steve -- FF's adventures look very cool, and we love van-lifers! Really appreciate your kind support, and we will most definitely keep the adventures coming. In fact, we just finished a recon for what should be a pretty epic sufferfest that we're going on tomorrow!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Can't say your not on the ball you two, and thank's for the response. Might be a good idea to throw a few campfire chat's with some cooking into your show, you must spend some wonderful evenings out in the wilds, and there's nothing better than campfire talk.
That's a really nice idea. We get a bit nervous that maybe people don't want to hear us talk too much, but as we get more experienced we'll find the right balance. You are totally right -- we do spend some beautiful evenings in the wild. Probably the craziest so far was a cliff in the snow in Yosemite!
This was a fantastic video. What level of rock climbing are you capable of? Do you need much rock climbing experience to have the confidence to do this kind of class 3? I'm more a fire road hiker, but in my dreams I'd like to do something half as rad as this climb. You're both great people and I look forward to more of your videos. Please be safe!
Thanks so much, Joe! We are not particularly good rock climbers at the climbing gym (neither of us is particularly good with fingery, technical holds), but we have gotten good at the low-level class 5 stuff with wider or juggier holds, which is really what we need for the kind of hiking we do. In the future, we definitely intend to up our rock climbing game further because it helps so much with our confidence on climbs like this one, Cloudripper, Galena Peak, etc!
Thanks so much! Actually it was about as steep (if not steeper) as it looked on camera. The cameras often tend to flatten things out for us. Definitely one of the steepest climbs we’ve ever done. Fortunately though, the holds were pretty good, and we rarely felt like the exposure was potentially fatal. A lot of times it felt like a fall would cause a 10-20 ft drop and you’d wind up on a ledge, which wouldn’t be good of course, but never felt in too much jeopardy with our lives on this one. Definitely enough exposure to keep our attention the whole way though… our kinda fun!
WE feel like the lucky ones that you guys want to come along with us on these adventures! Seriously makes it infinitely more fun out there knowing you’re going to be experiencing all the joys, tears and triumphs right along with us!
Aw! Haha Adam sometimes likes to pretend that he’s all hardcore, but we all know he’s just a big ‘ol softy! E tends to think of it as dating a very large human puppy 🤣 SO glad you enjoyed this one. It truly was one of our favorite climbs to date and we just never know how it’ll translate, so very happy to know you had some fun with us on the adventure!
You are exactly right on both counts. The descent was way scarier and dicier, but we had absolutely no problem with route finding because the cairns were so easy to see from above. But going down those chutes? Whoa.
Thanks Mike! Wow, so jealous that you got to live in Aspen for 10 years. What a paradise for outdoors people -- you must have felt like you were in hiking heaven. It must have been great too to be constantly acclimated by living at such a high altitude. You probably felt like superman on those peaks compared to us coastal dwellers!
Yes Jonathan! We love CO, but it’s just so far from LA that it’s hard to get out there very often with work. But we do plan to make it a regular part of our rotation, because there’s at least a dozen CO peaks that we’re dying to climb!
Yes the down was more difficult for sure! But one nice thing was at least we didn't get off route on the way down from the summit because we could see the cairns from above, whereas when we were climbing up we often couldn't see them from below and got off the preferred route. ❤️
Thank you so much -- what a nice compliment!! It's really a privilege to be able to take you on these adventures, and we're so glad you're enjoying them. Setting out on an epic one tomorrow, so we're keeping them coming!
That’s what Adam says about me all the time- another good reason he decided to trail name me Marmot 😂 so glad the shots turned out on this one. It was so beautiful in person and we were worried the camera wouldn’t capture it well, but happy to hear it did!
Haven’t checked in with you guys in a while but man you replaced ropes with guts on this peak bag. The toothy marmots also ate most of my pole grips while overnighting at a beautiful turquoise-colored lakeshore in Glacier NP. You encountered bolder daytime bandits it seems.
Haha yes those marmots are super cute, but they are a real menace on gear! But we def learned a good lesson about not leaving our poles behind. Meanwhile, highly recommend Maroon Peak -- def an all-time favorite climb! ❤️
Thanks Todd! This one was immediately one of our all-time favorites -- just the steepness, the technical challenges, and the non-stop beauty combined to make it an incredible day that we won't soon forget.
Aw thank you so much Sarah! We could not believe the views from the summit of Maroon. Felt pretty surreal to be up there after so many years of dreaming about this peak. Glad you liked the adventure!
Wow great job both of you!! Loved the photography and all that you put into the climb. Was feeling a bit down after getting home from CO last week, but you put a smile on my face. :-)
Dan we totally felt the same when we got back! It's so hard to leave a beautiful place full of outdoor adventure, especially when you have to come back to a full work week. We already miss CO a lot. Very glad we could bring back some good CO vibes for you with this adventure!
Amazing!
Also wanted to say I did my first trailrun yesterday because of you guys, and boy does it make descending a lot more fun, thanks!
That is so awesome Bonnie! You just made both of us feel SO happy! We are so honored and delighted that we inspired you into this incredible sport. Huge congratulations, and please keep us updated on your progress ❤️
BADASS!! Adam and Marmot, love it! Your theme song along with that epic climb and those epic views...so much soul! Most amazing, inspiring couple ever
I've done the bells traverse. Don't let them scare you too much but they are stunning and unreal.
Amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing your hikes. You guys are adorable but incredibly tough!
Y’all were off route for awhile on this… happy you’re capable scramblers
Ya those cairns didn't help us much going up (though they were great coming down) -- it was scrambling and GPS that got us through!
Very exhilerating and scrarey to watch at times.
Thanks for surviving it and producing this video. 👏
I thought for a minute there Adam was going to take a nap at the top.
Had to watch this one again a few months later .. so beautiful !!!
The music is so beautifully haunting & syncs up perfectly with your climbing-love it!
That makes us so happy to hear! We've been working a lot on improving our songwriting and song production -- very glad that it is working!!
WHOOOHOOO! Way to go guys! Another winning video with great views, thanks for taking me with you! You literally ROCK!
Aw thanks so much Corinna, you are so sweet! We absolutely LOVED this climb. We had looked up at Maroon Peak many times before but never did we think we’d actually climb on top of it! So wild! ❤️
Hands down best videos on you tube!So glad I found your channel
I love how you are musicians but you're channel is about your adventures. Look forward to all of your upcoming vids
Keep up the climbing & hiking! I am looking forward to your next video!
Thank you, and we sure will, Jason! New videos every Thursday, unless it was pouring rain that weekend or we were too swamped with work! ❤️
Hey Adam and Marmot! I love this video! I watched it before I did the hike and now after- summited 9/29/24! Thanks for such a fun video ❤
Thanks for showing your climb of Maroon Peak. Cheers, Charles Maroon
Thanks Charles! We are fans of all things Maroon today 🤗 but seriously, it was a pleasure to share this beautiful peak.
Love the change of scenery but the same incredible epic adventure. Great work hustling your butts!
Thanks Ashwin! We really had a great time in CO, and really enjoyed the beauty of the Aspen area. Except of course for the daily afternoon thunderstorms, which definitely did entail a LOT of butt hustling 🤣
Incredible hike & views!!!
Thank you for taking us along ❣️
Stay safe😉😎
You are always the sweetest Debbie! Maroon Peak is one of our new all time favorite climbs and it’s just so incredible that we got to share that with you. We hope it’s now one of your favorite peaks too!!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard it’s really hard to choose a favorite. Although, I love the sax in the beginning, your singing & the scenery. You guys are awesome❣️
Great job guys! The music was an awesome addition to! Really enjoy your documentary of the various hikes.
You both are absolutely amazing! I’m in love with your videos .
Thank you so much -- that makes us very delighted to hear!! And stay tuned -- we just did recon today for an EPIC adventure that should be up in a couple weeks!
It will be difficult to have a favorite hike after you hiked so many beautiful places…
Great adventure!! Thanks for taking me there.
Thanks so much Edward! Many people get to see the Maroon Bells from down below, but far fewer are crazy enough to make the climb to see the views from above at the summit, so we’re very happy we could share them with you!
You two are a great couple! Very cool video.
Thanks very much -- so excited it's almost climbing season again, because we've got a lot of big ones on the menu for this year! ❤
@@LiveHardxLoveHard I just got back from Boulder and fell in love with the mountains. Any suggestions for a first summit?
@@saxabass Yes! Mt. Elbert via the Black Cloud Trail is a gorgeous but non-technical 14er -- and we did a video on it that will give you all the beta!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Awesome, thanks!
That is incredible! I live in Colorado and have been getting into more difficult hikes but Maroon is one I refuse to touch!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard haha thanks for the inspiration! You guys should check out the Gore Range near Vail, incredibly rugged, isolated and beautiful.
Stunning! Your climbs are fantastic and the videography is A********. Thank you for sharing the climb!

Strawberry Peak is no Joke. Happy Travels
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Strawberry Peak was great! For the Rockies, I'm just doing touristy day hikes: Sky Pond, Mt. Ida, and Chasm Lake!
@@justrione Haha I actually thought Strawberry Peak was pretty mild. But it's all relative!
Love you guys!! Really inspired me to take on a whole different life of climbing 🧗♂️ you guys stay safe out there love your content
@@LiveHardxLoveHard Never hesitate to ask, and I'll tell you what I know--thanks!
Such a beautiful hike and climb.
Thank you -- Maroon Peak really is just an incredible place. So looking forward to getting back to Colorado soon for more of these epic views!
Oh heck yes! Those are all on our list for sure!! ❤️

Nicely done👏🏻 you guys ROCK!!
Thank you so much! We feel like we’re still recovering from this one, but it was definitely pretty epic up there!
Awesome video. Each one gets better snd better! Funny animals! You should make a video of Elise doing a jam session. We would love it!
Thank you so much! And that is a super cool idea about the jam sesh. Maybe in the depths of winter we’ll put together some kind of music fest along with some highlights of the past year’s adventures. 🤗
Awesome effort and capturing the views for all to enjoy. Well done!
Thanks so much Raymond! That’s exactly how we felt about it. We know not everyone is going to be able to do a hike like this, but we definitely think everyone deserves to see the beauty up there. It was truly astonishing! ❤️
That’s the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen! Amazing work!
Thank you very much! We were super glad this one turned out well, because honestly to the eye it was totally incredible. The colors there, combined with the sublimely steep rock, just make for extreme beauty. So glad you liked it!!
I’m enjoying your channel which I just discovered. I love your positivity and your great attitudes! Keep it up 👍🏻

Whoa! I got up to Crater lake and I wouldn't image you could climb to the peak! Kudos to yall!
Haha thanks much. Yes the climb to the peak is a bit dicey in places, but as you saw the views are worth it! But to be fair, the hike up to the lake that you did is incredibly beautiful as well -- we just couldn't show that part because we started so early we had to do it in the dark! ❤️
Y’all are such badasses. Amazing! Thanks for another epic video!🌈💓☮️⛰✨
Aw thanks so much Terra! Epic is definitely how we would describe Maroon Peak. It felt crazy to be on top of a peak that we’d been gazing in awe at from below for so many years!
Wow! Another incredible video, congrats! Enjoy watching it as always!
Had to wipe my palms off several times while watching. Epic hike! And CO is so green :)
Thanks Matt -- glad we could bring you a bit of vicarious anxiety! We were sweating a bit too -- especially coming down those loose-rock gullies. It really is green and beautiful there. Definitely the upside of those damnable afternoon thunderstorms!
Wow!..congrats you two!... Thank you!❤
Thanks very much! Glad you saw this one, because it's an all time favorite and we sometimes go back and watch it ourselves just because it brings back such great memories of the beauty up there! ❤️
Incredible climb, scenics and music. Going high gets you high.
Definitely one of our all-time favorite summits -- the views from up there are just nuts!
you two are awesome. I love your videos. beautiful landscapes. keep hiking!
Well done!
Oh yea, my poles got chewed up too.
@@LiveHardxLoveHard you are made for each other! Your viewers can see the chemistry between the two of you! Love watching you two ❤
Well now you’re just making us feel all warm and fuzzy inside 😂 thanks so much Elisa, we wish we could give you a big hug!
Pretty awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Really? That's so cool that your girls watch. Please say hi for us, and tell them we hope to see them out on the trails!
Cuuuuute marmot 🥰 love this name for you elise! That trail looked so difficult to find! You guys are awesomeee!!!!
Haha ya marmots are cute but also a lot of trouble -- just like Elise!😂 The trail on that last part really was hard to find and we ultimately just picked our own way in some places, but totally worth the effort! ❤️--A
Wowoie!!! Loved it!! Thanks for sharing this wonderful piece of nature!!
You two are Awesome! Fantastic video and I wish the both of you the Best - Be Safe Always-Tracy Fisher lifetime Manitou resident - great great video
Thanks Tracy! So glad you enjoyed, and looking forward to making lots more CO videos because we're planning on spending a whole month or more right near you in the CO Springs area next summer!! ❤️
Super adventure!! Just beautiful!🙌
The Maroon Bells is hands down one of the most beautiful places in the world, and being on top of them? Life could not get any sweeter. So happy we got to share that moment with you ❤️
you guys are one hell of a team together. I love your videos!
Thank you so much! We're delighted you're enjoying the videos, and stay tuned -- lots more cool adventures coming up!
That was awesome thank you guys!!
Our pleasure, Rumaldo! Very glad you enjoyed -- this was one of our favorite adventures ever! ❤
Absolutely amazing as usual - You guys are great to watch & listen to..
Thanks Mark! Very glad you liked this one -- it's really one of our all-time favorites, both as a climb and as a video because it actually shows the steepness!
Can't wait to see your channel grow and grow ! Pushing boundaries!! Love
You guys continue to be badass!! 💪🏼🔥 very dicey edges… dunno what training you guys do for this but damn… be safe always in your future adventures.
Fantastic video, I would agree, one of the most beautiful summits!!!
Great video!
A lot of that looked very class 4, super chossy too… But camera’s make the angles look crazy, looks fun!
Definitely enough exposure to keep our attention the whole way though… our kinda fun!
amazing views, we are so lucky , thanks for showing us
WE feel like the lucky ones that you guys want to come along with us on these adventures! Seriously makes it infinitely more fun out there knowing you’re going to be experiencing all the joys, tears and triumphs right along with us!
11:35. What a sweet moment ❤️Beautiful climb, beautiful people, and another amazing video!.
That was spectacular!!! The descent looked dicier than the ascent - it least you didn’t have to find the route.
You are exactly right on both counts. The descent was way scarier and dicier, but we had absolutely no problem with route finding because the cairns were so easy to see from above. But going down those chutes? Whoa.
lived in Aspen 10 years, did that hike many times. back in the 80's, quite a few people died there...you guys made it look pretty easy! great job.
Yeah, parts of this climb look like what i call, slip & dip!!! One errant foot placement and it could be game over. Stay safe guys.
We will Tim -- thank you. No dipping (hopefully) for us!
@@LiveHardxLoveHard YW...and yeah, definitely NO dipping! lol
finally in the Rockies eh? I love the Sierras but I am glad you guys branching out!
Yes Jonathan! We love CO, but it’s just so far from LA that it’s hard to get out there very often with work. But we do plan to make it a regular part of our rotation, because there’s at least a dozen CO peaks that we’re dying to climb!
Going down is always more difficult. So this is totally crazy climbing!
Yes the down was more difficult for sure! But one nice thing was at least we didn't get off route on the way down from the summit because we could see the cairns from above, whereas when we were climbing up we often couldn't see them from below and got off the preferred route. ❤️
I always like the video, before watching it because I know it will always be awesome!! Love going on these adventures with you two!!
Thank you so much -- what a nice compliment!! It's really a privilege to be able to take you on these adventures, and we're so glad you're enjoying them. Setting out on an epic one tomorrow, so we're keeping them coming!
AMAZING BEAUTIFUL CLIMB AND VIDEO YOU 2 ARE A WONDERFUL INSPIRATION
Thanks Gustav! This one was truly an all-time favorite: sketchy climbing, high altitude, and incredible views -- that's all we can ask for! ❤️
WOW! Great shots. Incredible.
Those marmots always pop up when you least expect em.
😎👍
Another outstanding adventure. Fantastic effort you guys, holy cow!!
Thanks Todd! This one was immediately one of our all-time favorites -- just the steepness, the technical challenges, and the non-stop beauty combined to make it an incredible day that we won't soon forget.
Well done Adam & Elise on the adventure, ridge lines & me don't go well, so top marks to both of you 👍🏃
Aw thank you so much! You get some pretty awesome adventure in yourself, so at least the trails great you well! Hope you’re feeling great 😊
Great job you two! Beautiful!
