      I think you are amazing! But I do agree, we can’t do it all-at least all at the same time. First, we have to learn that we have to take care of ourselves in order to take care of others and all the hats we wear as stay-at-home moms. I so appreciate that you protect your children’s privacy. I look forward to seeing some baby toes-nothing as sweet as baby feet and toes! Enjoy Passover and many blessings to you and your family!

    Great advice on “you can’t do it all”!! So many people try to tell moms they can be great at everything all the time! But it is so reassuring to hear you say you have to pick and choose. I’m like you in that I may do a lot in one area and then can’t do so much in the other areas that day. Not enough energy!! 🤪 Above all, I think the mom’s attitude is the most important thing to work on. Who cares if the house is spotless and have fancy meals if mom is angry, fussing, and yelling all the time? Mom life ain’t no joke! Hardest thing I’ve ever done! But it seems like you are doing a great job! 🥰

    Hi! Religious Jewish girl here! Concerning the modest wardrobe question I have a few tips as well: 1. I never felt comfortable wearing shells under my tops because I don’t like how tight they are or how they look on me, so an easy alternative is to wear turtlenecks, especially in the winter months.
    2. I personally don’t like how a lot of Jewish clothing stores design their modest dresses, because I feel that they’re too mature for me or too formal, so another option is to shop on Muslim women’s sites or stores. They have similar rules in terms of modesty, and it’s a way to connect the two communities 🥰. There’s a lot of “fashion inspo” posts for Muslim women that can also be fun for Jews to explore! Finally 3. This one is obviously not accessible to everyone but if you have a trip planned to Israel, consider shopping for clothes there. There are so many modest and cute little stores, especially in Jerusalem because the population there is generally more religious. Of course at the end of the day, you can find your own pieces at stores near you, it can sometimes just take a little digging. Hope this helps! ❤️

      @jaroffireflies  2 роки тому +6

    Thank you for explaining the dishwasher situation. I am in my late 70s but one of my childhood memories is of a school friend who was Jewish. Her mother's kitchen fascinated me. Two dishwashers, two fridges and two ovens. This was late 50s, early 60s in Atlanta. Her mother always wore wigs except in the summer time when she wore scarfs. Pre air-conditioning. As I got older I began to understand more about the Jewish religion. However, until I started watching you, I never really understood the dietary laws that required the separate appliances, separate plates silverware, etc. Still learning at my age.

    Hi Chana! you are looking Great Boruch Hashem! Just wanna add for the viewers, in Judaism,we are always learning. I was brought up in a religious home, went to Day school, and I am still learning new things. Last night we had a shiur(class) ( on zoom) from Rabbi Zev Leff from Moshav Matityahu, near Modiin.,Israel. He spoke for over an hour (in English) on Hilchot Pesach. All things we know but we always need to go over, and study. Sometimes what we did in our parents home is not what we do in our own home. Always learning! My husband and I do have the same Rabbi as we live in a community in Israel with the rabbi leading our shul, But there can be families who will seek advice from their different Rabbi's. About the healthcare in Israel, Like you said, it's not free here. It might be cheaper than in the states but we still pay monthly.

    Good morning Chana. I loved the video. I always learn something new during the Q&A. I'm so happy that your morning sickness is gone!! My poor niece is 8 weeks along and is sooo sick that she had to go to the hospital for an IV due to dehydration. She is saying that this baby is going to be an only child 😂. I'm sure once she sees him/her for the first time, all of that will be forgotten. Have a great week and I'll see you Thursday

    Thank-you for always respecting your family's privacy and security. I like when I see helping hands and feet splashing in puddles. I think the snood is the coolest hair covering. I shaved my head years ago and wear a hat to keep my head warm ( non-jew). Please, will you tell me the name of the book you showed with the commentary and bi-lingual scriptures?

    It's great to hear of another mom who does not like Disney or similar theme parks. I've visited Disneyland Paris and it was a nightmare. I don't enjoy waiting in lines. I also think the parks push to much merchandise & junk food. I did not want my daughter to set a goal of being a princess. I wanted her to set higher standards for herself, and she has. There are so many great museums (The Natural history museum is a favourite), Galleries and places to visit. All can be great fun. I've taken her to Harry Potter exploration parks, because she was a fan from the 1st book. We've also visited wonderful countries together. I fully support your decision to not film your children. They can't give informed consent and exposure could cause issues at School. Looking forward to baby arriving safely.

      I live in the states. I am proud to say I nor my children (one went as an adult). But the princess thing . After my (at the time) 4yo girl fell in love with Ariel, the little mermaid. I decided to make a conscious effort to live a Disney-free life. The idea that she would want to emulate a woman who had everything to give it away, in the HOPES of finding a man. Ugh! her worthy ness was based on the attainment of a man, again ugh!
      She did grow up with great values and morals and she is a VP of a very well known company. AND I have a wonderful SIL and 2 blessed grandsons

    Definitely do something for your anniversary! We’re going on a cruise in September for our 10th. Which is probably not feasible for you with a baby but you should plan something special for the 2 of you. My twins will be about 2.5 and my mother lives in our granny flat so she just has to sleep in our half of the house and adjust her routine while we’re gone

    I was a teenager in High School when the clocks were ordered to " Spring Forward" - here's Wiki excerpt ...." Grasping for solutions, lawmakers made daylight saving time permanent from January 1974 until October 1975. Clocks would “spring forward” and not “fall back” for almost two years. The thinking was that fuel consumption would go down as Americans used the extra evening sunshine for heat and light. President Richard M.".... We hated it, Parents hated it, all the kids were walking in the dark to school or to their bus stop, it was a mess and changed it back, now only Hawaii, most of Arizona, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and American Samoa (U.S. Territories) do not have DST- Have a Happy Day Chana!

    You have never mentioned this to my knowledge so I don't know if you are aware of a site called PJ's library. I learned of this from another Orthodox Mom's site. All families who are raising Orthodox Jewish children can sign up each child and then monthly each child will receive an age-appropriate book on Jewish life, customs, teachings etc. I looked over this site and felt it was a wonderful opportunity for Jewish families On a side note...What was your major in college? Art teacher, English lit, or PE are my guesses (feel free to laugh here)

    Today is our 30th wedding anniversary and no plans. My husband used to plan things, but I am like you. It is not that the date is unimportant but I am not great at those things. I am still crazy about him after all these years and I tell him so every day. To me that is more important than a once a year celebration.

    My amazing obstetrician was Orthodox and I remember with my first pregnancy I asked her what happens if I go into labor on Shabbat, (like would there only be a skeleton crew available in labor and delivery, I didn’t want to be delivered by mo larry and curly), and she laughed and explained that either she or her colleague would be on call as normal. My first baby was transverse so we ended up with a planned c section so it ended up being a moot point. I am Catholic and both I and my daughter enjoy your channel and your spirit of love and joy and hard work.

    Very interesting video!
    I just wanted to add that, usually, the official Ba'al Koreh reads the Torah publicly. However, any Congregant that is called to the Torah can read his portion, as long as he is able to read it with no mistakes, and with the proper trope. Same for the Haftarah portion of the week.

      @@jaroffireflies As a matter of fact, the Congregants are called to READ from the Torah. Depending on the Congregation, very few of them are actually prepared for a correct public reading, and the Ba'al Koreh has to take over.
