    Who here loves historically inspired designs? I have a couple more planned, but next I think is my Apocalypse Mask video.

      @@RavenAttwoode I think there's a picture of it in the community tab or on my facebook. But it's completed and released on Patreon this month, but it'll be the next one I do a video for here. Hopefully for Tuesday release.

      @George W. McClintock Me too have been asking/suggesting for awhile but I never seen to get any support from anyone else - I think it would make a great series.

    Can’t believe I just found your channel. As a Norse/Celtic design leather crafter it was a lonely world for a while in the midst of the popular western style. I seem to be finding more and more artist who focus on period Norse art.

    Love your work! I tried several ways to burnish my edges. I ended up with sanding the edge slightly, dampen it with water, then i wrap a piece of linen drop cloth ( bought a painters drop cloth at habor freight for 6$ and cut it up) around my wood slicker, burnish the edge and at last i apply bees wax and polish it again. The best edges i ever had. Also i dont use edge paint anymore i just dye the edge with dye in the color i want and then burnish.

    I LOVE historically inspired leather stuffs. And really diggin this pouch! Just a few tips though, for the tokonole. If you've ever used gum trag, just treat it the same way. Takes very little, which is good cause tokonole isn't cheap, and you can just dip your finger in the jar or use the precision needle tip bottles that are popular for vaping. You can also use japanese edge applicators that have a built in sponge, or refillable markers, though you may have to dilute it a bit.

    You'd fall in love with Apsulov: End Of Gods. A future viking horror game the dev's put a lot of love in it, a personal favourite part of the game is the art design. If you can't get your hands on the game I suggest watching John Wolfe's LP, hope you enjoy it.

    Really sharp looking!
    I've made a test one of these from linen with a wooden handle. I think one of the more useful design features I've seen for some of these is a pleated or bellows side so that it's actually big enough to stick your hand in.

    Are you sure the closure bars are leather? That shape looks like it'd be made from wood.

    • @DarkHorseWorkshop
      @DarkHorseWorkshop  3 роки тому

      Historically there was no remaining evidence of what this pouch had at the top. I think people guessed it could be similair to a hedeby bag, which has a wood or bone closure up top. I did leather because I wanted it to be easy for people with just leather skills to do. If Iw as to do one again I'd do bone or wood.

    For few years i had a green webbing bag. It served me well and still does but i've been thinking about something new, made of leather. could you make a video about making bigger bags with stronger belts?

    Wondering if the top bits were originally made from wood? I like the thick leather though... Cant wait for the other version!

    • @DarkHorseWorkshop
      @DarkHorseWorkshop  4 роки тому

      There's lots that show wood, some leather, hard to say the actual historical sketch of what was found is fairly rough and it may not even be how it actually went together. I'll be doing a v2 of a different design soon.

    Have you ever just made your own wild ridiculous pattern thinking that you know it could be in the Viking style but then it turns out something different yeah oops I did that turned out okay turned out good but people had a lot of frowning Expressions on their face when they seen it I like what you're doing that I'm going to try

    8:30 are you avoiding putting resolene on the painted parts?

  • @freetaylor72
    @freetaylor72 4 роки тому

    Hey, what's the difference in the resolene and the resist

    • @DarkHorseWorkshop
      @DarkHorseWorkshop  4 роки тому +1

      Rarely is something just called a resislt. Where a resolene is a resist and a finish. It puts a finish on to protect the project, and in doing so is also used as a resist. A resist so you can stain it and wipe off the excess without changing the color of your project. Generally just getting into the cracks / cuts etc.
