I was in rehab after my brain tumor was removed so I can relate to was he was telling about rehab centers and hospitals. Which at least in Los Angeles they treat you great with great service and even vegetarian food (I have been vegetarian since 1994).

1:15 my son who is 11 now had a mole on his forehead removed when he was 18 months old. He was so sedated that he started to tell all the nurses "I love you". The nurses were almost in tears to see this cute kid telling them "I love you".
When I had my teeth pulled at 16-17. I was on the loopy drugs and I told everyone I loved them. I told one nurse she deserved better. And I begged my mom for a chocolate milkshake.

The Nurses mean the intensity of the pain is similar to contraction pain. Both involve smooth muscles in addition to the internal organs contracting. But when a man is laying there yelling he doesn't want the details of anatomy! Kidney stones hurt sooo much because all your back and abdominal muscles join in the spamming contractions of your ureter trying to pass "a basketball through a straw". All that contacting makes it harder to pass it. I have birthed 7 stones in my life, and in w023 I know three are laying quietly in my kidney waiting to attack! I've also been a Nurse for over 40yrs, and thought initially people were overracting to stones, till I had my first one!
And you are awake when they pull it out LOL!!!! My cousin has had one, my Dad had to have them every 6 weeks (bad prostate surgery, he had colon cancer....they think that had something to do with it) and then Dad had a “pee bag” as he called it. And we could SEE the stones!!!!!!! Personally, I just pass them. They figure I have them like Dad. LOL well, I know what they look like!!!!! I feel bad for guys!!!! I had a child almost 10lbs, 26”, shoulders wider then his head, NO epidural-I can handle little stones 😉 at least that’s the joke in the family LOL but I feel really bad for guys!!!!!
my wife said the same thing. Our first child ripped her to where the asshole and vagina was basically one giant gash, and this was 20 years ago. She had a kidney stone about 3 years ago and her exact words to this day are "I will fight any of these dumb bitches that thing childbirth is the most painful thing a woman can go through"
My mema had told my daddy she rather have a BBY go through labor than to have a kidney stone. I've a multi gall stones at one time. So many till after they took my gall bladder out I had to be transferred to get the rest. I never wished that on no one....
I just went through the entire kidney stone ordeal myself. Bill is extremely accurate about it. The worst pain I have ever endured was when the stent was removed.

this happenned to me when i was 17... 30 years ago...no one has ever talked about these things.. not in my whole life...thanks so much... my story is about 10x times worse...maybe 10x times funnier if you were telling it...bless you..a 1000 nurses and doctors would come in my room in the middle of the night to show the others.. i was in a rodeo horse accident and could hardly move...i just pulled the sheets over my head and cried...thanks so much for taking the pains away from others

This sounds EXACTLY like what happened to me..several days in hospital until urethra stopped bleeding They did not use a laser, they put me out, into a water bath and sound waves to crush the stone.
I have felt the agonizing pain of a raging infection from gall bladder stones, one that almost killed me. I never cry and the pain of it brought me to tears. I don’t even want to imagine what a kidney stone or giving birth feels like.
I severely injured my back at work. Since then I passed about 50 of these things... Passing one now... I've had them blasted, they went up there 3 or 4 times and stints..mess.. Most I just pass on my own..without pain meds.. Just water and exercise... It's kind of a horror show if you can't pass them.. My doctor tells me... when your this young they hurt twice as bad.. Thanks doc.. Pulling the stint out sounds bad, but it would probably be the nicest part of the experience ... For me it's when the blood is forced back into the kidney causing swelling on top of the ureter pain.. The trip through the ureter is where the pain is at.. When I first got one .. I had just lost about everything after my work accident.. I was broke.. with severe back pain.. They said if the stone is over 6mm they will do something.. My first was 5.9.... It took 8 months of on and off, mostly on, pain to pass it. 3 or 4 ER trips... Where my normal blood pressure 130 turned to about 200 or more....from pain.. I guessing extra money helps, but nothing really makes them pleasant.. This story reminds me of of the NEXT... 5.9 mm stone I had... It's 5.9mm not 6mm .. sorry bout your luck... Ok....so.. Your ureter is anywhere from 2 to 3 mm wide... So I got a ruler out and drew a 2 and 3 mm ureter and the drew a 5.9 mm kidney stone... A couple. One square. One star shaped.. In a comparative matter on this notepad and took it with me.. I went to every urologist in the state . One that claimed Best in nation... I had a list of questions... I never got past the first question. How did you come up with an average size for a ureter...? Was it by height, over all body mass.. or a combination of both? Could you have a smaller ureter? and what data did you use to come up with these averages? If you have the 2 mm or slightly smaller diameter ureter, does this change the size of what could be passed in correlation to the size difference? Let me tell you.. 1 mm might as well be a foot in ..kidney stone language.. Considering it was a .01 difference between me getting help at 6mm or not..at 5.9 and months more debilitating pain... How can it not? 50 kidney stones later. Many doctor trips... Still never got a clear attempt at an answer ... other than uh... It depends... Translation ... they don't care unless you got the cash 💯 . I'm not sure if a small urethra is what Bill meant or small ureter... If he mistakingly meant ureter.. I would like to know.... Been looking for that answer for almost 20 yrs now.. Only thing I know is it has absolutely 1000% nothing to do with compassion of any kind, or overall health... When they are chronicly coming, for obvious reasons.. it can be bad for kidney health... It's widely known as the top worst pain there is.. In waiting rooms I had 10 or more women tell me they would have 5 more kids without meds than have one more 5 mm stone... Still somehow I find a way to laugh.. This is a great story. 😆 Foxworthy's bit on this is still #1 Sorry... " A porcupine walking backwards through a garden hose" That's about right.. 'Stabbing yourself in the head to get back to the hospital bed.." Spot on.. and hilarious... I've got a few stories myself.. Well it hurts to laugh right now 🙃 but still funny... Thanks... I think... If anyone reads this and has an answer .. Would love to hear it...

I've had kidney stones and they hurt like hell. My Dr. even told me he's had pregnant women say that giving birth wasn't as painful.

I have felt the agonizing pain of a raging infection from gall bladder stones, one that almost killed me. I never cry and the pain of it brought me to tears. I don’t even want to imagine what a kidney stone or giving birth feels like.

I severely injured my back at work.
Since then I passed about 50 of these things...
Passing one now...
I've had them blasted, they went up there 3 or 4 times and stints..mess..
Most I just pass on my own..without pain meds..
Just
water and exercise...
It's kind of a horror show if you can't pass them..
My doctor tells me... when your this young they hurt twice as bad..

Pulling the stint out sounds bad, but it would probably be the nicest part of the experience ...
For me it's when the blood is forced back into the kidney causing swelling on top of the ureter pain..
The trip through the ureter is where the pain is at..
When I first got one .. I had just lost about everything after my work accident..
I was broke.. with severe back pain..
They said if the stone is over 6mm they will do something..
My first was 5.9....
It took 8 months of on and off, mostly on, pain to pass it.
3 or 4 ER trips...
Where my normal blood pressure 130 turned to about 200 or more....from pain..
I guessing extra money helps, but nothing really makes them pleasant..
This story reminds me of of the NEXT... 5.9 mm stone I had...
It's 5.9mm not 6mm .. sorry bout your luck...
Ok....so..
Your ureter is anywhere from 2 to 3 mm wide...
So I got a ruler out and drew a 2 and 3 mm ureter and the drew a 5.9 mm kidney stone...
A couple. One square. One star shaped..
In a comparative matter on this notepad and took it with me..
I went to every urologist in the state . One that claimed Best in nation...
I had a list of questions...
I never got past the first question.
How did you come up with an average size for a ureter...?
Was it by height, over all body mass.. or a combination of both?
Could you have a smaller ureter? and what data did you use to come up with these averages?
If you have the 2 mm or slightly smaller diameter ureter, does this change the size of what could be passed in correlation to the size difference?
Let me tell you.. 1 mm might as well be a foot in ..kidney stone language..
Considering it was a .01 difference between me getting help at 6mm or not..at 5.9 and months more debilitating pain...
How can it not?

Only thing I know is it has absolutely 1000% nothing to do with compassion of any kind, or overall health...
When they are chronicly coming, for obvious reasons.. it can be bad for kidney health...
It's widely known as the top worst pain there is..
In waiting rooms I had 10 or more women tell me they would have 5 more kids without meds than have one more 5 mm stone...
Still somehow I find a way to laugh..
