When I first saw Justin's channel I wrote him down as a douche canoe but after seeing 30 videos/interviews he really seems like what we used to call a "muso". A "muso" is someone who is OCD about what music they like or dislike and they NEVER shut up about it, especially name-dropping and song dropping. FYI: I saw Deicide with the Hoffman's when they were still wearing the GWAR spiked armor suits. I saw Glenn Benton 25 years later and gave him the pictures. CARNAGE IN THE TEMPLE OF THE DAMNED is my fav. song by Deicide.
In total disbelief that you didn’t say you are into the Corpse Molestation demo!! That was the pinnacle of death metal demos in Australia!!! Crushing and sick!
Gorements Ending Quest is up there in my top Swedish death metal albums.

@@goat666db They only had 2 full-lengths. Where Angels Die and Witches of Dathomir, which are both just about equally excellent. Early demos and EP are worth exploring as well. I haven't listened to any of the material they've done post-Witches (1999), so I've got some checking out to do myself.

I figured a newer fan would start with the classics that a band released and not newer stuff anyway. If someone asked me about Suffocation I would tell them to start with Effigy not something like Blood Oath or the latest stuff.

Sadistik Exekution really does take a bit to get into, but once it clicks, oh man, it's fucking amazing. Especially "We Are Death...Fukk You!" I know that damn beast of an album backward and forward, at this point. But yeah, at first, I was like, "what the fuck is even going on here?" And Dave Slave is one of the best bassists I've ever heard. Australia as a whole has/had some great bands overall. It's always dirty, raw, aggressive. The Aussies do have their own unique sound, in my opinion.
Yeah, what happened to ball busting in the scene? A guy flipped out on my buddy for saying something was "gay." He wasn't even referring to a person. What happened to the scene in general? Over the last 10 years I've disassociated myself from it (the scene, not the music). Especially here in New England. It's just lunatic liberal central around here. "Think like us, or you're a Nazi." Back when I got into this, no one really gave a shit if someone was right, left, apolitical, whatever. That's kind of why I want to see metal go way back underground. Just weed all these people out.
Looking forward to seeing CC this Friday! Mayhem is playing too, but who knows what songs they're going to play.

I prefer Corpse Molestation to Bestial Warlust. They’re just nastier, more raw and more energy. I should mention Disembowelment because I fucking love them. Not the Dawg’s preferred style but I love that style of doom. Them, Evoken and Thergothon are all classic bands with a similar style. Love that kind of stuff.

Newer listeners of extreme underground metal often experience the difficulty of " how far do I need to go back to be cool?"
Answer: Don't listen to gatekeepers who tell you what's good or what's not. If you search with diligence, you'll find, eventually, the perfect extreme metal genres which will cradle your eardrums and deicide your brain in the most perfect way. And then you support your favorite acts by BUYING records! BUYING tapes! BUYING the T-shirts and GOING TO THE CONCERTS!!! I just can't explain or emphasise how important it is to support the SCENE.
The guitarist of Desultory "Johan Bohlin" is still active and plays in a Melodic Death/Black Metal band "Unanimated" and their latest album "Victory in Blood" has respectable tuneskis, so you can't call that guy a poser and not to mention, the fucking band has Richard Cabeza of Dismember on bass, and you are definitely one to call out "out of the loop geezers" BRAH BRAH.
Not mad btw, just calling out bullshit when I see it. Just cause I disagree with ya doesn't mean I'll stop watching, dislike the video or fuckin' cancel you over it ;)
unanimated is one of the best bands in existence bar none.
Unanimated have to be one of the ultimate bands whose hard to keep in mind, primarily because they take such lllllllong breaks in between each album.
But yeah their albums are great. Haven't jammed Victory in Blood just yet, didn't know it existed. Thanks for the heads up.👍

I hung out with Damon from Bestial Warlust in L.A. one night when my friends band was playing a show at the 5 star bar, great dude. I brought up Armoured Angel actually and he was surprised I was familiar with them.
Therion were making consistent albums till 2008, not sure what makes them posers, just because they came up with a new distinct and unique sound after the first 3 death metal albums.

Yes, it was a lot of these bands jumping on that death n roll trend. The same as thrash metal, when a lot of bands were going to do the next Black album. Gorefest were another band doing the same as Desultory. Starting out with death metal on mindloss and false. Starting to be a little bit meldic on Erase. An then a bunch of death n roll released. And some years later did some pretty great death metal comeback albums

Considering their previous LP was the iconic Clandestine, I always saw wolverines blues as one of the biggest crimes ever perpetrated in the Metal scene and Entombed haven't course corrected yet - 29 years after committing said crime.🤦♂

Had to drop off the Cannibal Corpse show at $66.00 a ticket I get why the ticket is so expensive so hopefully Mayhem bores the crowd so bad so that they just call it a day.

Check tickets again at least in Minneapolis. Originally they were $60 now tickets are $37… that’s not bad for the Corpse… and if you like Gorguts(probably don’t).

Nice mention of Slaughter Lord-I think not the first; one of the best, really. Other bands have tried to be as frantic but can't as far as I know. I'm pretty conservative when it comes to bands: I only listen to about 20 - 30 I suppose. Know most of these only by name.

Therion got better and improved, they definitely didn't sell out, who else was playing music like Therion back in the late 90s.. No one really, they had a unique sound starting with their ''Theli'' album, how is that selling out, just cuz they dropped the death metal sound.
Cannibal Corpse really needs to do what Metallica and/or NOFX are doing at this point (say what you will about those bands but they got the right idea IMO). Come to a city, but play 2 different sets over 2 nights and have no songs overlap. They have the back catalog AND the work ethic to do it.
Do you know what know 1 ever talks about... Is the first Nofx iberal animation.. I heard that well over 20 years though. It's awesome, but all their other stuff is garbage.
That's the best take I've heard on Cannibal yet, cause that way the first night they can get all the people who wanna see Hammer Smashed Face for the 435th time out of the way and play some real tuneskis on Saturday instead.

I like the but the Slent are much better, but I really like their demos. Maybe I should listen to them again but I always thought the Slent had better riffs. Madame Guillotine and Christian Slaughter are great songs.

13:09 when I saw them they did not play any song from Butchered At Birth I know them well enough (their music) and the songs they played some of them I would have been ok if they did not play them songs like code of the slashers, kill or become, and a skull full of maggots
from the Kill album they played Time to Kill is Now, sadly it was the only one from that album that got played Make Them Suffer, and Murder Worship would have been better
