When i saw Courtney relaxing near Captain Paul @22:44 I had this 'Mom and Dad are driving the boat'-kinda feeling :D. Mom and Dad are relaxed so everything is going smoothly!
I congratulate all of you, for giving others a real sense of what operating a motor yacht and chartering same involves. Most people think that it's all "fun and glamour", without realizing how much work is involved; the logistics, regulations, operating expenses, liability, legalities... and so forth. Stay Safe. Keep up the good work.
Mam "O" man that's a "HUGE" amount of supplies ( Food) coming on the stern deck. Lots of organizing. Great job by the crew for so many boxes, that tender is such a great support vessel for getting food on board before the guest arrive 😊 It reminds me of large Navy vessels resupply at sea from the Logistics ships that are in my Humble opinion the backbone of Navy fleet resupply 😊
Don't forget, Loon has 19 crew. Add 10-15 passengers and you're looking at feeding 30+ people for a while. Also, quite a lot of the stuff they're getting is fairly bulky (at least the packaging is) to avoid damaging it in transit...
Excellent camera work Steve. Yeah that red sand dust/volcanic dust what ever is a nuisance. And it isn't just the boats that have to deal with it. The hotels, restaurants, cafes airports. That's the price you've got to pay to be in the Med. Yes you lucked out on the weather. Looking forward to next video cheers. Nina and Judy are going to make a great pair in the Galley. Looking forward to next weeks video
Hi Jonathan, we always look forward to your comment. Yes the red Saharan dust is the WORST! It’s great to have Nina back onboard and Judy is settling in well. See you next week 🛥️😎
22:45 It's good that the entire crew (well, more than just the deckhands anyway) stand bridge watches on Loon, quite a few yachts exclude the hotel staff from the seamanship side of operations and that's not how they learn. Having the hotel staff learn the basics of seamanship makes for a well-rounded crew who can fill a variety of roles in a pinch. In this case, it meant more hands available for the second, unexpected washdown.
I love your content. Especially when you guys are covering things from the bridge and discussing operations, engineering and navigation. Incredibly interesting. Had a chance to crew a yacht a long time ago based out of South Florida but passed on the opportunity. This channel fills that void for me. Thank you guys for all your content. It's fantastic.
Lovely voyage, as you potter pass Italy. To Croatia ..... Love you coming here its a lovely country great scenery. You all seen to to love coing here. Great behind the scenes look, hope you win the war against the red rain.
You guys were a few days ahead of us, and boy was it HOT! Love the videos. Most don’t know that ‘red rain’ is dust carried from a wind storm from the Sahara and then mixed with rain over the Mediterranean.
I love how Paul proclaimed the trip had been "spoiled by the dolphins" - as in, those pesky dolphins are always ruining things. Reminds me a bit of the book called Eats, Shoots & Leaves. Of course, what Paul meant to say was that they were "spoiled with a lovely display from the dolphins" - ha!
Thank you for doing a real LARGE charter vessel 😊❤😊 leaving Port YOU my Captain friend talked about WIND issues on especially enter of port with small opening for a vessel of your size. When you are talking in the pilot house I love how you keep ( Engine reading) on the Big screen in front of you at the helm. I am a nerd about watching and listening to my small (5.7-350 ) GM block with Volvo out-drive. I have had plenty of very close calls on entry to marine and docking. I had a Captain like you do a class, with my small boat with me and wife. Man I love your videos, keep it up, you teach and show the real thing. You are the real deal "NO" the TV bull crap, let's get higher ratings with crew just bad mouthing charter guests, and cook always melting down over a special dinner the guest want The TV show below decks makes the high end chartering look so bad. Your video changes that. Thank you again for sharing your cruising between ports in a wonderful location far, far away from me.
The 'behind the scenes' of the live stream is nice addition of footage. Good idea I was there at live stream too. The videos in general are much better now! For me I'd like to know / be in the engine room when there is some undocking movement. So you hear the engines rev up and working.
Capt Paul that goggle tan line you got from ur sunglasses is SUPERB!!! lolol you need to keep them sunglasses off for a solid WEEK at least to counter that imbalance xDDD

Hello Loon crew and captain, love you your videos and your navigation; when you are coming to Marina Casa de Campo Dominican Republic? I’m yacht captain in here in DR.

If you get the chance could you explain the graphics in the monitor at about 24:48? I was trying to figure out the speed but could not. Landlubber with vertigo, so no boats for me......
In the right side panel top area you see SOG 12,6 kn that would be the speed over ground, in knots, from the GPS. With that speed they are covering 12,6 nautical miles in one hour. Then there is STW 13,50 kn, which is speed through water. This speed comes from the ship's own log. Since the STW is higher than the SOG, it suggests that they are going against a 0,9 knot current or against the wind and waves (given that the STW is accurately calibrated).
Very informative video, loved the real time chart info! Questions, does the boat perform better full of fuel or would you run the boat lighter to save fuel and improve buoyancy during a 500 mile passage? Is fuel more expensive in Croatia? Provisions harder to source? So happy Nina is back!
Fuel is cheaper in Croatia so this trip we were relatively light as we refueled after the charter. However we usually like to stay heavy especially in the Caribbean to increase stability at anchor.
Interesting. I watched Nina first and when she left the other yacht and ended up on Loon, I started watching it. It has MTU S4000 main engines and I retired from MTU in 2015 so that was a bonus
Hey Terry, Take is extra.. every cupboard and door has a lock but they sometimes fail especially when rough so a little blue tape is just extra insurance
stupid question...what is the purpose of the extendable mast on the bow?? I can see its use while at anchor for the flag but why extended while underway??..
Its because the vessel is longer than 50 meters. And then you need to have that thing because you can see it in the night. And with that thing you can see which direction it is facing at
