I received my Model Y with white intetior 2 months ago and immediately started noticing the wrinkles on the side of the seats, sadly enough. Thanks for the cleaning tips! 🎉
Great follow up video Ryan ! Love the beetroot test! That should be included in every motoring review I reckon. 😉 I saw your first one and ordered my M3LR with white. No regrets. When it arrived on a truck the driver who unloaded it was wearing greasy overalls and left big smudges of black grease all over the drivers seat. I freaked out and was going to complain to Tesla. But when I got it home I tried the microfibre trick and with just a few wipes the grease was gone! It’s easier to clean than most other cars I’ve owned. Keep up the great videos!
I love your updated videos Ryan! This video will be substantial for the grandparents! When you are at our stage with them looking at buying a Tesla, and the possible refreshes, and the new interior trim for the Model Y. It’s really confusing, they are not announcing when or if it’s coming to Australia, so we have no idea weather to wait, or buy. Amazing video, hope bubbas going well!!
Thank you mate !! And yes, it would be SO NICE to have some more clarity on refreshed Model Y. It's still only showing on China page, but hopefully soon across APAC !
@@RyanCowan 100%, I am very controversial about some of Elons choices. Haha! And thanks for the accessory reviews throughout the videos mate! They will help me decide whether it’s a worth while purchase or not!
Reitterating what I told you almost a year ago: Get white mirofibere cloths to clean thhem seats. They will show you what comes off. I also impregniate / seal them regularly. Cudos to you for the beetroot lady routine.
Vincent Yu of Tesmania of X actually did similar test on white seat some years ago, he just poured some red wine and wiped it off, it’s also returned to its good condition.
I saw your previous video on the white seats and trusted you; so ordered a Model YLR with the white and will take delivery this week. Hope you're right!
White seats all the way 👍. We have 2021 M3LR and 2023 MYLR both with white seats. Looks great and easy to clean. We use Aldi baby wipes (lint free) . Agree that wood panelling with the black seats looks old school. Recently put a DIY ceramic coating on the seats on our 2 year old M3LR (but not really necessary). Which acts like a Teflon coat and would pass your beetroot test with ease. 😂. Always had black BMW seats in the past and they always looked tired after 2 years… but these white seats still look new.
1:29 Is that some yellowing on the side of the seat or is it just because of the lighting? Apart from that the white seats seem great considering I never wear jeans and that they'll remain cooler in the summer sun. P.S. I've been binge-watching your videos over the past few days. Looking forward to seeing more content!
My two big problems with the white interior on Tesla’s is one it hurts my eyes to look at and two I think the white panel on the dash/door looks tacky, I much prefer the wood look panel you get with the black interior
I’ve had great success using my Kärcher SC2 steam cleaner with the terry cloth over the brush attachment to clean the seats of my M3. Some people worry the steam and heat will damage the vegan leather. But, on the handle of the SC2, you have a switch for FULL or HALF steam pressure. And, as long as you keep the end of the tool moving back & forth and not holding it on the same spot, there is no risk of damage. Just have to immediately wipe the moisture off with a clean microfibre cloth as you go over each seat. As a bonus, especially if you have pets or kids in the car, the steam also sanitises. It would also recommend using a good quality leather conditioner after cleaning the seats. I find the Chemical Guys brand leather conditioner works great.
After 33000ks I'm getting a faint blue denim stain on the drivers bolster. Also the white trim across the dash was very glary in sunlight so I bought an Alcantara piece to cover it that matches the trim on the doors.
I'm still waiting for my first EV, MY with the black interior. I was a little afraid of the white too, for all the reasons you covered. Never mind, maybe next time 🤭
@@RyanCowan Haha, yeah. I'm getting a little impatient, it's been about 3 weeks so far and I've never had to wait for a vehicle order before. My last car I got 3 years ago I bought off the showroom floor.
Can you share the car seat cover you have under your child's car seat? It looks like it's protecting your seat and I would love to get something like it!
Great video Ryan hope the new family is well! Tesla vehicles + White seats = matches made in heaven and it’s how Tesla’s designers intend the design to be! IMO the black interior is dull and it takes away the uniqueness of a Tesla. Surprisingly easy to maintain!
this is a great video. i have been just cleaning with soapy water. i have another question. i am in Portarlington today. on plugshare i found EV Auoria charger, but there were no cables . now i see a charger in Drysdale hope i can charge thre , . How do you plan a trip
Great video! Very useful and convinced me to go with white. I’m curious whether the baby seat protector colour has bled or left any stains when you do a clean. I’m trying to find a good baby seat protector now. Any recommendations?
Nice ! Glad it was helpful. You honestly will LOVE the white interior. No signs of baby seat protector marking the seats. We got ours from energic.com.au and looks like Baby Bunting have exactly the same one.
A friend's white interior looked great for ages, until he started to clean it. The cleaned part made the rest look dirty. He had to clean the entire interior. His mum had white carpets and the same thing, looked surprisingly great until she cleaned one area more thoroughly. Hahaha Hahaha 😊😊😊😊
Gidday, you have sure swayed my view on the white, just a question but, how are the car seats [child seats] going on the interior back seats, any issues with the plastic child seat rubbing holes, marks or anything ? Seem a few people with one or more child seats installed and keen for your opinion.
Sorry just seen this comment now 😅 We put a seat protection cover down first. Fingers crossed when we take the baby seat out in a few years it's okay !
@@RyanCowan Although its not real leather and people say the quality isnt there. 1 it looks so much better. 2 so much eaiser to maintain the more family friendly.
OR ...... you can just get black seats and wear anything and wipe them off every 6 months. Not everyone wants the maintenance. A clean looking black seat will always look better than a marked white seat.
Every 6 months?! Ewwww bro… I get the passengers seats if you don’t lift people that often. But the driver seat should get a little wipe every time you clean the car. That’s where you ass checks rest on those hot summer days after all 😂

haha congrats !!! How exciting. you won't regret it 😉 (keep me updated!!)
1 year has passed. Are you satisfied?
@@rhcptr Yes. I've had no problem keeping the seats clean and not stained. I just use a mild soap and water solution. Easy.
And I LOVE the car!
My biggest concern would be discolouration of the stitching at a different rate to the seat material - or if you got beetroot on the stitching 😂

We have the Highland M3LR on order, we went with the larger alloys and black, but left the seats black due to the same fears you listed :D
The new Model 3 interior looks incredible ! Very excited for you and congrats on placing the order !

Tesla have started to update the dash across the lineup which is great.
Finally someone who spoke my mind! After test driving one.. While i like the white seats i feel it's too bright and that white panel makes it worse.

I can’t wait for the Model Y to be updated to reflect the Model 3 highland version!
White exterior and white interior would be my choice.

So true
I see some good comments on the performance of Tesla white seats. My friend loved his white seats.
How long did you leave the beetroots on for the test?
I have had my Y for 1 year and have 2 grubby kids eating in car. My seats still look like new. I wipe down once a week with water baby wipes
NICE ! 🙌 Love to hear this !
i have interior protection all over the seats and dash etc so wiping stuff off is very easy I recommend interior protection.

nice videos and car!
Thank you !
I wanted the white interior but my wife said ' You have a brown wife with brown makeup' :D ...we're going with the black
That is true but it is a great 🎉
25k kilometers is basically a new car. Any respectable interior will stay new even after 50k if the owner not a piggy.
You’d have to be out of your mind to buy the black interior if you have the money to upgrade to the white
Some people definitely prefer the black .. but we noticed in California how hot the seats got ☀
@@RyanCowan Although its not real leather and people say the quality isnt there. 1 it looks so much better. 2 so much eaiser to maintain the more family friendly.
We didn't get white to save money. Then we got white seat covers due to having a large dog and we don't have to worry about cleaning

@@RyanCowan very happy! If we ever sell the car we would just remove them and the seat will be brand new. As we put the covers on day 1.

Vegan leather? I don't understand why the word leather is used when it's not leather. Should just be called something else
Most people just assume it's leather because you can't really tell the difference, just not cow skin thankfully and much more sustainable too.
