- A married Irish couple who became viral social media sensations for all the wrong reasons have been jailed for a string of so-called 'dine and dash' crimes.
Ann and Bernard McDonagh lived the high-life eating slap-up meals in a series of top quality restaurants across Wales - before fleeing out the door without paying.
But the Co Mayo duo got their just deserts when CCTV footage was posted online by furious restaurant owners and they were traced by UK cops.
Niall talks to Eamon Dillon about the McDonaghs and how they will now be doing porridge in a Welsh jail.

Dine n dash is quite common in the states. Has been for decades. This sounds like more than a dine n dash.

I've done this myself in Indian restaurants a few times . When I was a teen early twenties after the pub we would often go to a curry house but after a while you would see the odd mate disappear as the meal ended. This set off a stampede because you didn't want to be the one captured for the whole bill. Was it funny for us ? When we were drunk it was hilarious but this is a terrible crime and really can have a devastating effect on those poor souls pulling their back out to keep us fed and watered ❤❤❤

I think you guys are being too lenient and the judge was completely bang on with his assessment and words for them - somebody needs to teach these people they don't live by different rules than the rest of us just because they choose not to. Imagine how many of these they actually got away with/were never reported. It's disgusting and a precedent needed to be set.
The official name for that crime is "bilking" I seem to recall.
In the UK " bilking " is filling up with petrol at the forecourt ..... and driving off without paying...
With this pair it should be called .... Bulking 🤣
@meichong8278 yes that's correct but running away from a restaurant without paying is the same offence.
