- It was the savage murder which brought home the reality of the horrors of gangland crime to the Irish public.
Anthony Campbell was a hard working 20 year old plumber when he was murdered by gunmen who feared leaving a witness to their execution of drugs trafficker Martin 'Marlo' Hyland.
The unsolved murders are the focus of a new six part serial podcast called "Caught In The Crossfire" from the Crime World team.
Niall talks to Nicola Tallant about why she chose to focus on these murders and her admiration for Anthony's mother Christine.

Some , at the time , said poor Anthony was at the wrong place at the wrong time. He wasn't ! He was out doing a decent , hard days work , doing what he was meant to be doing , when scum , the dregs of humanity , butchered him in cold blood. RIP Anthony.

It was a very sad thing. Was an apprentice myself back then and remember it well. A tragedy.
Poor chap he was so unlucky that day i was thinking to myself today if Antony Campbell's boss was in the house at the same time as the Hitman who arrived to take out Hyland would he also have been executed.

Both are dead now and can't be done for it but back 10 year ago even dogs on street in North dublin where saying it was the Don killed his boss and then he was killed 😢
The dogs on the street back in 2010 said it was Christy The Dapper Don Kinahan who ordered Eamon the Don 's Dunnes Assassination.
Eamon Dunne set up Martin, that's a no-brainer.

Yea I thought the same that was the word on the street in North dublin that eamon don dunne killed his boss marlo and then the Don [eamon ] was also shot dead by someone grieving and wanted revenge for loved one he ordered to be shot dead or someone wanting to take over from him they both are shot dead now over greed and money good god drop your tools and sit down and talk for another mothers son is after been shot dead/murdered 😢
@@user-br8nf2om2n It's just pure pond life the Criminal underworld why people are attracted to it is beyond me there is only two certain outcomes number 1 you will end up in a graveyard number 2 locked up for a very very long time. The quiet simple life suits me just fine.

3 guys, without naming names, 1 is notorious well known name who is long dead. Another was recently in the news for a prison escape, the last likes baked beans 😂

I thought that till one of my younger sisters Bernadette met his mammy a few times socially.
She is adamant she wants justice for her son.
I would not be be too hasty to paint a situation totally innocent exempt from ignorance about where you are and why. I find the obvious elephant is (and may be innocent) the plumber away at the exact time of the attack.
