Me & my wife was herion addicts together for about 5 years, i hate that i got her into it, but i never twisted her arm. I got sentenced to 7½ years in prison. Got out after 19 months, we both have been sober 14 years this coming april. She became a RN. Im a welder/fabricator. We both have management positions at our jobs. Bought our first home own new cars. Getting sober is possible if you want it. And life does get so much better with sobriety might not feel that way at first but it does.

It's is excessively harder when addiction hits two people as a couple, because one sees the other falling out. In a way it strengthens the potential for them to get out of the life while seeing hope through the other person, though it's hard to see help within oneself while in this struggle. It's also brutal, because when it's a couple in the situation, it makes the addiction harder because one feels like they are "helping" their partner by getting them drugs while they are sick with withdrawals. It snowballs into a monster of a situation. I hope you are dealing ok. Alot of bravery to admit things man.

Man I tell you, I'm glad you are sober now I am too but I took too many people into the abyss. The last time I went to prison I really reflected about dragging people down with my own issues. I thought I was doing them a favor at the time.

I'm glad to hear you all are doing well. However, the fact that you stated you didn't twist her arm says that you still feel guilt. You have to accept that and move past it . I know it's really hard. Best of luck to you both.

I KNOW this couple!!! They are such amazingly awesome people!!! I met them both in New Orleans. Even though they were homeless Pheonyx did her makeup EVERYDAY and was ALWAYS dressed sooo nice and David always had super awesome hats and shoes on. They are sooo in love with each other and were ALWAYS holding hands or holding one another. Pheonyx is absolutely beautiful inside AND out!! I always complemented her on her outfits and she is very much a lady! She even gave me one of her coverups/shawls that she KNEW that i loved. :) In fact..I still have it lol... I have also left New Orleans since i last seen them because I got saved by my King Jesus and came back home to my fantastic family..I TRULY hope and pray that they both find salvation so that they can get off of the streets because they are both precious souls that are as lost as I once was. I am now living my absolute BEST life since I found Christ!!! I stay blessed. I am going to keep them both in my prayers daily as I pray for their souls and salvation!!

its cuz what they have is true love, something that's extremely rare in today's world. They love each other unconditionally, no judgements, no lies or hiding things, they trust one another 100% and they have each other's back 100% no mattet what happens. She respects him and he respects her, that alone lacks in today's society. Some days she stumbles and falls and he's there to pick her up and hold her snd tske care of her, some days its him that falls and she is there for him. The moment he said he wish he could have met her sooner shows he truly care about her and will do so until the end. The world could be ending but as loong as they havr each other its all that matters. True unconditional love. Very rare and some never get to experience it or anything like it, its on us to change that and be the kind of people who like these 2 can put pride and selfishness to the side and love someone in that unconditional way we want to be loved. Continue to make that effort always and not judge your partner cuz thats exactly what you want from someone as well, to not be judged when u make a mistake, any of our imperfections and when we simply have moments where we do something or say something we arent proud of. We want someone to be there when we are weak and fall or are defeated by the many things of life. To be loved even when we arent so loving to others, forgiven when we dont deserve to be and in moments of fear or weakness, we are protected. Be everything you want your partner to be to you and watch how you will experience something thats real instead of the fake "love" that is the normal in today's world. Last thing I'll say is what i noticed in this couple and many others that really do love one another unconditionally is that they value each other and one another's presence in their lives, tbey know that they are lucky/blessed to have the great one they have even if they aren't perfect, cuz nobody in this world is and expecting perfection is a unrealistic expectation. They appreciate one another tremendously cuz they know I could of easily had someone terrible instead they have this beautiful soul who loves them for them and nothing else. No expectations, just pure love for each other.

This channel is by far one of the MOST important out there. This should be PROOF that addiction doesn't judge so neither should you.
Weak people don't become addicts...Strong, beautiful, big hearted, intriquite people become addicts when life turns sideways on them and they didn't come with healthy coping built in. This NEEDS to be un derstood. If we are to ever get better. What happens cognitively/environmentally between 1-5 VASTLY affects everything else. It is and yet part of me sees right through it.
My dad has always said he would be there and take care of us much like this man… yet he hardly actually did when it mattered most. Great intentions, but not a lot of follow through.
Although my mom might have died without him… he also almost accidentally killed her once. She’s a type 1 diabetic and he left her at his work with no money, no phone and she had to almost crawl to a coffee shop to get sugar or else she would have passed out and gone into a diabetic coma.
I see their marriage as unfair and a bit toxic.
She deals with his anger and mood swings which personally caused me to try to end my life bc I couldn’t deal with living with them as a teen.
I still love them to death, I know they love me and each other… but sometimes that’s not enough at the end of the day.
If you don’t love yourself .. you can’t truly give or accept love the way you need to.
I know both my parents had very traumatic pasts… but I can see they don’t love themselves and it hurts everyone.
This couple kinda reminds me of them in a way.

Although they are in extremely unfortunate situations they are actually fairly positive people. I love how in this couples interview they DO NOT interrupt each other when they speak. Like, at all. I've seen so many couple(s) interviews on this channel where one or both of them can't get a word in edge wise while the other is speaking. They are both extremely well spoken & although they are homeless and living on the streets they are well dressed, they seem to try to keep as clean as possible (appearance & hygiene wise). I love how much they truly love each other. I have faith in them. They both seem smart & both have alot of potential. Obviously their addictions is what holds them back and goddamn I'm sure it's 100× harder to get clean when you're living on the streets as well. I hope they can find the strength to kick their addictions once and for all. I'd love to see an update in the future. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. 💙

SMH There’s not a day that has gone by that humans do not completely baffle me. That we’re evolving so wickedly & so backwards. I hope that we get as intelligent as we think we are, now, in the near future & see that all the value in this existence is each other; not to step on one another, like it is but to raise each other up. I wonder, if that were to happen, how many things about this existence would seem surreal & magical to us, looking into that future from here.

@@theman.6396 but the point is…those shouldn’t be the options. It shouldn’t get to that point…we know well enough what it is that humans, in general need to thrive. We just don’t allow the information to spread & become normalized & affect society. Instead, we swim in misinformation and create stigmas & stereotypes & taboos & this, through the conditioning of those with platform & power to influence these things. We divide, not to conquer for all but to conquer each other. We are cruel to one another when we’re built only to survive with the combined efforts of each other. Maybe it sounds hippieish…I’m actually talking certain sciences. -You prayed…science has amazing understandings about prayer, meditation & it’s affects on the physical makeup & mailability of the brain. Whether you’re praying to one deity or another or meditating in one of a million different ways, the brain reacts the same & the benefits come, all the same, generally speaking.
We have great evidence in both science & in so many people’s souls, or, from the promptings, thereof. We know what general components can build a society that supports all thriving…but we are kept from building it. -Punishment isn’t the answer. Punishment isn’t the same as consequences that build a person better. No one should have to pray for devastation & devastation worse than what they’ve already endured, just for a chance to build themselves back up.
And your “addiction”…dude…our brains function & create our realities through chemicals. Whether the right balances of those chemicals, that prime a person for good health, are in sink and are being affected by outside influence of environment, very much including the other humans we’re bonded to, or not, makes every difference. It’s like, if you’re outside in freezing conditions, no physical protection from the elements and someone sees you shivering & offers you warm, safe shelter…vs…you’re out there, alone, no one in sight…your brain is going to send you signals both consciously & to the body, subconsciously & you will act in whatever ways are available to you, in order to preserve. Whether that’s, you quickly find a way to make a fire or shelter or, your body goes through the stages of hypothermia, fighting to protect its most necessary functions & either it makes it to a warmer day, in time or it doesn’t and eventually dies. Your brain, your body is going to seek out homeostasis of many a system. Just like you shouldn’t have had to have prayed for worse in order to hopefully summon up the most desperate parts of you & instead, had the varied components of support, care & influence from the beginning of your existence, people shouldn’t have to self medicate, in order to gain some relief of things that should’ve never perpetuate & gone ignored, as their only option. But we don’t have these things in place. Some do…but it’s in its infancy of even being recognized, let alone normalized & adopted by society.

Hi Mark, Thank you for sharing these experiences with us. Dr Carl Hart is a neuroscientist and psychology professor at Columbia. He has a theory that "traumas" are the cause for addiction to drugs. Some people can dabble with drugs and not become addicted and others who have had trauma are more at risk for using them to self medicate. I'm not judging anyone or saying this is true but it makes some sense that treating the trauma someone has endured throughout their life would be helpful. I hope they find some programs and peace in the future to help them heal.

    • @morgenmachen2400
      @morgenmachen2400 2 роки тому +4

I'm not sure if that's a theory or more just a fact at this point. There are seven indicators of a person developing addictions, all with a running theme of trauma, and my experiences certainty speak to that. Thank you for opening the discussion, I think others will have something valuable to add and I'm interested in learning.

My friends and I have talked about how some of us seem to have "addictive personalities" while some of us can dabble in all kinds of wild stuff without ever getting addicted. In the end, we realized that the ones of us had messy childhoods are the ones who struggle with addiction (nicotine, alcohol, and weed being the most common ones). So from personal experience, I think the statement that trauma can play a major role in addiction makes sense. So maybe dealing with past trauma is an important part of overcoming addiction? From experience I know very few of these relationships last. The reason why is addiction destroys everything and if they were to get off. Well usually both rarely do and even if they both were able to kick it. One of the biggest milestones is changing people, places & things that become triggers to use again. The way he choked up talking about his childhood addiction. You can tell that if he could, he would have made better choices. Nonetheless, I am so happy they have one another. I pray that they are able to find something that will get that on their feet, because they deserve that and so much more 💕

Some people just don't have a chance. I'm glad they have each other.

I’m glad they have each other. She is beautiful and strong and he is strong and reserved. They compliment each other well. Mark, I would love to know your interviewees favorite song, movie, color, candy. I would like to be able to relate to them, and I think they’d like the same.

Right, If you have multiple partners that beat you and pimp you out, you need to make better choices in life. Going back to a random homeless mexican dude's tent to sleep is never going to end well. Maybe dont get married after meeting a dude for 1 day. I doubt he did 10 years for pills and a gun.

True, everyone has to try to find their way. Also true that trauma has deep and reverberating implications in peoples lives. Childhood trauma literally damages the brain on a neurological level causing even very intelligent people to make poor decisions.
