The wisest thing Koba did was to not look for an imitator of Yui to replace her. He chose Momo for her own talent, charisma and dedication. She totally different to Yui which is better for fans because we don't need to compare. Yui is now the never-aging face of early kawaii metal, but Momo feels like a part of it's future.
Back in 2015 when Momo joined SG, she was asked which club she wanted to join and she immediately said "juonbu" (the heavy music club), kind of half jokingly since it would have seemed impossible at the time. It's so heartwarming that years later Momo's wish came true and she is now a core part of Babymetal. She put in the hard yards for years to earn her spot and now she's reaping the rewards. After serving as the lone Avenger for so long, Momo was the only logical choice once they decided to add a permanent third member, and everything she has done since joining has shown she was the right choice. I was at Legend MM for this performance and it was pretty incredible to see live. I don't think anyone in the arena was expecting them to plat Meta Taro, seeing as it hadn't been played live since 2018, and it seemed like a lot of people in the crowd initially struggled to remember what actions they were supposed to do but everyone quickly got into it.
Loved and agree with everything you had to say about Babymetal, Momo, Su and Moa. Very insightful and enjoyable commentary. I personally feel Momo has been like a mainline infusion of joy in every performance since she become Momometal. Was never really that wild about Meta Taro but Momo Taro. Now that's another matter entirely. Momo here is Kawaii incarnate! Good luck on your dream!
Adding Momoko as a full member not only was the right decision but it was also fair for her, for BABYMETAL themselves and for the fans. I've read some comments hating on her... not many. And every time for an unhealthy reason. Good luck with your Japanese adventure. And hopefully see you there. 😁 🤘🦊
Man when Su's powerful voice comes in after Momo's kawaii voice it gives me chills lol Also im guessing the reason you havent been getting Babymetal requests is because havent you reacted to most of them? Lol Id personally like to see you do their 5 favorite food english interview from recently. Its so kawaii!
Meta Taro is one of my less favourite songs, but how could I not love this? In the right live setting, it's a very cool experience. The middle part with the crowd participation is awesome!
I’ve said it in other posts, Kobe Metal is a genius. Whether it was a deliberate tactic or not but waiting until fans were virtually begging for a third official member before announcing Momo, meant that most fans would welcome her into Yui’s position. There will always be some that can’t let go of the past but Momo has absolutely earned her spot and is the ideal candidate. I like that she has a completely different persona. Not only that but with her growls, she adds another string to BM’s. I also think that the choreography has never been more in synch. I’m sure that down to maturity but the girls are more spot on than ever. The Yui years are so special in my heart but the future looks very bright in Momo’s hands.

Meta Taro' is also related to the chants that Japanese baseball fans perform during games. The BABYMETAL members even mime pitching and swinging at a baseball during some performances of this song. As well as spelling out "M", "E", "T" & "A" in the choreography. Or growling them, in Momometal's case. : ) There's an animated picture story and narration (kamishibai) introducing this song at LEGEND MM that was cut from this video version. It's worth looking for. It's a variation on the traditional Japanese story of Momotaro. In this version it's Momo that was born from the giant peach.
Neither Riho or Kano have appeared with BABYMETAL since 2020. Riho is focused on her solo career, and Kano is busy with @onefive. It's been Momoko exclusively since then. They could have made her a permanent member a little sooner, but she was a great pick. I'm still glad that I was fortunate enough to see the original lineup a few times.
I get the impression that they were holding off until they were sure that they were going to continue after the hiatus before making Momo permanent. No point in adding her officially in 2019/2020 if Babymetal ends shortly thereafter. Once they decided that they want to continue Babymetal, making Momo official was a no-brainer.
There is no Yui/Momo debate, we cant have Yui now cos she dosen´t want to or cant and we couldn´t have Momo at the start of Babymetal as she was too young.

During the first day of this concert the lead vocal sound channel was a little quiet. On the second day they got the sound balance better, but the channel progressively began to fail during the concert, with the distorsion you can hear as meta toro progressed. You notice that Su metals voice is rich, but it decays. Still great concert.
Yui’s gone. She’s been gone for a long time now. It’s time to let go, be grateful for how great she was, and thank her for her contributions to Babymetal. Momo is the present and the future.

I've saying for years, nobody can replace Yui, they can only add a new member.
