    What is the link to the slideshow/ instructions you mentioned? I didn't see it in the description. Regardless, great video. (I also see some people complaining about it "not having enough music" or "not getting to the point" fast enough. Whatever. The extra information provided was useful.

    Also wanted to mention that your website has a ton of ideas on it, things that lead you (us) in different directions and may give even more ideas to try. Reading instructions is not such a bad thing, because you can print them out and have them for later, whereas it's not always easy to remember (find) the video a few months down the line. As memorable as we'd like to be, others don't always remember names, may only remember that hot glue video or the embossing powder video or the baked potato idea...
    Personally, I have you bookmarked on Firefox AND in my UA-cam list.

    If I'm hearing you correctly you only get two glue sticks as a result of using three glue sticks in the materials. Is that right?

    Since the crayon is wax, does the crayon make it so the glue is less adhesive?

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  7 років тому +1

      As mentioned in the write up on the website, up to 10 % wax will not adversely affect the bond. To make a better bond, pre-warm the surfaces so that the hot glue can penetrate the surfaces, Ken.

    hi! is it possible to make a glow in the dark glue sticks? I would really appreciate your help!

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  9 років тому

      +Andy Rosaroso,
      It is possible to add a pigment like strontium aluminate or other pigment but it will be easier to buy the already available glue sticks at Amazon or even local craft stores. Getting the pigment distributed and functional would take some real effort. That is my best suggestion at this time, Ken.

      +observationsblog.com Thanks for your reply.. I'm actually not living in the USA and I'm really having a hard time finding those readily made colored glow in the dark hot glue sticks... That's why DIY is my best shot since I have the complete equipment, just needed to know the lists of ingredients and the how to's... Do you have a link or any source that I could use to make it? huhu I'm desperate... Lol! Have a nice day!

      +Andy Rosaroso
      Hey Andy,
      I can possibly help but I have a question first. Regular glow sticks are already UV reactive and glow as long as the light is on. But my question is do you want a phosphorescent stick that glows after the light is removed and does the glue have to be functional (have to retain its adhesion0? The question is relevant as the pigment loading may decrease adhesion. For a quick review of phosphorescent pigments please take a look at the post that I did on glow in the dark paint with some really good comments from readers. www.observationsblog.com/odds-n-ends/glow-in-the-dark-paint-product-review Thanks, Ken.

      Hey Do you think you can make a short video of you using the glue sticks to show how well they still work?

    • @merryclicker
      @merryclicker 8 років тому +2

      Amazon sells glow in the dark pigment in a couple different colors - the powder I have is white but glows in a blue color. The seller takes a LONG time to send the product but it works in all the things I've tried it with. Pretty blue, too.

    Would this also work for sealing wax? Last month I tried using PVC pipe to mold the wax but could never get it out.

    • @Sweettom100
      @Sweettom100 7 років тому

      Yes it should work well. Try a small experiment by melting a little sealing wax and pouring it on the parchment paper. If it releases, you are all set to line the PVC pipe. Ken.

    Hi Ken thanks for posting this! I was wondering have you tried to make colored Mod Podge Mod Melts in various colors using the same technique. I have read that they are made from meltable resin - so would the process be the same?

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  6 років тому

      My best guess is that it would not work as Mod Podge is water is water soluble and of course, crayons are not, thanks, Ken.

    • @annettegongora156
      @annettegongora156 6 років тому

      observationsblog.com Yes the mod podge glue is water soluble but I do not think the mod melts are as they already come in a solid form (like glue sticks). Let me see if I can post a link to a picture so you can see which product I'm referring to as it relates to my above question.

    • @annettegongora156
      @annettegongora156 6 років тому

      Here's a link to the product: www.joann.com/mod-podge-16-piece-milk-glass-white-mod-melts/12725305.html?[ADL]%20[Shopping]%20[Mobile]%20Product%20Type%20[High]%20(New%20Structure)&gclid=CjwKCAjwlcXXBRBhEiwApfHGTZM7g76tMYLFbVVMjid2qWfNeYULTETq-wgWghlnkNeAb44yn0hXkhoC4UEQAvD_BwE I have seen it posted that they are "melt able resin" or "melt able plastic". I can also post a UA-cam video of a review showing what they look like when they are melted if that would help. Just let me know. Thanks!

      Ugh looks like link is not clickable so you might have to use copy / paste. :/

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  6 років тому

      Thanks for the link and it is a product that I was not familiar with. However, when I looked for a Safety Data Sheet there was none to be found so I don't know what the polymer might be. It apparently melts at a higher temperature than glue sticks as it fails to work in glue guns. It is also harder but I am not sure how hard it gets so impossible to make a guess. The temperature differential between crayons and this product may be too great to use. Sorry I can't help more, Ken.

    Crayons can be melted in the microwave - can hot glue also be melted in the microwave?

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  8 років тому +1

      Hi Martha,
      Glue sticks will partially liquefy in the microwave but not melt. They can also catch on fire so I would not recommend it at all. Thanks, Ken.

    What temperature i need to melt the glue stick?

    • @observationsblogcom
      @observationsblogcom  7 років тому

      It depends on whether you use low or high temp sticks. Glue guns come in low-temperature and high-temperature (hot-melt) versions. Low-temperature glue guns operate at approximately 120 °C (248 °F) and are well suited when high temperatures are undesirable, such as gluing lace and cloth. High-temperature guns operate at approximately 190-210 °C (374-410 °F) and produce a stronger bond. Ken.
