  • In this video I will explain the two ways to replace the cutting line in a Craftsman 25cc grass trimmer. The head cover is taken off to explain the inner workings hopefully to make replacing the line more understandable. There is a short weed trimmer story with a skit in this video that I hope you enjoy. Watch to whole video. There is a shout out to my son's channel at the end. Thanks everyone especially to my subscribers.

      I’m trimming a Friend’s grass with the same trimmer, why does the red plastic top keep flying? I never used a weed trimmer before and it’s a good one I guess except for that red cap that won’t Stay on.

      Never mind, the neighbor who worked on the weed whacker put the red bump on top of the whack assembly and why it kept flying off. I figured it out by taking the assembly apart and put it under the top part it works now.

    Have you had the issue where the last ~12” of line comes out of the trimmer?
    I can load and wind the 7’ of line but when it gets down to the last bit it just comes flying out.

    • @COACHgtv8192
      @COACHgtv8192  2 роки тому

      I haven't had that issue. Maybe the line is seated well enough to load but gets thrown out at the end because of centrifugal force. I'm just guessing here because I haven't run into that problem yet. Thanks for watching the video Brian.

    I’m not feeling it stick at all when putting the string in the holes and therefore when I try to advance it by turning the knob it just falls out. This is a new weed trimmer for me but I’ve done this hundreds of times on my previous one. I cannot figure out what’s going on at all. The marked lines are lined up properly, nothings dirty, the string is the correct size, I cut them at a 30 degree angle, I absolutely cannot understand why the string won’t stick so I can advance it.??

    • @COACHgtv8192
      @COACHgtv8192  3 роки тому

      Wish I could check that trimmer out, you know, hands on. Can't tell what the problem could be if the alignment arrows and marks are line up. You've done it before with a previous trimmer so you pretty much know what you are doing. Seems weird that the line won't seat. I have actually stringed trimmers the hard way by removing the bump knob and the spool then winding the line manually, but it is a supreme hassle.

      Thanks for watching man. I only had the cover off in the video but I just took the head off today. Now this was on a 35cc Craftsman. Squeeze the clips on either side and the bottom cover will come off. The red bump nob also has two tabs you have to press and that pops off. There is a screw to remove and the rest will just slide off. You may be able to put a brush cutting blade on it. Maybe you can find one with some sort of adaptors and washers with a male end that fits. Hope this helps and thanks . This sounds like another video idea.

    I’m from Jersey and I was cracking up because I definitely called the trimmer a “weed wacker”. You did an awesome job explaining this process. Now if only someone will show me how to get more line out when the line is short. Lol

    • @COACHgtv8192
      @COACHgtv8192  3 роки тому

      Lol, Thank you Alicia. Most trimmers have a bump nob on the bottom of the head. It's the round piece that is protruding. If your trimmer has line in it all you have to do is tap that piece on the ground while the head is spinning and it feeds the line. When you get to the point where bumping stops working then you know its time to add more line.

      I'm assuming that the FOUR exclamation marks mean you are raising your voice as you wrote the demand/comment so excuse me if my replay has a rude tone. I didn't show that part because it is common sense that you would press both tabs on either side of the cover and pull down!!!! Plus, the whole point of the video was to show that removing the cover is unnecessary however if you would like a demonstration, watch the video labeled " how to remove the entire head of this trimmer" at the end of the video.

    Outstanding video. Thank you for explaining the concept of the speed spool so clearly and simply. They should probably put something on the box that directs the buyer to a video demonstration of how to load the speed spool, just like your video.
    I know I’m not the only one who initially tried to pop the bumper cover off and load the head by pinching the wire with my fingers. 😆
    Awesome video. The skit at the beginning was priceless!

      @@COACHgtv8192 I followed your instructions But I only get a couple uses out of it and then it gets tangled inside the spool. Any idea as to what I might be doing wrong

    • @COACHgtv8192
      @COACHgtv8192  3 роки тому

      @@skinny4 It’s probably the spool head and not you. Even though it is set up to be used as a speed spool it can be threaded by taking the cover off to reveal the two sea ruins inside. You can wrap the trimmer string manually and run the ends through the holes as you replace the cover. If it gets tangled then it is probably the spool itself. I’m sure you can get a replacement spool at Lowes. Hope this helps.

      @@COACHgtv8192 I appreciate it, but when I tried to get replacement parts before they told me they did not have them and I had to search. Also to this is a relatively new weed trimmer so this is disappointing.

    It would be nice to remove the loud bass sound which comes on and deafens the listener and scares the hell out of him unexpectedly. ... 8-)
