For me, there are bikes out there that are inevitably better than the NC in one or more categories. But no bike ticks so many boxes (for me) as the NC. Furthermore, when you factor in the cost of almost every other bike you realise what stupidly good value the NC is.

Stunning bike, collect mine next Friday! Tour Mode and (press and hold D) Sport Mode 2 is perhaps the optimum setting (doesn't change up too quick)

    • @IngramCars

@@birchwoodbiker Great, enjoy! Try pressing and holding D (Drive button). There are three Sport modes. You'll see it change next to the D sign. Press the number of times for the required mode. I think Sport 2 with the bike in Tour Mode (on the big screen) is optimum. You'll notice a big difference. Always defaults to normal D when starting, which is the economical mode.
Other modes (in the big screen) T is for Torque/traction adjust, P is to adjust power, W is Wheelie control! (three levels), B is for adjusting desired engine braking.
If it has Electronic Suspension, the suspension adjusts soft/firm/height to suit which mode you are in, Off-Road, Tour, Gravel etc
Mega bike, have fun and stay safe.
      Simon

Great vid John, just a thought but I read somewhere once that only a couple of tuning mods for the NC are needed to transform the power and torque without effecting fuel economy.. I think it was a K&N Air filter and a different exhaust..might be worth a look into..

Hiya, Thank You for the video which I thought was a good honest review, and it was nice that you kept comparing it with your NC, because I own an NC I always compare everything with that as well.

I too own an NC750X (2017, not a DCT though). I also run a couple of other bikes but the NC is my 'go to' machine every time. There really is no other bike that ticks so many boxes as the NC. I'm touring Scotland on it in June and planning many more trips out on it this year...if it ever stops raining...

I have a '21 AT DCT base model. On the engine power setting, I don't see any real point to it. All it seems to be is just a throttle snatchiness control LOL. If you set it to lower power settings, it just makes it less responsive at lower throttle settings, far as I can see. Believe me, if you open it up all the way, it still gives you all of it (hang on because it's unmistakable). So I just ride mine at all times in User 1, engine power turned all the way down and braking all the way up. And always in D mode. That makes it chug along at low speeds, but it takes the yanking out of the throttle as much as possible.....

Paul, You know if the NC had better suspension, better brakes and more horse power. It would be an Africa Twin ?? You know how much I enjoyed my AT be it the previous model to the one your on. Very often did 450mile days easily with comfort. The only downside I found was a couple of times on off camber gradients and especially two up it nearly caught me out. I think it was only a matter of time before a drop. Having now owned the NC for a year I can really see it being a long termer. Must say though you being a much younger lad

Hi, one of the reasons I sold the VFR 1200 was the top end weight, so buying the AT wouldn’t work for me either.
Tempted with the Trans Alp, sat on one at the NEC, but to be frank, I like the NC and I’ve got it kitted out just how I like it.
It means spending loads more to kit a new bike out.
It’s the rear shock on the NC which is a bit crashy., might take the plunge yet, are you going to fit yours soon ?

i'v got a 23 nc750dct i had a ride on the new africa twin last year and i thought it was good i like the high up riding position and as you say the gearbox seemed to work better with the bigger engine and the suspension was wonderfull just soaked up every bump the nc has budget suspension i having mine upgraded next week i'm changing the rear unit for a yss one and a set of hyperpro fork internals, i didn't like all the daft buttons everywhere on the AT and i thought it was top heavy at slow speed and it had a lot of vibration when at low rpm as well, i'd have one in the garage but wouldn't get rid of the nc for it, they are twice the money as well

Hi mate yes totally great with Honda's 100% Reliability that's for sure . Some would say cost of over all runing cost over a year ie fuel range mantaince insurance tax weight . Yes no doubt its got all the toys to play with £££ to pay for it tho . Yes dizzy dash when eyes are the ment to be on the road . A Compromise of what you can afford & life Style. But Nc has the fronk fuel economy is out standing of any bike for in the market. Yes front Suspension is a little soft . But some heavy fork oil will sort that. & £ price & at the end of the day 70mph on motorways & 20 in most towns now so we don't often go to Germany to stretch the legs on many bikes . But on any bike always have miles of smiles what ever you ride be save guys .

How can u jump on a bike and think you're test riding it when you don't know what the actual power modes are, tank size is and if it's electronic suspension or not. All due respect if I was going to present something to a viewer i'd feel I owe it to the viewers what the bike is all about. And the weight starts at 231 kilos kerb weight. Having said that, maybe people aren't into what the bike is about and just the looks and that's it's got loads of settings that people don't know about. Oh by the way. There is a switch on the right hand side that switches on your heated grips .nothing else

Its a DCT with es. The suspension indicator bottom right of the dash and the cables on the fork tops give that away. I agree, he knows nothing about the bike but his comments I think are interesting given the fact he's never ridden one and knows nothing about it.
He certainly found D for dreadful, S2 is my normal mode.

Made me laugh with your comment about the power of the Africa Twin, comparing it to your bike and a BMW 850, especially when you never got it into SPORT MODE , if you did i think you would need to change your underwear.
I know it was a loan bike but thought you would at least read up when you got home so you could try everything it has to offer !!
I keep telling people who have not ridden one or only round the block, you need it for 3 days before you decide one way or the other !!

The Tenere 700 is the only modern bike from a japanese manufacturer that is more simple and no thrills. Initially wanted to buy it and had a change a heart and went for the AT DCT 2024. Two more months till she’s here.
