I recently swapped my 2018 ATAS for a 2023 NC750X DCT. They both have the same instrument set-up. Different screens. I had my AT for 3 years as a daily. I loved owning and riding it, both on and off-road, but it's just too top heavy. I tested a newer AT with the DCT and really enjoyed it. But. Same weight problems and that bloody over complex instrument cluster was a no no for me. The NC is just one of those bikes that will blow you away with it's abilities. It's so well engineered and intelligently designed. Great ride. Fully useable power range. Huge torque. Love it.
May I say what excellent no nonsense video's you produce. How a bike makes you feel is all that matters. I own a 2012 VFR800, riding it makes me buzz from head to toe and feel like I've petrol in my veins. I'm also lucky enough to own a NC750 which is a brilliant bike. But I'm changing it for an Africa Twin ES Adventure Sport DCT (collecting next week). I took the test bike out for three hours, and it made me feel the same as the VFR does. It lights my fire and makes me feel alive! To my eyes it looks sensational, arguably the best looking ADV out there (although the Multistrada pushes it close), and for long distance touring with the luggage it'll be perfect. I agree about the switchgear, instead of indicating I changed the ride mode on test, hopefully I'll get used to that. Watching you last video I noticed the self cancelling indicators can be turned off, thank heavens.
My AT I loved it in the beginning. As time went on the weight , the 21inch front and the dip when breaking became too much. Also because its so tall you've got to be precise when coming to a stop especially on uneven roads.... My NC , That's my "forever" bike now. That is until they make the Transalp DCT.
Good honest review thank You! The Africa is one of the best looking adventure bikes ever with its heritage & history. Now i suggest You try out the Honda Crosstourer DCT. The Power Of Dreams ❤ Cheers from Norway.
As you say lovely display, I have the same on the NT 1100. I get 60mpg on the NT 1100.You will find that if you use the Android auto and the features every day you do get used to the many switches then you realise it's a good layout. Nice work. Cheers.
Would certainly go back to an NC if fuel economy was top of my list. But for commuting and in traffic the NT is just as nimble. (Will post a video to show how good it is filtering) The NC is a perfect commuter with the front storage and fuel economy, and a lot cheaper, and the one I would recommend if commuting is most of your riding. The NT is better for weather protection and I'm finding it greatly better especially in the rain which we have had a lot recently. If comfort and Gadgets is the priority go for the NT. The NT Can be a bit Lumpy below 10mph in any mode I've tried so far, but doesn't bother me. Can't go wrong with any Honda. Thanks for your comment and keep your excellent video comming. Cheers.
Great video, I’m on the thinking of changing my NC750x DCT to an Africa Twin, had a go on one this week and loved it but guess similar to yourself on thoughts, the NC is a cracking machine and I pretty much live in the M6 commuting and feel the NC would be better than the AT
@@birchwoodbiker I’m starting to think the same, it’s my first big bike and there isn’t much out there that really stands out that offers what the NC does, if you ever fancy a ride sometime I’m always up for a NC outing! 🥳
After 7 years riding with my nc750x which i have down Africa from south to north i dicide to by Africa twin adventure 1100 but just after 2 weeks riding my new bike i am thinking to sell it and go back on nc750x , because on nc i am using half of fuel also storage, etc....
@@birchwoodbiker I've got -4cm lower pegs, higher bars, +3 cm custom seat and still feeling uncomfortable. Except this, I love NC So much fór my daily needs.
Hi BB, Thats the latest 2024 model, with the tubeless wheels electronic suspension which you have to have if you spec DCT. list price is a whopping £15899! The one you showed for £12999 is a left over 2023 model The cheapest 2024 model would be £13199 non DCT or electronic suspension, in black or red. You cannot have that color in the manual version. I had a brand new 2017 manual CRF1000L it cost me £10500 back then. Quite a bargain compared to current prices.
@@birchwoodbiker Yes indeed. I was out on the NC the weekend, Part of its charm for me is its simplicity. Even the basic dash is fine, after all we should be looking at the road ahead and it's only a quick glance down for checking our speed. It's less tech to go wrong TFTs can fail and cost ££££ Performance wise its more than enough, I mostly do country lanes max 60mph some are 50s. Its got a great torque delivery for the real world. Should I need to do some motorway work- only due to lack of time (weekends to Scotland) It will do that aswell 3.5k rpm at 70mph I really love it, for riders who don't care about bragging or riding like idiots its great! Maintenance is easy and running costs are great, which means more cash to go on more adventures! 👍
I used to own nc750 great bike but very outdated. Very old Swingarm , front fork and front single dice break 😢😢😢 africa twin is on another level. Sadly, you only use d mode . S1. S2. S3 you could have use. I usually use on road S1 and on Mountain S2. . Right now i am with africa twin but if they update nc i could be back😊😊😊
Hi Paul I wonder what you would have thought about this bike if you rode it in sports mode and not only in drive mode ? The dct in that bike has three sports mode levels👍🏿
@@birchwoodbiker the modes ie tour rain urban user 1/2 are adjustable but sports mode is a extra press of the drive button with three levels which hold on to the gears longer as you go up the levels 👍🏿
The AT is great if you can only have 1 bike as it does everything except extreme off road. The crf 1000 AT is more affordable and has much less tech to go wrong and a smaller dashboard.
I had an nc 750 DCT, good bike but it wasnt for me (i prefer manual) i was looking at the transalp 750 or africa twin to replace my nc with and ended up going with the transalp. The africa twin instrument cluster + top heavy + high price i couldnt justify compared to the transalp. I have no idea how honda keeps making this africa twin with this instrument cluster. There are countless negative reviews about how much people hate it, its probably the worst one from all big adventure bikes and they just dont change it.
Yes but it's really Top heavy, the AT is the much better bike for quality and for touring off roads, but for my type of riding I will stick with the NC for now👍👍👍have you got the AT

Its a real shame they don't make the Transalp 750 with the dct..think that would be nice between the NC and the AT...
I think you’re right, the next NC will get the TFT screen. Doesn’t the new NX500 (CB500X replacement) have one?

Good thoughts on both bikes most serious off roaders only use the max of 700/750 bikes like the Yamaha T7 👍🏍️
That was an excellent review mate. My opinion for what it's worth is there's a bike out there for everyone, that's what makes biking so good.👍👍
How was todays trip? Should be up for next week as long as it's dryish@@birchwoodbiker

Unfortunately priced them out of the reach for many.
