  • Everybody told me to try Laksa Sarawak. Always. Since we arrived here, even before. If you go to Sarawak, you must this very important and famous food that Anthony Bourdain called "the breakfast of the Gods". Now we tried it. Actually it was me and my son that ate it. Was it good? How did I like it? And, let´s be honest, what did the boy think? Did we really like it so much. It really is a hate or love thing lots of people told me. Is that so? Let´s check out the video and find out what happend.
    We would appreciate if you gave the video a like and a comment, maybe even a share on your social media accounts. Let´s see if we can beat the algorithm and make the things that we say about Laksa Sarawak be known to the whole world.

    I am glad you all enjoyed sarawak laksa...legend has it, original recipe has 32 spices in the gravy paste. Year ago every one buy the soup base paste from one seller so all laksa tasted quite similar, nowadays each shop has their own flavor but still not too far off from the original.

      i remember older generation always mention there used to have a guy riding a bicycle with front carriage selling the original soup base paste at carpenter street. actually the soup would taste bad if the soup is watery instead of being gravy. like the watery laksa sold by canteen of my school Kuching High. 😅

    Yaaay....finally, you and Vincent tried Sarawak laksa...."Breakfast of the God" as quoted by Anthony Bourdain. Sir, l think it doesn't matter which race (Malay or Chinese) cook this laksa, it's Sarawak laksa...very much different from the laksa available in Peninsula Malaysia. Anyway, great to see both daddy and son love it. What an awesome breakfast !

    i want to clarify with you that it wasn't chilli sauce but prawn paste (belacan) to thicken n spice up the broth. You are supposed to squeeze the calamansi/ lemon into the belcan and mix to make it into a paste before you mix it with d broth to spice up.

    • @yvesthesleeve
      @yvesthesleeve  11 місяців тому

    Tbw moonshine its sambal the real authentic thats where the sambal start everything got famous start from here in sarawak then later spread. Its not made from fish its a prawn paste. The laksa you tried it contain no fish ,no fish in the soup. Anyway the sambal we call it sambal belacan in sarawak famous. Mainland sambal and othet world part arw not sambal they just simple chilie with normal mix. Sambal belacan in sarawak are special. Just to let yiu know. Glad you tried and hope you really like 😊

    Finally trying Sarawak laksa. Actually, there is not much difference between malay or chinese laksa because the basic ingredients are all the same. The only difference is the thickness of the broth because it uses coconut milk.
    Unlike kolo mee. There is a big difference between malay and chinese kolo mee because the chinese uses pork and pork lard.

      yup, agree on that too. As a local, the Chinese Laksa are thinner on the broth due to health conscious. on Malay Laksa, the use of coconut milk is sure, thus made the broth more thicker. otherwise, both ingredients for Malay & Chinese Laksa Sarawak are the same. FYI, Laksa is Chinese origin. 😊

I was suggesting different places to eat as in his video the vlogger was asking about it. So, salahkah orang tolong jawab? Glad you finally tried the Sarawak laksa.
    12:16 There’s only one Sarawak laksa. The difference is in how different people do the broth. Chinese normally cooked it a little light while the Malays tend to cooked the broth a bit thicker and until the coconut oil breaks… like the children’s song “some like it hot (thin), some like it cold (thick)”. 😄 The laksa paste is boiled in prawn broth and then coconut milk is added.
