ikr... because the process is so tedious. we often buy the pre-made paste. different brands usually have slightly different taste also. some have stronger spices, some are less.
I fall in love with Laksa Sarawak in 2008; a small hut in the middle of a golf course (Muara) in Miri, Sarawak. If ever had a chance to be there again, definitely getting 2 bowls or more! Just so rich and aromatics!
I’m speechless and in awe to see Rachel and kid enjoying Asian food. Kumaar, salute to you coz you truly make this mix marriage life amazingly beautiful. I am impressed. And Rachel, you are one superb lady. God bless you and family
I am a Sarawakian living in Kuantan and every time I went back to Kuching I bought the ready made laksa paste. I am proud of you guys for preparing this dish from scratch which I have never even tried all this while. Next time you guys come to Kuching you can try the laksa Sarawak at My Mom's Laksa restaurant at Jln Hj Taha or at Choon Hui Cafe at Jln Ban Hock. Have a great adventure!
Really so impressed that you cooked the paste that I share your video with friends. Sarawak is a foodie galore. 27 ethnic races with each own unique specialties our foods truly unites and bonds us.
U guys r really awesome n amazing...me myself a sarawakian never made the paste from scratch...always bought a pre-made one from the supermarket...kudos to u guys for doing the effort..
Dont worry Logesh & Racheal, when you come to Sarawak, Kuching especially almost all the cafe or kopitiam serve laksa sarawak 😋👍🏻 just ask the taxi or grab driver, im very sure they will tell you the best spot 😍😊 im Sarawakian 🙋🏼♀️ I can cook laksa sarawak for your family too 😍👍🏻 pls come visit us ✌🏻❤
The one Mr Bourdain went to was Choon Hui Cafe (Kuching). Also checkout these no less incredible Sarawak Laksa at Dapo Puro (Puchong), Dapur Sarawak (KL), Chong Choon & King's Laksa (Kuching).
There was this "auntie" but she's retired. But you could try the place that the late Anthony Bourdain went to - Choon Hui Cafe or the other option is Mom's Laksa (they have many branches peppered around Kuching). I'm impressed you made the paste from scratch. I had to have my mom mailed it to us here in Maine. And no, I'm not sending you my stash - it's the most precious commodity here in my household, next to the Bintulu belacan.
I was introduced to Laksa Sarawak during college years. Fell in love with it instantly but never cook Laksa Sarawak myself. Your video surely inspired me to cook or make my own laksa sarawak at home ! Thanks Rachel & Kumar 😍
Finally You made my homestate favourite of the year, laksa sarawak. Laksa Sarawak is the boss of the breakfast in sarawak state but other than Laksa, you should Try Mee Kolok, Mee Pok, Mee Sapi from sarawak as well. But i want to see Rachel to masak Nasi Goreng Dabai !.
mcm mna nk goreng nasi dabai kalau xde dabai...satu cara je...pos kat diorg...hntar laksa paste..dabai..terubuk masin..kek lapis..klau aku org srwak mmg aku hantar pnye
Love the way you guys adapt the Malaysian diversity. You make us proud as a Malaysian. In this past 2 years I have made for the first time Laksa Johor and Mee Bandung. But after watching you guys, I have been enticed to make it. Great family
It is awesome to see you made the paste from scratch I'm from Sarawak and don't even know how to make it from scratch. Kudos to the American here! The laksa Sarawak is the best in the world!! Come to Kuching! We have the best laksa Sarawak here!
U can get the Sarawak laksa paste online on the “A” site in the States (mentioned the full name earlier and my comment got deleted). Less the fuss. Buy the Haji Manan brand, tho I prefer Burung Bayan but it’s not available on A. Add lightly smashed ginger, galangal n lemongrass while boiling the paste. Some dashes of evaporated milk together with the santan to make it creamier. Top it with coriander leaves while serving. Don’t forget sambal belacan and calamansi for extra kick. Just blend toasted belacan with lotsa red chillies (deseeded) for the sambal. Those will bring ur laksa Sarawak game to a whole new level.
I remembered trying it in Kuching the first time and it was delicious! It does have the mix between Chinese curry + Penang prawn mee broth but I think the ratio to make the sambal is different compared to the usual Chinese curry (in Ipoh) and the prawn mee broth. Overall, Malaysian food is full of colours! And oh yes, I think the Chinese curry (in Ipoh) doesn't have the belacan straight in to the curry. That could be the biggest difference me thinks. All in all, kudos and great job to Rachel for doing 99% of the cooking (other than the omelet) and Logesh's "bowl-ing" is 5 stars yummy. I was thinking that you guys have been too "kiam siap" (stingy - in Hokkien) on the broth haha... but Logesh made good by topping up some broth just enough to soak all the food in. (Kai kai doesn't fancy bee hoon? haha)
Yes, Laksa sarawak the Breakfast of the gods, for me it is the best Laksa ever. 👌 so glad you make yours from scratch. But you should try the original in Sarawak it self. Truly the Breakfast of the gods.
I’m a Sarawakian and I am glad that like Sarawak Laksa. That’s my favorite breakfast 😃. Anyways in Sarawak, for me, the best Laksa is in Kuching, Sarawak. Places in Kuching, Sarawak that I can recommend are: 1. Choon Hui Cafe 2. Chong Choon Cafe 3. Madam Tang’s Cafe 4. Mom’s Laksa These are my favorite spot to have Laksa Sarawak for breakfast. I hope to see you visit Sarawak ☺️☺️🙏🏻
As a Sarawakian, I would like thank both Kumaar and Rachel for doing this "breakfast of the gods" - Sarawak laksa video. Yes, indeed it is more than a breakfast of/for the gods. Almost all Sarawakians love this food, from the very old to the young. Literally, the minute we are weaned from our mothers' milk we start eating Sarawak laksa - exaggeration of course 🤣🤣. Jokes aside, for me, the best Sarawak laksa place in the world is, of course, in Kuching, Sarawak. And, in Kuching, the best place to get it is at Da' Apple kopitiam, Jalan Chan Chin Ann, Kuching, Sarawak, which is next to the Sarawak Plaza complex. If you and your family ever come to visit us in Kuching, call me up and I will bring you there.
Guys, seeing you guys making THE Sarawak Laksa from the scratch, my respect towards you guys is skyrocketing. I am from Sarawak myself. Whenever I want to make Sarawak Laksa, I just need to buy the paste which ready-made that comes in packet. Again, watching you guys make the Laksa, this video surely needs a recognition, man. Cheers, guys. P/s: Ohhhh for sugar, instead of adding a normal sugar, try to use Palm Sugar or Gula Apong. I believe Kumar knows what Gula Apong is. I follow you guys in Facebook since 2021, and subscribe to your YT channel now.
Amazed how u guys really made Sarawak Laksa from scratch as how we Sarawakian do at home....even more amazed when u guys seems to really enjoyed it even though its your first time trying it......When in Malaysia....there are many laksa joints u can try.. whether in KL or Sarawak...but to get that "The Breakfast Of The Gods" feeling"...you definitely must try the shop that Anthony went for his Laksa...@ Choon Hui Cafe, 34, Jalan Ban Hock, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak. Opens everyday except Monday, From 6:30 AM-10:30 AM, C U Guys In Kuching/Sarawak.
The one thing I realised now as an adult, candlenuts, something my mom uses a lot espiecially during raya, are actually toxic when raw. But it's safe when cooked. So, my thought is who was like, "Let's eat this nut" then like may be get very sick or die. Then say, "Let's cook it and see what happens". Whoever that person is, I salute you
Great Job! I'm Sarawakian and living in KL now. And yes, i can eat this for breakfast, lunch, teatime, dinner and supper all day. If you ever come back to KL, try the laksa at SALTed, the best laksa for me personally in KL. they also serve other Sarawak delicacies such as Mee Kolok, Mee belacan, etc. But back home in Kuching, my mak's laksa is the best.... hahahaha. But if you do go to Kuching, to be honest, any stalls or restaurant cooks the best and authentic laksa. But there's a chained restaurant named Mom's Laksa you can go to.
Finally!!!! When im in Sarawak I only have Laksa Sarawak for breakfast everyday!!! One of my fav dishes...............FYI you should go over and try the laksa made by the locals its even more amazing! You should try the laksa with kolo mee noodle, the flavour combo in the laksa is amazing!
Proud of you Logesh & Rachel. Im from Kuching,Sarawak and working in Kuwait. If you trip to Kuching, drop by at King Laksa at Icom square or Pak Amit Cafe,Matang for Laksa ya.
Wowww...Laksa Sarawak, its my favourite...of course i like it very much... Because, I'm from,Kuching,Sarawak... Love both of you... From Sarawak...😍😍🥰 I only know the place we always go there to eat Laksa Sarawak at my hometown, Sarawak is, MOM LAKSA Restaurant, Kuching, Sarawak..you can go there and try they Laksa Sarawak...
whenever I cook for my colleague,I always get compliments for my laksa sarawak..but I do not cook from scratch like u guys..kudos for both of u..I prefer the cap burung bayan brand..
There's a lot of fantastic laksa sarawak place in Kuching (as i am from Kuching and of course many more places around Sarawak). Just come over and explore. And if you come to Kuching, you should try rojak mee aswell.. I can guarantee you and your wife will love the rojak mee too 😍😍😍
Hello from Sarawak, Laksa Sarawak has been my comfort food ever since my childhood. The broth, noodles, condiments blends well together. Order it with a glass of Teh C Special Peng and you're breakfast is complete.
Im in awe to see Rachel and Logesh make Laksa Sarawak from scratch. even most of my relatives that cook laksa they just buy the laksa paste.. Good job ,guys. Maybe you guys can try mee kolok next..
There is one sarawak laksa that i love its at bangsar. Its a kopitiam in Kedai makanan nam chun. Her stall is aunty christina's sarawak laksa since 1960 and also came out in newspapers. I'm not sure whether it's still open cz i am working overseas and haven't been since before pandemic. Hope this helps. 😊
For me the best would be in kuching, and i'm from miri sarawak. Infact every town in sarawak have their very best version. When it comes to laksa sarawak it's really hard to tell them apart. I won't be recommending any particular shop, but the rule of thumb is where the locals go that is where the action is.😄 I have to agree with you, you won't get the best laksa sarawak in other states in malaysia. It is purely only in sarawak.
This video is a very good backup for the latest issue about laksa Sarawak , our legendary famous dish in Sarawak , that being criticised by the individuals , its going viral eversince. Thank you for sharing.❤
As sarawakian and food lovers Laksa Sarawak is the Best... Wait until you try Sarawak Bubur Pedas.... Mind blowing.... And love to see KayKay Eat laksa with Rachel....
Wow i didn't even know that laksa sarawak is a breakfast dish. I had it for lunch, once. Yumlicious. Terer la rachel for successfully cooking this complicated dish. Two thumbs up eh.
It's impressive that you prepared the laksa paste from scratch. I'm a Sarawakian, I know not many Sarawakians know or willing to make the paste themselves due to the amount of work involved in preparing it; many (including myself) would just settle with premade paste bought from supermarket. It's not that I can tell the difference anyway 😁 BTW I may be bias due to being a Sarawakian but I personally think laksa Sarawak's "kuah" has the richest taste of all Malaysian laksa I've tasted so far.
You are right. It is not easy to prepare the paste and it certainly is time consuming. Hats off to Rachel and Logesh for doing it. Maybe someone frkm Sarawak can send them the ready made paste. It has nothing to do with bias that you think the broth is really tasty and yummy because IT IS. Period.
Malaysia is a land of laksas. There are so many kinds with each state having its own signature laksa. Love all of them but ofc Im partial to Terengganu laksa 😃 of which there are 2 kinds namely Laksa Kuah Putih and Laksa Kuah Merah. Come on over to sample them. That was a nice touch with Anthony Bourdain introducing Laksa Sarawak.Love the man.May he RIP and may he be free off whatever demons he was fighting. Wonderful job with Laksa Sarawak guys.
Personally for me i like laksa sarawak from King Laksa Restaurant in Kuching or Samarahan in Sarawak. My house near Samarahan. But in KL, i guess you can go to Dapur Sarawak, Dayang Sarawak Corner or maybe Kedey Kamek. Spend some time in Kuching you can try mee kolok, mee sapi, mee belacan, mee jawa with satey in it, three layered tea, kek lapis and many more. Besides Penang and Kelantan, Sarawak also famous with their food.
yes, havent tried laksa sarawak myself in my 29years of life.. thing is it's hard to find people selling it in semenanjung.. but recipe itself looks a lot similar to the nyonya curry laksa. wonder whats the difference.
The paste is different. Bihun is used instead of mee. Other ingredients are taugeh, prawn, limau kasturu, belacan .... It does not taste like nyonya curry laksa. Like Kumar said, you have to try it to know it tastes definitely better than curry laksa. If it tastes like curry, it is not authentic Sarawak laksa. In the past, the Sarawak laksa sold in West Malaysia tasted more like curry laksa to me. Now it is getting better.
Proud Johorean here (I'm also extremely proud of my state's laksa) but I'll give my vote for Sarawak Laksa any day 😍 Savoury, peppery, warm and comforting! Thanks for sharing the recipe 😊
Most Sarawakians have their own personal favorite laksa place in Kuching or other places within Sarawak (some not even on the popular list), because of one secret ingredient, memories since childhood that goes along with the bowl. But do come and try, there is the Malay style and the Chinese style, both as good.
Salute u guys for making the paste from scratch.... I think u guys can add more paste into the broth so it would be more flavourful... As for laksa place in Kuching, Sarawak I would suggest : 1. Choon Hui Cafe (of course) @ Jalan Ban Hock 2. Chong Choon Cafe @ Jalan Chan Chin Ann 3. ON3 Kopitiam @ Jalan Song
Yup. I also really love laksa sarawak. I'm 24 & I just tried it last year & immediately fall in love with the taste. My mom is from Kedah so, we always ate laksa kedah but laksa sarawak is my fav now. sorry mom😂
I commend you both for trying to make Laksa Sarawak from scratch... certainly not the easiest thing to do. That is why many Sarawakians prefer to buy the paste instead. I think you can also get them online. I think the Bayan Bird Brand is the pioneer of the packet paste. By the way... you can't be generous with the coconut milk because laksa Sarawak may use coconut milk in it but not in generous amount or else it will overpower the whole taste. Same with chillies. I read somewhere that the late Anthony Bourdain wanted to bring laksa Sarawak to the US back then but not sure if he managed to do that before he passed on... As for the best laksa in Sarawak... Anthony Bourdain had his at Choon Hui Cafe. Another good one is at Chong Choon (Poh Lam stall) Cafe. Both are in Kuching. Mom's Laksa Kopitiam is another one where you can get a good one (halal). We've tried other places and they are just as nice. I had one in 2004 at Serapi Corner (halal)... they did their both a bit thicker and spicier. That's basically the differences that you will get.
Laksa Sarawak is the bomb. It is best fresh from the stall but if not available there is instant noodle packet which taste amazing too. I bought many packets of it from Kuching
Best place to try Laksa Sarawak is in Kuching! You can try Choong Choon Cafe in Jalan Chan Chin Ann or Golden Arch Cafe in Jln Dato Tawi Sili, or 126 Laksa. Make sure you go early in the morning!
Come to Kuching Sarawak... Definitely you will love to try laksa Sarawak. Sarawak famous with Laksa Sarawak, Mee Kolok, Ayam Pansuh (chicken cook inside bambool & Sayur Midin. You should try all of this food. Please come to Sarawak
35 years, never tried laksa sarawak and now an american woman cooked it for you.. the way of this universe works is simply the best

Slurrpp.. terliur pula tiba² 🥲
I’m speechless and in awe to see Rachel and kid enjoying Asian food. Kumaar, salute to you coz you truly make this mix marriage life amazingly beautiful. I am impressed. And Rachel, you are one superb lady. God bless you and family
Malaysian food, to be exact...
Lama tak makan laksa sarawak.
I’m Sarawakian and I’m so happy to see you and Rachel really enjoy eating Laksa Sarawak. Suddenly craving nak makan 😂.
Please try it!
Making from scratch? U guys are great & awesome.. We usually use packed paste, all time favourite is Hj Manan Sarawak Laksa Paste..
Finally You made my homestate favourite of the year, laksa sarawak.
Laksa Sarawak is the boss of the breakfast in sarawak state but other than Laksa, you should Try Mee Kolok, Mee Pok, Mee Sapi from sarawak as well.
But i want to see Rachel to masak Nasi Goreng Dabai !.
where you find dabai in US??
@@pelayarzero7805 US dosen't have Dabai. Only in Sarawak
Mana nk cari dabai kat US? Ada ke?
@@nurizzatikamarudin9161 tak ada kak
mcm mna nk goreng nasi dabai kalau xde dabai...satu cara je...pos kat diorg...hntar laksa paste..dabai..terubuk masin..kek lapis..klau aku org srwak mmg aku hantar pnye
(Kai kai doesn't fancy bee hoon? haha)
Oh my gosh. That’s a brilliant description! Curry + Penang prawn Mee. Ky Ky likes the noodles the best! Haha
@@KumaarFamily Curry (kawin) Penang Prawn Mee (with added belacan). Best of both worlds haha....
They use a lot of belacan in Sarawak. If I’m not mistaken, Laksa Sarawak is usually served with sambal belacan too
Yes, Laksa sarawak the Breakfast of the gods, for me it is the best Laksa ever. 👌 so glad you make yours from scratch. But you should try the original in Sarawak it self. Truly the Breakfast of the gods.
In this case, your Governor and Premier are "The Gods"! Just kidding, Sarawak is amazing though (I'm a Sabahan)!
I’m a Sarawakian and I am glad that like Sarawak Laksa. That’s my favorite breakfast 😃. Anyways in Sarawak, for me, the best Laksa is in Kuching, Sarawak. Places in Kuching, Sarawak that I can recommend are:
1. Choon Hui Cafe
2. Chong Choon Cafe
3. Madam Tang’s Cafe
4. Mom’s Laksa
These are my favorite spot to have Laksa Sarawak for breakfast. I hope to see you visit Sarawak ☺️☺️🙏🏻
I'd like to add on.
5. Fat Cat Laksa
@@darellmitchell5504 Hi Darell, thanks for the recommendation
100% agree. Choon Hui cafe is the one Anthony Bourdain visited.
The best part is to see Kyran eating the noodles from mum's bowl. The boys definitely have Malaysian palettes!
As a Sarawakian, watching this make me craving for laksa..haha.. Laksa Sarawak is simply the best; like local said; "Nang Antap!!" Good job guys..
A mother's cooking is always the best 👍
You are just a proud Malaysian that made all Malaysians proud of Malaysian foods.
Finally!!!! When im in Sarawak I only have Laksa Sarawak for breakfast everyday!!! One of my fav dishes...............FYI you should go over and try the laksa made by the locals its even more amazing! You should try the laksa with kolo mee noodle, the flavour combo in the laksa is amazing!
I m a Sarawakian. . Hebat you bro. Thanks Logesh for bring our fav. laksa sarawak to the world. proud of you bro.
One thing I love about Logesh is his pure reaction never lies! Keep it up man.
The laksa looks delicious! Good job in preparing it from scratch!
Proud of you Logesh & Rachel. Im from Kuching,Sarawak and working in Kuwait. If you trip to Kuching, drop by at King Laksa at Icom square or Pak Amit Cafe,Matang for Laksa ya.
Congratulations for being able to make Sarawak laksa USA. Best part of it all both of you enjoyed the delicious laksa. 👍👨👩👧👧

Sarawak Corner at Restoran Mei Sek, 12, Jalan USJ 14/1k, Usj 6, 47630 Subang Jaya, Selangor
Here you go!
There's a lot of fantastic laksa sarawak place in Kuching (as i am from Kuching and of course many more places around Sarawak). Just come over and explore. And if you come to Kuching, you should try rojak mee aswell.. I can guarantee you and your wife will love the rojak mee too 😍😍😍
Luv you Kumar Family... A Malaysian and an American...its just like you are really meant for each other.
You guys Kumar,Rachel and your baby are just awesome....Perhaps the only word to describe you both is BEAUTIFUL
Aunty Christina's Sarawak Laksa in Petaling Jaya. Was in Lucky Garden, Bangsar.
1. Mom's Laksa and 2. Signature Madam Tang's cafe is the best place to try Laksa Sarawak!!
Hello from Sarawak, Laksa Sarawak has been my comfort food ever since my childhood. The broth, noodles, condiments blends well together. Order it with a glass of Teh C Special Peng and you're breakfast is complete.
Of all the laksas, laksa Sarawak is my favourite!
Im in awe to see Rachel and Logesh make Laksa Sarawak from scratch. even most of my relatives that cook laksa they just buy the laksa paste.. Good job ,guys. Maybe you guys can try mee kolok next..
Try Laksa Sarawak at Mom's Laksa in Kuching... one of among restaurants cook good laksa
woaa from scratch in US...wahlaueh....big thumbs up! nak racik ayam tu lagi senang kalau pakai hand mixer
Huge respect ,even me as sarawakian, we didn't make it from scratch. We buy paste
For me the best would be in kuching, and i'm from miri sarawak. Infact every town in sarawak have their very best version. When it comes to laksa sarawak it's really hard to tell them apart. I won't be recommending any particular shop, but the rule of thumb is where the locals go that is where the action is.😄
I have to agree with you, you won't get the best laksa sarawak in other states in malaysia.
Hi if you’re in KL, you can try Kedey Kamek in TTDI or Dapur Sarawak. I’m sure there’s Sarawakian restaurants in Klang too but I’ve never been there.
Bravo to Rachel for cooking, first time trying out laksa Sarawak at that. I too have trouble cutting galangal. 😁
Period.
Hahahaha at last...the video that ive been waiting for....
Well done and awesome Rachel. Big thumbs up to both of you 👍👍👍👏👏👏
Personally for me i like laksa sarawak from King Laksa Restaurant in Kuching or Samarahan in Sarawak.
I'm amazed, you are making it from scratch. Where here we just bought laksa paste....thumbs up dear Malaysian.....
Rachel.. you are an amazing "Sarawakian" chef, luvs both of you from Malaysia. 💚💚💚
yes, havent tried laksa sarawak myself in my 29years of life.. thing is it's hard to find people selling it in semenanjung.. but recipe itself looks a lot similar to the nyonya curry laksa. wonder whats the difference.
Proud Sarawakian here! Thank you soo much for the love that you guys have for our Laksa Sarawak. It is indeed the best laksa in the world!
Im sarawakian and highly recommend this Laksa Sarawak to entire world 😃 got to try at Mom’s Laksa in Kuching. Grab it now
Salute u guys for making the paste from scratch.... I think u guys can add more paste into the broth so it would be more flavourful... As for laksa place in Kuching, Sarawak I would suggest :
1. Choon Hui Cafe (of course) @ Jalan Ban Hock
2. Chong Choon Cafe @ Jalan Chan Chin Ann
3. ON3 Kopitiam @ Jalan Song
Yup that’s right
Awesome list! Thank you.
Why don't you used laksa paste. Easy n convenience.
more contents like this 😊..masak mknan Malaysia mcm ICHANG & JIMMY ❤
Yup. I also really love laksa sarawak. I'm 24 & I just tried it last year & immediately fall in love with the taste. My mom is from Kedah so, we always ate laksa kedah but laksa sarawak is my fav now. sorry mom😂
In KL to try laksa sarawak, Dayang Sarawak Corner, Salted Sarawak, Dapur Sarawak
Next boleh cuba masak Bubur Pedas Sarawak✌️
Jangan risau. Saya pon x pernah cuba laksa Sarawak 🤧 tp, suatu hari nanti, sya nk pergi sarawak dan cuba sendiri!!🔥🔥🔥
Would love to visit Sarawak & taste the real deal one day!
Anthony Bourdain (may he rest in peace)...he really was the best. Great video as always Racheal and Kumar :)
Abang Kumar n kak Rachel muke berseri seri..cun hensom
I'm very proud of this dish. It can be a hit in any place around the world, believe me.
Try *kolok mee*, one of the best and popular + most delicious dish in Sarawak. I'm proud I'm Sarawakian. 😃. You both are awesome
