Christchurch is the largest city in South Island New Zealand with a population of around 390,000 people. It is one of the world’s most unique destinations, combining urban regeneration and innovation with heritage, culture and exhilarating activity. This year New Zealand marks Christchurch earthquake 10th anniversary. On Tuesday 22 February 2011 Christchurch was badly damaged by a magnitude 6.3 earthquake, which killed 185 people and injured several thousand. Many heritage buildings were heavily damaged, over a quarter of the buildings in the central business district were demolished. Christchurch rebuild is still working in progress and aiming to develop Christchurch into an innovative and modern community.
New Zealand border opened to Australia on 19 April which made the quarantine free travel finally happen between two nations. We hope NZ will open to more countries soon and travel will be back to normal.

I grew up in Christchurch, went to Sydney for a holiday July 2010 when I was 20, earthquakes happened so I stayed here. I'm 31 now I got old real fast haha. Anyways I'm homesick watching this video. Thank you

My Olde Hometown Dont look the same, as i stepped down from the train. I sold newspapers as a kid right over the road from the Bridge of Remembrance, on the corner outside what was then called Kiddies Corner. All gone now. Such a crying shame whats happened to that city, and last week with the floods, what next! Twas a fantastic city to be raised in, just super.
That's beautiful memories with the city bro. I was surprised on the changes of Christchurch when i visited. It's been healed and will be getting better. It's a great city.
I will be in Christchurch next month. I am looking forward to seeing some great scenery.

This place is so calm and quite, hardly I see very few people on roads and no traffic..is it all day long like this ?? My country India is opposite of this
It's still early on Monday morning. This is downtown shopping street, it'll be quite busy during the day. But New Zealand only have less than 5 million people in total, you will never see that crowd like india:)

Wow, Christchurch looks stunning! nothing like i remember. I left in 2012 after the quakes, moved to western australia. after 10 years ive decided to come back for a visit. I'll be there in two months time, super looking forward to it!

Great video. I grew up in Christchurch, moved to Sydney in 1986, then Singapore for 10 years and now back in Sydney. I can't recognise ChCh anymore, but I can't wait to go back for a visit.

Great great city. I was there briefly before going to Antarctica in Sept & Feb loved my time there. Just remember for Americans the cars come the opposite way. One or two close calls for myself lol

New Zealand is warmer than Canada in winter. South island can be coldest to -10 centigrade and north island is around -2

I plan to make a WHV in NZ or Australia (but I prefer Kiwi than Kangaroos ahah).. but I hesitate between Wellington and Christchurs, what is better ? if you know Wellington

Both cities are beautiful. I like Wellington better personally though it is very cute. If you're looking for more job opportunities, Christchurch is a better choice. I just travelled to welly last week and will upload a video soon:)
