Thanks for the upload Brent, I am restoring a T1N on my channel, I will have to start looking at the mechanical side of things shortly so these videos are priceless
Thanks for sharing what you have learned with others! I have a 2004 passenger 158" HT with a non functional booster and aux hydronic heater for the "cargo" area that I am going to delve into. Previous owner purposely kinked the line after the aux water pump died.
I have the same 2006 Dodge Sprinter van. However, my heater booster is missing. I don't know if it ever had one or (I don't know why) the 2 owners b4 me removed it. But I'm needing one now since it is 26° in where I am. Thanks for the vid. It was very helpful!!!
great video! ... mine was on tropical weather, so that is missing... but I'd like to see the rest of the system.. is there some pump, termostat or anything connected to the pipes?
Thanks Brent, really useful seeing how the unit comes out and disassembles. I’ve got one in my 02 sprinter and it’s started smoking whenever I turn on at the dash. I read somewhere could be caused by a sooty glow plug but didn’t see any glow plugs in your video. Any thoughts/ideas appreciated
Hey, thanks for this video. I bought a 05 Sprinter last week and realized just today that it is equipped with the heater booster. My original plan when purchasing the van is to convert it to a camper. I have another van into which i installed a Chinese diesel heater but this factory booster heater might just do what I need. Have you considered rewirering it to be independent of the van’s design and run out of the “house” battery ?
Thanks Tons for posting this video! It looks to me like maybe that blower fan can be accessed without removing it from the vehicle. Is that right? Also it seems the bumper is not in the way...?
Nice video Brent. I had the same issue. You can try to replace your engine thermostat. Not hard to do.It worked on mine and now I have warm engine every time I drive.
Hello mate - have you ever replaced the heater matrix? Mine is leaking right up the top near (in the engine bay) where it connects to the auxiliary/ rest water pump 😢
Thank you! Could you post a picture of the control unit on dash for your version? I’m trying to figure out if my 2004 has the same system or not. Mine does not require engine to be running to turn on.
Great video thank you for posting it . Can you telll me how I can control the booster so it comes on automatically to heat the water without being in the van Is it an additional water temperature booster or will it work on its own when the temperature drops as in UK it’s cold every morning in winter and want to get it working before I start the van
I have a 2002 tn1 sprinter and have an extra button on the consort/dash it appears to have an additional cold weather engine block heater as there's an exhaust pipe underneath . My question I was under the impression you could run the heater, without the ignition on can you confirm?
I have seen videos where you can rewire it to run on a timer but I have not done it and I would imagine it would wear down the battery fast as it uses power to power the fan system and coolant pump
Yes I have exactly that , I'll try tomorrow but I know off memory the switch does not light up even if the ignition is turned to position 2 WITHOUT START .......so I will start the engine tomorrow and then see if that light comes on via the switch
Thank you. My aux water pump wasn't working, replaced it now I'll work on the heater.

Thank you!!! I’ll be fixing mine today 👍👍

Passenger vans it was an option. Cargo and emergency vans it was standard. Passenger vans had a separate heater for cabin heat that was much larger.
Thank you and a good cherry 🍒 pop for you tube. I am going to try this out.

Not sure I didn't dig any further. Sorry
Thanks for the video! Being in Michigan does this repair help you start your van in very cold temps?

It probably does not have one in there.

Mine is just a button on the hvac controls. Engine has to be running. Some have A timer setup, but mine does not

You have to program the timer. Rectangle box left of the 12volt socket and right of shifter
👍
I believe these heater boosters have a glow plug devise can you give me any more info. please ?
Thanks for your video .
Do you know where is the fuse located for this heater ?
Fuse panel on side of driver seat. Says aux heater I believe.
Thanks

Yeah if you have the little muffler in the driver side front wheel well it's for this unit.

Yes it warms your block up so when it is cold 🥶 outside. I seen where people use this to keep the van warm when camping in it. You need to batteries
