I love your intro to this. It's exactly cynical enough and not a drop too much. :) Great video. Another added tension putting pressure on the entire sitch.
thanks, that's the line we all have to walk. And not just for youtube content but with actual prepping in general. We have to be purposefully 'paranoid' to a certain level (compared to average) but not let that take over and descend into delusion.
Def agree. When I see your vids, I always get the impression that we're in just about the same ballpark in terms of that balance. By the way, have you used the "new" gas can valves that have come out in the past few years. They're supposed to be safer, and in my area aparently they're required by law interms of new gas cans being sold. I'vegot a lot of gas stored here and cycle through it regularly and MAN do I hate it when I get to one of the new cans. Those valves are so awkward and spill-prone vs the simple old ones. I'm not sure in what way the new can valves are supposed to be safer - other than offering a safe padding on the sales since they cost way more than the old ones used to (accepting for inflation). Anyhow, if you're looking for more cans, and haven't used those new style ones, definitely check one out and try it out before you go buying a ton of them. You might regret it.@@TheLordHumungus
Yeah i also despise any of those new style cans, and refuse to use them. I stick exclusively to the jerry cans. Yeah its definitely some kind of legislation that caused it, but not sure of the exact ostensible purpose.
Well. One difference with the new style (aside from them being awkward and prone to fuel spilling when used) I HAVE noticed that they don't naturally vent off gas when the cans heat and cool in the changing of temperatures so the cans themselves puff up under high pressure and sometimes even round off at the bottom - risking rolling over. So... maybe companies who sell gas-spill cleanup supplies lobbied for the change? ;) JK, I honestly don't know. But I do hate when products are improved by making them worse.@@TheLordHumungus
I try to keep 3 full tanks of gas on hand which works out to about 100 gallons for my truck. But I am burning it off right now so that I can refill with fresh, so I don't have much right now. Lets hope the prices don't spike too quickly or too high!
Because of living in the boonies, I have a full truck tank of extra gas fuel. Both vehicles. One 14 gal and of 30 gal. I also keep extra fuel for both diesel vehicles. Tractor and side by side. Another 23 gal. All stored in an out building with fuel stabilizer. All rotated monthly.
On the Fords, reach a thin punch or screw driver into each side of the fill tube, to release the flapper, to allow a narrow funnel into the gas fill tube, to top off with gas can. I do it every six months to rotate my gennie gas..
shuffling fuel around is a huge pain, and like you, I currently has several cans empty. I think I own 8 total. Keeping it fresh, and rotated is necessary, but it's a big hassle.
I have 12 five gallon cans, use sta-bil, rotate one can each week. Add one can to my truck each week, then refill gas can & add Sta-bil. All 12 cans will be rotated every 12 weeks. I use metal eagle type I safety cans.
Amazon cans "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location" I hate California. I would have gas stored up if I could get a proper storage container.
I don't like to keep too much because I worry about it going bad. Usually have 80-100 liters of no-ethanol fuel in cheap gerry cans with stabilizer. Make sure to cycle through it and refill, deep pantry style.
Home Depot carries them, though not available in every location. for example the one in my zip code does not have them, but 26 miles away has 80 in stock.
which ones? There are a lot of versions of the metal cans that look EXACTLY like the wavian ones, but they are trash. They simply do not last. they rust out, the seams split, the gaskets and spouts are shoddy and leak. If they aren't the wavian or scepter, I highly suggest skipping and spend the extra $$
Funny, this is something I've been thinking about for the last month or more. I've been looking for a 50+ gallon storage tank that I can run genny's or vehicles on if need be. I'm not sure I want to go full axillary for the truck because that can make it harder to use for other things.
Ask not how much strategic reserves does my country have, ask yourself how many days of strategic fuel reserves do you yourself have? Ditto with food, water, medicine, communications, guns, gold and a Civil Defense Plan. BTW: a used in excellent condition 55 gallon metal barrel can be had for $30 or less. Get the ones with removable tops.
exactly. Relying on the govt is bad business! The drums can work great for storage (probably illegal though so be careful) but they don't help as much if you have to hit the road and take fuel with you.
Yeah the US has massive potential supply, but most is locked up in oil sand/shale, and in AK. Might still be that much, but its expensive to get and we would have to build out the infrastructure to pump it, would not be available right away.
yeah if its just another Hamas tantrum. However if Iran is involved, or if its part of some kind of larger plan, who knows. I've heard they have captured like 30 Israeli soldiers.
It costs the same to have a full tank as a half-full tank. When you factor in need. 20 gallons in storage at all times if possible is a great idea. In today's world, I would keep the tank full at all times. I have 5 vehicles all full and an RV with 50 gallon tank, also full. I do not need 5 vehicles but since I have not sold some yet, full/ Options. Israel event is just another bullet point in the future WW III history
The reason that company probably can't ship into the US is likely liability from people doing stupid things with gasoline in portable cans and then successfully suing the manufactures. I have noticed some manufactures have placed "Kerosine Only" in an attempt to reduce exposure. It is assumed the person would use it for gasoline and if they did something stupid, they might be prevented from recovering. Some gas can manufacturers have gone out of business from plaintiff tort attorneys obtaining judgements for Darwin Award Winners. I think the juries were stupid also. The Israelis should make short work of the Palestinian operation. Iran can't really get to Israel. Israel has secured the Golan Heights and Lebanon fronts. There is no place to conduct a well supported attack. The war can't go anywhere.
God bless you for your continued service.
Got 15 wavian cans, they are great.
15, Nice!! This is the way.
Even if we get a government that allows energy independence. It will take years. Also glad to see ur recovering

Good ad vise
Yep!👍...Coincidentally im just about on my.way to the petrol station to fill a couple of jerry cans..
Eric! Miss you in Gville. Long time subscriber.
thanks for sticking around!
I saw some Scepter cans on Ebay recently.

Your hair looks great!
Oh my. I’m going to buy gas tomorrow for the first time since June. I hope they still have some.
and remember for everyone that has fuel cans, make sure you are rotating the stock.
definitely. The stabil buys time, but you can't just forget it for years.

I just paid $6/gallon for gas at the cheap station... we going to $10?
20

I was told by a retired Airman we have enough oil under America to wage a 300 year war with our current tech. That’s here tho

its not a bad idea to stock up on flue. sooner or latter you will use it. I have a few cans empty myself. I plan to fill them soon
vegas is a nuclear target and high zombie density hardly worth preparing there
its always worth preparing. ESPECIALLY with high zombie density.
But if you'd like to buy me a rural sheep farm, I accept
