LeRon Jon Training, but also our understanding of the human body has greatly increased, from nutrition, to muscle targeting, pace specific workouts, understanding of slow/fast twitch. The list goes on. I’m excited to see what the next few decades can bring!

It's not like the human genome has magically gotten better over the past century. All that increase is due to shoes, specialized diets, not running on dirt (all tracks from that era were literally dirt) MUCH more intense training, and of course, performance-enhancing drugs.

@@thehimanshu195my current pr is 5:38. Stamina/endurance is a big deal but also your lactate threshold. That means how long you can go before your muscles start getting that dreaded burning sensation. So yeah, just run a lot, go on long, moderate pace runs and recover well(listen to ur body. If you’re too sore you should take a rest or massage the area, stuff like that). Sry for the paragraph but yeah there’s a lot that comes into play for better performance in the mile/long distance races.
