    I have no reason to not like Chapman's, and I think they make some good guitars. But for £500 I just got a new PRS SE 24 standard and it blows these out the water. I've been playing 20 years now and had a brand new Gibson Les Paul standard, lots of fender MIM strats and can hand on heart say the PRS is just crazy for the price. Looks amazing (like it should be 3x the price) and feels amazing and sounds amazing. No offence chapman but in the £500 range I truly believe there is alot better competitors, and look at the new squire range....wow, and there £100+ less. Like I say I don't hold any grudges but I just don't think the £500 range holds its own to what others are providing.

    What I don't get is why Chapman doesn't offer non reversed headstocks and regular dot inlays instead of having the tramp stamp on every guitar, for a guy like me it's an automatic dismissal, same as with Solar guitars. yeah, but its understandable. People like what they like. You're not wrong for it. Just like I wanted one of these guitars to have at least one HSS model with a hardtail. I didn't get what I wanted either. maybe next time

    • @andreasmusicdude8652

      The regular headstock is not licensed by fender, that's why they are upside down.

    • @Cashrock
      @Cashrock 3 роки тому +4

      @@boggeshzahim3713 yeah because using a strat body shape, a copy of a tele headstock is the height of originality, and if you think using a tramp stamp makes them unique you need to get out more. Not offering regular headstock or dot inlays in some models is a bad financial move, it's that simple. A lot of players don't like these things so you're just limiting your market by not doing it, and by a sizeable chunk, it makes little sense.

    • @Cashrock
      @Cashrock 3 роки тому +2

      @@andreasmusicdude8652 their headstock is different enough from the tele one that they won't get a C&D, so there is no reason it can't be regular instead of reversed.

Not to mention their awesome playing which never lets down

  • @sonord2074
    @sonord2074 3 роки тому +2

    Hey andertons, to address your comment about demoing pickups in a shootout, you should check out the 'Somnium' (i think that's what it was called) brand tele Phil McKnight has been using. It let's you plug in any pickup instantly, given a little setup before hand, so you can take the guitar variable out of the testing and just hear pickup differences. You still have to take some amount of a leap when you buy them for your own guitar but this kind of test is great to inform people on the exact differences between pickups without the variable of 'tonewood' in the mix 😂
    Obviously you don't sell that guitar but you COULD use one for pickup demos and though Phil is already doing this and we love his videos, you do have access to a larger variety of pickups I imagine. Partnership opportunity? Have Phil on!

    How many HOBBY guitarists have EVER had to replace the frets on one of their guitars?!!?
    Fret longevity shouldn't even be a consideration for amateur guitar players... Unless you just slide between the same 2 power chords for a solid 8 hours a day, most home players really don't have to worry about their frets wearing down prematurely.
    For amateur players, the only consideration of fret material should be based on whether they feel different, or find whichever guitar has had the most pleasing fret work.

      Internet ramblings, imo. I bought a Chapman Ghost Fret Pro and it didnt have any defects or issues, with exception to a couple scratches on the case, but... it's a case.

      I have an ML3 Standard V2, and it has no issues, the build quality is really nice, and the neck in particular feels awesome. The only issue is I stupidly bought the Traditional and really should have bought the Modern, the 9.5" radius kills me.

    Greatly moved by the warm feel of cap’s playing style on the neck pickup. Less is more, definitely.

    Just got my Majesty BFR the other day, now the next one to debate over is going to be either a PRS or a Chapman. Then after those are acquired, a Les Paul.

      It’s got to be a PRS then Les Paul!

    Just for the info, the radius is not 12 inch but almost 14 inch (thus flatter)...

    Have you considered using the Pickup Generator plugin by Jason McNamara that Henning Pauly uses for showing currently played pickup combination on screen in his videos? It's a pretty nice way to complement guitar demo videos. (No affiliation, BTW, just thought about it now watching Pete pointing at pickups while playing.)

      Last time I saw them locally was about 2 years ago, heavily discounted. Nobody was buying them. I never really understood who they were intended for, outside the Andertons' fans. If you're looking for an affordable "modern" guitar I have no clue why you would pick a Chapman over something like an Ibanez in a similar price range. Especially, if you consider that on the used market the Ibanez will hold it's value much better.

      Where do you live? Picking one up on a genuine sale, and not a marketing "sale" would be quite awesome

    • @JakubKazmierski
      @JakubKazmierski 3 роки тому +4

      @Mark Seymour When I was talking to the sales guy, he said the reason they were so heavily discounted was because too many had QA issues when compared to other guitars in similar price range. That, and they weren't selling very well. To to be clear I only asked offhand why so many were on sale, I was looking at something else...and it was only one sales rep. This was about 2 years ago, and now they no longer carry any.
      Let's just say, for the sake of the argument, that Chapman Guitars are at least on par with other brands like Ibanez at a similar price range. However, the resale value argument applies to most people, buying a brand new guitar. I'm yet to meet a guitar player that doesn't go through that upgrade process at some point. So why would you not consider resale value?

    I've got both the original ML1 & the hot blue Ml3. I've been looking for an hss for a while now and I really like that one Pete was playing at the start. Do they come with a case like the original ML1 Pro did or will that be an extra expense?

    • @andertons

      Sounds like one of these will be a fine addition to your Chapman collection? Unfortunately they do not come with a case, so that will be an added expense.
