Playing with my son today and found a 2 star boar and yes, he was beside a Boar Runestone, so you are correct and I found it out earlier today!

There was a Valheim Podcast a little while ago in which the author of the texts on the runestones said that those runestones is NO spawner, that is a fan-made myth

Interesting method. I've certainly found my share of two star boars near those runes.

I've never found the spawn rate around the boar rune stones to be all that great. Also, every two-star boar I've ever encountered was found at night. That might not be a requirement, but it might raise your chances.
Night time does increase the odds of two stars spawning. And I believe traveling a ways away from the starting location helps also.
Was gonna say the same thing. Anecdotally, I've found the 2 star boar only at night. This might be part of the world-wide spawn code - 2 stars more likely at night. Was certainly true of wolves...

My boar runestones are always empty and barren with no boars to be found nearby. They're always super far away from the runestone.

Oh thank God! I found a 2 star boar whilst sailing and tamed it and bred a boat herd up to 20 strong then a swamp Raid killed the lot. Now I can replace them more easily. 🙏🏻
yeah, i learned from something similar always have multiple herds spread out so they can't be wiped out by enemy mobs
Thanks for tip! I think distance doesn't need to be that far. I've 2 boar runestones close to my starting point and base about 150-200m away and I got 2 stars boar from one of them
additional top: leave food (shrooms/berries, personally i'd go shrooms as berries are used in queens jam) at the runestone and they'll start to tame themselves. might be worth penning the area around the runestone to keep them confined/protected, fence is ok for confining a 0 star but even a 1 star did quite some damage to my pen when i lured it back, so recommend the spiked log wall also better for defence.
they dont get tamed without you going there regulary so they can acustom to you

You can also push boars into the backs of carts, so once u get a 2star you can transport them back to your base if needed.

Distance from the starter island is a BIG factor.
Finally found a 2 star boar after maybe 6 to 8 hours of searching and clearing two runestones. So! Has anyone ever gotten a boar to ride in a cart, using the ramp and deleted-the-platform placement method? I've had a lot of trouble transporting boars on a longship - one was killed by an underwater rock on the first, minor damage pass. Argh.
Edit for results: it works well. I have done it twice now, only with Piggies, not grown boars. Twice the piggy jumped out of the cart when I was attacked by a neck, but I was able to recover one of them.

Just saw this. Good to know! The only problem or tip with your method is that boars which are spawned via the rune stone are tied to it. So even if you tame them, they will always try to run back to the stone. But you could maybe use it to breed at the stone and then take those 2 star offspring back to your base if you don't want to keep breeding at the stone.

@@daveyfrancy3118 my comment is 2 years old mate. Back then boar runestones were one-offs for multiple boars, but that "horde" never respawned. Boars' respawn was by single at a time, hordes never respawned.
But again, that was 2 years ago. I don't know if they changed that, haven't played since then.

I have never seen a boar runestone spawn a boar with even 1 star. There's a 2-star on a different island but I'm not sure I can transport it to my main base as a solo player. They only seem to respawn with the exact same star rating in the same area, same with all other critters I've seen.
leave shrooms at the runestone, kill the others then get out the area, 2 star will eat the food and end up being tamed, then you can push it onto a karve/longboat and sail it back. or just build an boar pen outpost around the runestone.

You can use a harpoon to drag boars around. Just be ready for them to run around when you finally release them.
They'll follow you for a VERY long time, just don't let them break line of sight on you and they stay argo'd
If they are already tamed, your best bet is to pen them close together so that they breed, then kill the original pair once there are piglets rnmunning around. The original ones will always try to return to their spawn point, which is working against your relocation needs.
oh, I was wondering at first why on my first world there are lots of boars gathering around 3 runestones!

What's the matter with wanting a boar-2-star-farm, when your boar spawner and your massive killing just to get to a 2-star-boar will result in sooo much boar meat and leather straps, that the farm itself becomes less important than the spawner alone ... But many thanks about explaining, what stops the spawners from respawning.
You are correct. In one world we had a base between two boar runestones. With that and the meat we collected while running around, we didnt bother with breeding. But most of my games I do the breeding so I dont have to bother with it. Bag space is so limited that when I am out running around I try to minimize what I am picking up.

So! Get a good distance away from start-location, and also kill everything around the Boar-Stone. I was about to go to sleep, but who needs that?? Jumping back in!

There's a minimum distance from spawn for higher rank creatures to spawn. If I recall, it's 800m for 1 star, and 2000m for 2 star.

Are you sure? i have to try only found 1 star wolfes, deer and boar. but 2 start spawns from greydwarf nests or od those work in a diffrent way?
You are correct. 2 star (anything) can be anywhere when the world is generated. I had a 2 star troll in a troll cave right next to the start (forsaken stones) with this seed HHcLC5acQt. But if you are trying to find a two star boar where you need one and you dont just luck into one then a reliable method is to find a boar runestone and work it until one spawns. For the distance, according to the wikis, boar runestones have a good chance to level up the boars on respawn (after you kill them all) and according to the boar page you need to be at least 800 m away from the start for that to happen. thanks for the video, but i simply cannot get runestones to spawn more boars. i have tried with about 10 different ones, each over 800m from spawn, and cleared all the area around them.
i have put a portal quite some distance away - mayve 4 times the range of a workbench, so i can travel to check for respawns, but i have yet to see a respawn. must be 2 in game weeks at least across 10 stones...no respawns.
any tips? thanks!
Here is a link (Valheim Wiki) to items that will stop them from spawning. Try destroying your portal and benches and see if they spawn. valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base

Did something change? I found like 4 stones and nearly no boars around them( not like in the vid) - some of them are just sitting almost entirely in plain field/grass.
EDIT: distance to spawn might play a role here it seems and stones spawn them just once?
Same here. I found two and nothing is spawning i have killed them an waited but no new spawns :/ did it gotten patched out?
@@lasseschweer7737 Raizzer explained, that every living thing near the stones need to be removed, probably. For me there always were Necks around and deers as well, so improve line of sight by uprooting the trees and removing the undergrowth in that whole area.

Very good guide! Try to make video more catchy.
If the land mass does not spawn 2 star deer, neck and 2 star wolves, the chance of finding 2 star boar is slim to none. The same applies for finding 2 star wolves. Boar are very easy to transport using boats, wolves not so much. Wolves will jump overboard to attack sea serpents, so one should hug the coastline.
-deer and neck spawns are pure RNG
- 2 star wolves can be found on any mountain that spawns wolves, and has to be found at night.
It must be placed in a hole it can’t escape from before day break, or it will run away and despawn.
You must also stay near that wolf in the day time or it will despawn, even if you e already used admin commands to take it, and you’ve even named it… if it was born wild (not bred from a pup by you)
It will despawn in the daytime if you’re not within like 20 meters of it.
So once you’ve got you’re tamed wolf in a hole and you’ve managed to not despawn it, you need to tame an additional wolf (any wolf only one needs to be 2 star)
And breed them, then when that two star wolf grows up you’ve got your first domesticated wolf… wich will not run away or despawn.
You should stay at your wolf taming base on the foot of the mountain until you have two fully domesticated 2 star wolves…
Even then I’d leave those two at that base as a breeding pair. and wait for them to have two more wolves that you can have follow you to your base…
That way if they don’t make the trip you can return to your wolf pit to try again.
Eventually you’ll have a breeding pair in your main base, if you then set those up in a breeding farm…

How long does it take for them to respawn?
They are supposed to respawn in mins but if you miss killing any of them or you have necks spawning (there is a creature limit) then it gets blocked. Make sure you kill everything around the area.

Just start a new world build a base, spend some time. Eikthyr rallies the forest creatures and the meat comes running to you!

In my first world, I had never found even a single star animal, ever. I'd gotten to the edge of the world in that one, as well. I start a new map with a new character and the first animal I see is a one star boar. Typical.
your first world could be bugged, but you must progress to getting 1 or 2 star animals or mobs spawning anywhere on the map, not just around this runes
@@lMagicKaito I've definitely seen 1-2 star enemies, but animals are very rare in that world. How far into world progression must I be before they begin to spawn, usually? (I've defeated every boss in that world, btw.)

I had a bunch of two star boars, but the fking stupid bats killed all of them and now I can't find another two star boar in the wild.
This didn't work for me at all. Have two rune stones fairly close to my base. Killed everything in the area, waited days, no boars spawned at all.
the problem is if a boar wondered far away from the area it still counts to the creature limit of that area so it will block them from spawning so just go on a murderous rampage for up to 100m in every direction of the boar stone
Unfortunately this method does not work (anymore), since (now) they only spawn ONCE on boar rune stones(?)
Once you capture a boar from a rune stone, the stone vanishes, right? At least it does in my game.

I found a 2☆ Boar at the starting zone in a new world on a 🌧 night.
I notice the game spawns a 1-time only, 1-2☆ Boars randomly at farm locations when making new worlds.

That was the confusing part about the "show useful ruins" bit. I'm still confused but I learned something: KILL BOAR AT SCRIBBLY ROCK! FIND TWO STAR BOAR! Now I will go and try it out.
