Another feature where I don't know who's responsibility it would be to change it would be Plugins for Photoshop. I guess it is the sandboxing in iPad OS which doesn't allow it. The rest would be out of Apple's hand, like a C1 version which supports normal sessions on an external device

Smart Script: It seems to me to be harder for Apple to ‘improve’ your existing cursive handwriting, than just have the option to select an alternative ‘cursive script’ from the many alternative existing text formats. Why not when you can change your exiting cursive to an existing (limited) text format?

I find my iPad struggles when typing in large note files, there is significant lag. Several apps have this issue so I know it is the OS not the apps. Reminds me of IBM computers from the 1980s!
On the notes app, am I making it up or did it appear that you could draw in almost any section of the note? Or is it still ‘you must write in this section and draw in another section only’?

True, best answer to silence them if you tell them Apple was too busy to make the M1 chip what the competitors still can't copy and release before the M4 already hitted the market. Now they have more time to focus on the small things too, while the others are busy to copy the impossible things..
Could u please make a video about iCloud Keychain and password managers and how to integrate them into your Apple devices? It’s difficult to understand:(. Also I’ve red that iOS 18 is going to make an iCloud Keychain “app”. Curious about your thoughts
It really comes down to this: do you trust Apples servers enough to store your protected info. If yes, then Keychain is a decent password manager. If you are like me and are 90% exclusive to Apple, it’s a no brainer. Turn Keychain on on all your Apple devices and instantly all passwords, login info, credit card info, etc is available to all your Apple devices. Best of all - it’s free. The only downside is it only works with Apple Devices (though the Password App may change that). If you have a mix of devices you use: iPhone, android tablet, and windows PC, then a 3rd party password manager that works across all platforms may be a better solution. 3rd party password managers will generally give you some more options than what KeyChain does, but you also generally have to pay for them. I don’t use a 3rd party password manager, so can’t recommend any or no any pricing details.
I love the Math Notes app, but I don’t know if it will help students learn the mechanics of math. If it had an education mode to show how equations are worked out, that would be cool for learning…

Also if Note app have a table-size adjustable feature, and other freely features for the table any close to G-docs, it’d be a brightest day for Apple notes taker like me 🙌🏻😮💨 too limited options right now.
They need to optimize notes for it to be a proper not taking app. I have tried using it as a main app but it simply does not compete with notability or good notes , even with these fancy new features it won’t be optimal for serious note takers. No zoom, and importing notes sucks, I have tried sending my notes from the app but it sends my pages as one huge note ruining it, they need multiple pages
In Photos. The Carrousel. You can't add an album that's under a Folder. I have a Folder called Yard. Under it Impounds and Accident albums. Hitting + to add an album these don't show up. Also in Photos I accident added an album to a folder and I can't get it back out.
I was hoping for a lot of features to distinguish the PRO line from the base iPad. Nothing. Neither of them can run full pro apps or have MacOS like features. (I need the full Logic Pro and Final Cut at least on the PRO to call it PRO, also multiple floating resizable windows, also multiple sources of audio just like on the Mac, i want to play a UA-cam video, fire up Logic Pro and play my guitar over it etc....many more basic stuff to call it PRO.....) until then, the base iPad is good enough. Maybe next year, they can give it another try.
Excellent update. For me, the calculator app will be the most useful. My request: it would be nice to be able to link to specific notes in other apps, for instance in calendar/reminders.
It's a shame that ipados 18 hardly got any of its own features. Almost everything in this video originated with ios 18, and just got passed down, with exception of the new calculator app (although ios 18 has that too) and the tab bar. Don't get me wrong they're great features, but it's just not enough to make ipados worth using for professionals. I hope wwdc next year focuses more on ipados to hopefully give ipads a way to use all that power.
I will just get my HP48 or TI-30 out if I need a good calculator. My iPad doesn't support the stylus anyway, and it has Touch ID (that latter one I'm sorely missing on my iPhone; I will NOT use Face ID because it feels creepy) I think the iPad could really be something good if it was unshackled from all the arbitrary restrictions of its "bespoke" OS. Currently I only have a non-Pro one for future insurance against web browsing on a real computer becoming undoable. (It's been over 3 years since I pulled that trigger; hopefully things will not change much there.)
Everybody was with high expectations, but WWDC was over and I was still waiting for the big features everybody was waiting for. Lots of the new features aren’t really that exciting (sorry, that’s my opinion. You may think otherwise). But I had a lot “I don’t use that, don’t use that, why are they so proud about that change, it’s minor, I don’t really use that” and then it was over. That was it? Maybe if I try first hand I will be more excited about a few improvements, but now I’m still waiting for some excitement. I haven’t seen it.
I have all Apple devices apart from the phone, I find the Samsung top of the range series infinitely better than the iphone, I never warned to the iPhone after I tried Samsung Most of the reason I don't use the Apple family products is because I don't want to be tied to one system. I think it's purely through bitterness of what Google did copying the iPhone. By the way most of the things that you've mentioned in this article, we're available throughout the last decade
I don’t think the Password App is any competition as it doesn’t have features like banking details etc. It is a step up for people who currently use one password for everything though.
I will, no doubt, enjoy all of these new iPad OS features, BUT, iPad OS still doesn’t take advantage of the massive amount of processing power. I was greatly disappointed with Apple’s update.
Wish I was excited about ipadOS…i used to be a diehard ipad fanboy until I used the galaxy tab S8 ultra. I’ll never use anything else. It’s so much better than even the best ipad.
• It's not the best calculator ever, if it doesn't even have the option for RPN. The upcoming calculator app will still be a bit rubbish. • The password app will be kind of lame until one can use it with third-party apps. Back in the day, e.g. Chrome or Firefox could access passwords in the Keychain Access app. On Windows will the password app only be compatible with a Windows installation of Safari? And why not integrate Keychain Access and a password manager? I really hate the fragmentation they've created ever since they started putting password management in Safari and also in the Settings app. Currently passwords can be managed from three different locations. • And finally, the iPad Pro is the equivalent of having a Porsche with a speed limiter set to 40 miles/hr, and really represents Apple's greed. What I would really like is a MacOS mode when the ipad is paired with a keyboard. Oh, but then they wouldn't be able to get some to buy both an iPad and a Mac.
Was hoping for Journal to come to the iPad - nice improvements on IOS though

They need to optimize notes for it to be a proper not taking app. I have tried using it as a main app but it simply does not compete with notability or good notes , even with these fancy new features it won’t be optimal for serious note takers. No zoom, and importing notes sucks, I have tried sending my notes from the app but it sends my pages as one huge note ruining it, they need multiple pages
In Photos. The Carrousel. You can't add an album that's under a Folder. I have a Folder called Yard. Under it Impounds and Accident albums. Hitting + to add an album these don't show up.
Also in Photos I accident added an album to a folder and I can't get it back out.
why does shareplay need to have video chat this seems silly to me...
Waiting impatiently for the updated iPad Mini.
Thanks for the rundown of all the new features!
Me too. I'm just hoping it gets more than a processor boost. The screen feels super outdated now.
@@ProperHonestTech I’ve got the 5th Gen. I’ve started watching content on my iPhone 13 Mini because of the better quality!
When will WhatsApp release in ipad os and watch os?
Oh and u should know many people are struggling with this issue I’ve noticed on different platforms 😅
Excellent update. For me, the calculator app will be the most useful. My request: it would be nice to be able to link to specific notes in other apps, for instance in calendar/reminders.
Thank you great video!
It will be a big iPadOS update, especially with AI 🤖, Apple’s calculator app, and new customization features
What News app?
Like a lot of people , I wish the journal would have been a nice addition to iPad.
I will just get my HP48 or TI-30 out if I need a good calculator. My iPad doesn't support the stylus anyway, and it has Touch ID (that latter one I'm sorely missing on my iPhone; I will NOT use Face ID because it feels creepy)
I think the iPad could really be something good if it was unshackled from all the arbitrary restrictions of its "bespoke" OS. Currently I only have a non-Pro one for future insurance against web browsing on a real computer becoming undoable. (It's been over 3 years since I pulled that trigger; hopefully things will not change much there.)
How about Microsoft?
Finally, a freaking calculator.
Is there a calculator widget?
I assumed there would be, but hadn't checked. Just checked, and no, there isn't... Probably coming in iPadOS 19 😂
Need the M5 chip for that
Everybody was with high expectations, but WWDC was over and I was still waiting for the big features everybody was waiting for.
Yesss!!! 🎉
Is Apple still surveilling user data in iCloud?
With the new password app, they might do so literally without your knowledge
Passwords app needs the ability to import from other apps.
Whelp, my iPad is 6th gen so I’m SOL.
Shucky-darn.
I have all Apple devices apart from the phone, I find the Samsung top of the range series infinitely better than the iphone, I never warned to the iPhone after I tried Samsung
Most of the reason I don't use the Apple family products is because I don't want to be tied to one system.
I think it's purely through bitterness of what Google did copying the iPhone.
By the way most of the things that you've mentioned in this article, we're available throughout the last decade
I don’t think the Password App is any competition as it doesn’t have features like banking details etc. It is a step up for people who currently use one password for everything though.
still ipad its only digital picture stand or netflix player with superior performance with m4.... for me totaly usles
Would have been easier for they just support multi user instead of locking apps.
I will, no doubt, enjoy all of these new iPad OS features, BUT, iPad OS still doesn’t take advantage of the massive amount of processing power. I was greatly disappointed with Apple’s update.
It would be so nice to disable the swipe to turn on the camera - even from a locked screen.
lol I got the beta 3
After years of using a calculator with ads, I just bought a calculator app about 3 weeks ago.
