My husband is a wine maker and lab tech for a VERY large wine company here in America, and I thought I’d let you know that cellaring the average bottle of wine for more than a couple of years will likely end in a bottle of rancid wine or a very vinegar-like drink. There are many wines that are meant to be aged in the bottle, but often times they will age them before they are released for sale. Just want you to make sure that you’re not wasting all of your wines by not drinking them while they are nice! I’m sure you will do your own research and hopefully you can find the most lovely wines to enjoy throughout your thirties and beyond 😊

Loved the Vogue pattern and would love if you make a vlog of you making it, especially the smocking. If your making a pastry base using the ceramic dish either bake the base blind first,line with greaseproof paper or make sure the pie doesn't sit too long or your base will go soggy. I would make a rag rug using the base you've found and left over fabrics.You don't need to use much fabric to make the lengths needed for a fab rug.You can also make a flat rug by weaving the fabric but it's not so soft on the feet.
I agree with you about Op Shops getting ridiculously expensive. I only go to the little church or community ones now. That pie dish would be about 60-70 years old if it's made in Japan. Nice find 😊 xx
Some lovely items Janelle. Op shops are getting dearer here in New Zealand too. I read an article about this, one reason given was the cost of rent for the shops going up but also, something I hadn't considered, was the rising cost of disposing of all the items that were too rubbish to sell. Apparently lots of donations received are not saleable, just junk and have to be dumped by the charity store itself. It was interesting. As usual, enjoyed your video. Take care.
People will donate dirty stuff that needs to be washed (I've seen heavily muddy football boots still wet in their bag) and trashed stuff that's only good for the rag merchants, all this cost money, energy and time, however, this has always been the case, a lot of city second hand stores are just greedy, they're hoping that people will just pay near RRP for their tonnes of bland fast fashion that was received for free, staff take the quality and quirky stuff.
One of my tips is also to check all of the sections at the op shop, you never know what you can find! Really liked that table cloth, looking forward to see how you transform it 🌟

I was thinking Janelle that another alternative to your smocking idea for the vogue pattern is incorporating the lace from the tablecloth into the front bodice and making it a feature of the dress x x

I think they had a tip on one of the Bake Off shows to use a piece of dough to push the edge into every nook of that shape of pie dish (hands being too warm). I have to repeat to myself like a mantra in a thrift shop: "You don’t have to adopt everything," lol. Love beautiful, interesting objects and get the urge to collect like a museum curator, but I also love my airy, relatively uncluttered home.
I, too, have an affinity for table linens. Especially vintage ones, in lovely cotton and linen. Yours is lovely! But I’m not sure I could cut into it….

Hi! Just a quick tip - not all wines are meant to be archived. Actually most of them are not meant to be archived, unless it is an "archive" wine, which tends to be more expensive. Cheaper bottles of wine will not be drinkable in 10 years and definitely will not mature! :) Besides that, great video, thank you for sharing this! Not all wine ages well. Most are good for a couple of years and then start to fail. You have to ask the seller which wine he recommends for aging. Wine must also be stored properly. Poor storage conditions can spoil the best wine.

I thought the same thing. Cellaring needs a controlled climate and Tasmanian summers can be very hot and then cold.

The lace on the tablecloth is called Battenburg, it is a technique to sew ribbon together in patterns. Very much work! Lovely video, thanks!

Yeah I’ve never been able to find patterns either! I think sewing is much more popular in Australia than where I live.
So do i and yet there’s a huge trend in me made activities here, so many sewing bloggers, ont to mention sewing lessons and crowds in fabric stores
