I had an RX-7 as my first car so this is somewhat nostalgic for me.
A resonator to reduce the rasp would have been solid on this setup. But it is a rotary, so it will never sound like anything other than what it is. Overall, if you like the brap, you're good lol
the rasp is the best part tho

If you’ve got the coin for it, I’d love to see a rotary with Black Widow Exhaust. I also perfectly understand not wanting to spend that kind of money on one for something that’s untested because the result could be that it would’ve sounded the exact same with something half the cost 💀

My buddy just got one for $500 in a bit rough condition, but it runs and it's a manual. It has open headers, and it's insanely loud and fun. I was considering a newer mustang as a secondary car but now I'm considering an RX8 for around 6k.
my gti with straight pipe (smol valved muffler) and decat downpipe pulled 118 decibels at 3k rpm, at a certain rpm it gets obnoxiously loud which makes me giggle

I agree 💯. I had one years ago and the rotary sound is amazing. This setup makes it lose it's distinct sound and comes across as a run of the mill Japanese 4cly with a loud exhaust. While it's loud, it is not refined and distinct. To each their own though and 👍👍👍 for the manual transmission; one of the best!
Needs a resonator, and tips should not be out that far.... other than that it's awesome

Oh hell naw. This is way too quiet and a damn shame 🙄 Owner should have just run an open manifold. Which is hands down the best setup and provides optimal back pressure and increased engine oil life on these Mazda RX-8's.

How does OPEN headers create back pressure ? Nothing to create back pressure in the exhaust if it’s “straight” or just dumped. And can’t even get sufficient exhaust recycling, and back pressure does not do anything to oil what the fuck🤓. Only when you have TOO MUCH is it harmful causing the motor to run more hot and then it has a loss on MPG and high end power/speed.
