I always cut out the bad area and eat the rest. Also , a sun dried morel is fine to eat - as you said mold is the danger. Dried out is dried out - not moldy. I’ve been eating them for around forty years both sun dried and trimmed without a problem. Of course the more there are the pickier one becomes… Great video as always!
I'm glad you like the video. And thanks for sharing your experience :)
Impressive morel mushroom and very nice video
Thank you :)
you're the best mushroom hunter that I always watch because you really love mushrooms and you valued them so much, always looking for your videos, thank you
Thank you :)
Wow! I searched yesterday but maybe still too early here in Montana.
I don't have a good overview about the climate there, but it's possible. Here in many areas the morel season is over, while in other it's just beginning.
Prajem peknu sezonu :)
Crazy to throw that big yellow away ,makes me sick that it got trashed
Fab video, as always.
You ever considered using the feet x mycelium to make a slurry to establish morels elsewhere?
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 🌳🕊💚
Thank you :) And no, so far I haven't considered to make a slurry. But maybe one day I will try.
I don't think that was mold, looked to me like a spider web or bird's dropping.
Thanks for your opinion. The top was originally covered by a leaf, so bird's dropping was out of discussion. I had the opportunity to have a close look and unfortunately I identified it as mold.
@@LukesMushrooms Very well then. Nothing can be done in that case.
do you wash the morrells before drying them?
Depends how dirty they are and how well I manage to clean them without washing in water. I hate when you eat mushrooms and you feel pieces of sand between your teeth :D On the other side, washing may also was a bit of taste and makes it more difficult to dehydrate. Do you have any favorite practise?
Can't this morel type mushroom be cultivated...!? I often see Chinese vloggers, they cultivate it
The videos with cultivated morels that I saw always showed black morels. Those can be cultivated and I saw videos from China and also from Denmark (you can search for "The Danish Morel Project" here on UA-cam - I think that's the name). However, as far as I know, yellow morels have not been successfully cultivated yet. I think they also need a living tree to grow with - but I may be wrong.
