Media Briefing: Officer-Involved Shooting at 600 E Tidwell I Houston Police

  • HPD Asst. Chief Jessica Anderson provides an update on an officer-involved shooting at 600 E Tidwell.
    Preliminary information:
    At approximately 8:15pm on Thursday, May 9th, two men outside a convenience store at the above address got into an altercation and exchanged gunfire, according to witnesses. An HPD officer on patrol in the neighborhood pulled up to the store. The officer witnessed a man running from the scene with a handgun. The officer exited his vehicle and told the suspect to stop, but the man did not comply. The suspect turned toward the officer with the gun in his hand. The officer discharged his duty weapon, striking the suspect multiple times. Officers rendered aid to the man before he was transported by HFD to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
